Really? A retailer deserves a hell storm because they can't get a product from a particular manufacturer?

It's this type of entitlement sentiment amongst customers that makes me glad I don't work in retail. :eek:
 
Doofuses, I work at at&t!! We will NOT be carrying white iPhone 4 at launch or for pre-order!! This is NOT a hoax!

Hmm, why do I not believe you? The title of this story is misleading, as AT&T has not made this statement anywhere I can see, and they are not the source, a third party is.
 
May I just remind everyone that AT&T has always been left in the cloud. People that work for AT&T have the least bit of information on any of this.

No offense to hard working individuals that work for AT&T, but spare us the time of reading through these useless posts. Unless you are upper level management at Apple, shut up. Please. You work for AT&T. You're nothing in the grand scheme of things and you are just disposable retail staff.

Not true, actually. As I said, the CEO of Softbank, Japan's iPhone carrier, has stated on Twitter that they definitely will not have the white iPhone at launch, only black.

Here is one of the several tweets in which he states as much, this one is from just one hour ago:

EDIT: To translate, his tweet says that the reason there will be no white iPhones is not a lack of supply (to correct his previous post), but rather that he just doesn't know when they will arrive (in Japan).

Come on, seriously? Retail staff qualifications require you to read through a series of FAQ's and handbooks. They have little say in any day to day operation. It's fundamental. Management and a team of executives run the show. Everyone else...just puppets.

You're right. It is a little arrogant. I've never had to work in retail.
 
Regarding previous posts like "don't most just use covers anyway??"...

It's bad enough some of you use cases on the current iPhones... but to use one on these new ones would be even worse. Cases, screen protectors.. people buy into so much crap... just take care of your belongings. Grow up.
 
It seems like a no-brainer to me to order what I want from Apple and have it shipped to my door... standing in line at the AT&T store sounds like a nightmare to me... especially if there are any glitches in the process.

Besides, I want to be discrete when I receive my white iPhone w/ pink bumper case :D

Many people don't have time to sit and wait around for a FedEx guy to show up -- a prospect only slightly more appealing than allowing an iPhone to sit on your porch until you can get home from work.

Having a phone available for pickup at a local retail store is often more convenient, as you can get it on a lunch hour (if it's close) or on the way home.

Also, I don't get the hate for using an AT&T store. I can walk in and have my phone working before I leave while all I do is stand there. No need to take it home and go through the annoying steps to get a phone activated through iTunes. Plus, I can't imagine having to deal with Apple employees trying to figure out upgrade eligibility and AT&T FAN-discount issues. Nightmarish, IMO.

I'll be very disappointed if I have to waste my time with Apple to get a white iPhone when I can be in and out of an AT&T store in 10 minutes.
 
EDIT - Just called AT&T in my hometown and they just got word that they'll only be selling the black.
 
I will be upset but not heartbroken. Not enough to wait til AT&T's definition of "Later this summer". :rolleyes:

If true - I'll take a black 32GB.
 
Maybe they realized the consumer response to the front of the white iPhone was very negative, and they are redesigning the white...

Read all my posts, I have been here since June 2007, EVERY single post I have ever made has been true. I don't post that much maybe 25 to 30 times, I ususally only post to clear the air. Just don't be disappointed when you go to an AT&T store tomorrow and you CAN'T order a white one...
 
i'm getting the black anyway. and directly from Apple rather than ATT. but jeez, ATT. you just don't stop being a failure of a company, do you? excellent costumer service, excellent coverage, excellent network connection quality, no dropped calls, convenient stores that offer all your products. and you keep your customer's personal information secure from amateur hackers. you're just awesome, ATT. awesome...

AT&T pre-order tomorrow

I just finished speaking to them and A&T confirmed that pre-order will start at 4 a.m. EST on June 15 - she still had no confirmation about white piece
 
this is a MAJOR PROBLEM for me, specifically

My mother, who purchased a 3GS within the past few weeks (her phone broke, and I assured her she could upgrade to the new one when it came out) wants to get a white one.

In order to upgrade from a recently purchased 3GS to the iPhone 4, according to AT&T, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PREORDER THE iPhone 4 BEFORE JUNE 21!!!

So for her, waiting a few weeks is not an option! This is complete BS and I hope it is not true, otherwise she'll just have to get a black one I guess and return it in 30 days - or some other loophole. If this is true I'll be raising hell at my local AT&T store tomorrow and somehow get them to authorize her account for her to purchase the new iPhone from Apple.com.
 
If this rumor turns out to be true, gee, I just don't see where AT&T could do anything else to lower my opinion of them any lower.
This is something that should go out in a press release and much sooner than the eleventh hour...literally !
