Does anyone know if it would cause trouble to show up at an ATT store Friday to try and get the same phone I ordered through apple, and just canceling the apple order afterwards if I can get one at the store.

***UPDATE 9/14/2016***

- Stores are already receiving there first batch of stock. They are receiving them by model. 4.7" phones are arriving today and 5.5" arriving tomorrow.

- Remember, employees can not tell you how many they have in stock. If you ask nicely they can tell you "Some" or "Alot" or "Probably very little"

- Please make sure you have your passcode handy. If you did not create one, please call AT&T to create one. You may need that to make changes to the account. You probably don't need it, but you don't want the lack of remembering your passcode to hinder you getting your phone.

- Employees CAN NOT hold your phone for you. They will be passing out tickets as you stand in line, but you need to remain in line to get your phone (Don't walk off and go shopping)

I'm planning on waiting at an Apple Store to see if there is any shot at all at getting the 7+ JB. I am slowly accepting that I may have to go with a matte black 7+ though, and I'm wondering if I should get to an Apple Store like around like 5:30pm on Thursday or an ATT store line around like 7:00 on Thursday. *sigh* even if I'm not in the first 50 at apple, I would think I'd probably have a better shot at getting even just the plain black...

Thanks for this information! Hoping to be one of the first to my local AT&T store. Did you happen to catch when they would start handing out tickets in the morning?

Depending on where you live, if you want to guarantee a jet black plus, apple stores will be your only option. I would probably drive by early thursday and check if theres a line, but I would aim to be in line by noon-2pm. You'd need to be in the front of the line.

I did not get that exact info, but typically in years past employees with be out talking to people 30 minutes before store opens.

I'm hoping I can swing into an AT&T store before work and score something.

I ordered a Black 256gb 7 simply because I knew I'd get it on launch day, and I'll be totally fine with it if that's what I ultimately end up with, but my heart is simply set on a Black 128/256gb 7+.

If they have it, great...if they don't, it is what it is.

Does anyone know if they'll even let me buy one since I have one on the way? I bought it outright and not part of AT&T Next, if that matters, and I would plan on buying the 7+ outright as well and simply returning the regular 7 to the store when I receive it.

I want to get a phone for my wife and I, will they let me purchase two phones if I'm the only one there? I guess is there a limit of phones per person?

Yes, you can buy maximum of 2. 1 phone per line. So if you have for example 4 lines, you could buy up to 4 phone.

I don't think even the front of the line is going to guarantee a Jet Black +.

***UPDATE 9/14/2016 11:44 AM***

- Many stores did not receive much quantity for the first batch. Store employees are not happy because they have sales metrics they need to meet per month (If you don't meet them, disciplinary action can occur if you do not meet your numbers every month).

- I was not told exact numbers but here is what my friend said about one of his larger stores (In a major metro area inside the largest shopping mall in the county)

iPhone 7 (4.7")
Jet Black - Very Low
Silver - Some
Gold - Some
Pink - Low

iPhone 7 Plus (5.5")
No word yet, those will be trickling in today and mostly tomorrow. Will update when I hear word.

Folks, it doesn't look good as far as stock goes for AT&T Stores. Better start queuing up early.

Dang that's not what I like to hear. I'll be curious to hear about their stock of 5.5" models once they start coming in. Seems like Apple had started catching up with the 4.7" models based on everyone's shipping updates but as far as store-stock goes that doesn't seem to be the case.

This information is so valuable. Thank you so much for the information and continued updates. Considering it looks like Apple Stores may not even have any stock at all for walk in customer's, I may very well be one of the ones braving the ATT store lines on Thursday evening. I'm hoping for a 7+ in black 256GB, but I'd totally settle for 128GB.

jp700p from your experience, what are the chances of going to a AT&T store at 7am, 11am or 3pm and being able to get a phone

Traditionally in my area if you got to an At&t store at 5am, you were first in line. Line never gets going until 7 or so, but there are always issues, no Gold that year, no plusses the last two years, etc. You just never know.

This is my biggest worry with the situation. While I have no trouble getting to my local store around 6 and I think that gives me decent odds of being at the front of the line but it won't matter if they don't have any plus models stocked from the beginning.

***UPDATE 9/14/2016 1:14 PM***

- Some stores reported no stock on certain colors such as Pink or Matte Black. Wow.

And that's just regular iPhone 7? I'm actually afraid of how low numbers for the plus model might be.

I'll stop into my local store tomorrow evening and ask if they got any blacks 7 & 7 Plus in stock. I don't want to waste my time camping out if they don't even have what I want.

This was my plan too. Figured I'd wait till right before close Thursday and see if they will give me some hints about their stock.
