hot or not, she's now out of a job :) i think they should bring back catherine zeta jones, calling up michael douglas and reminding him its their anniversary while he books a restaurant at the same time as telling her that 'of course he hasn't forgotten'.

They can always make her bash the Vz iphone :p

that's stupid, 3 carriers should not be the only major choices. AT&T sucks and should just forget about the mobile world and go back to selling land lines to old people.

I guess there will be no T-mobile iPhone then

My question is - why did Apple not buy them and tell AT&T to pound sand?

Because Apple is a highly profitable company that doesn't want to ruin it's stock market valuation by buying a low margin, high asset business? Same reason Apple doesn't buy aluminum miners - let OTHER companies do the low profit activities, you do the high profit ones.

This is clearly a move to expand an international presence. T-Mobile is huge overseas....their 4G efforts will be utilized here in the US but they can care less about the customer base, I think many of those customers will move to sprint unless they need a "global" phone...which if your looking for the cheapest thing out there then I am guessing not.

Who other than AT&T stockholders would consider this a positive development?- Less competition, less choices, hurray for us! Ma Bell's coming back!! A lot of T-Mobile customers (including myself) are going to be very upset and the world is a less varied, less consumer-friendly place.

I'm on AT&T and have had great service in Boston/Cambridge for the past 3 years. I can't remember the last time I dropped a call, I have service everywhere, and the network is fast except at peak times.

In metro Atlanta there are still areas where no signal is available from one street to another. Engineers don't always know how to determine where those cell towers should be placed to provide maximum coverage.

The move will obviously curtail the meed for T-Mobile iPhone which has been rumored from time to time. The iPhone is presently offered on AT&T and iPhone only in the U.S. Existing AT&T and T-Mobile customers will presumably see a consolidation in service and coverage as the deal takes place.

Do you all know how to proofread?

Fixed that for you. ;)
They better! Go to wisconsin and you'll be raging at the ****** verizon coverage because US Cellular is taking up all the 850mhz spectrum. First time I dropped a call on verizon was in wisconsin. Allot of roaming out there too...

“You mean AT&T had $39 billion sitting around and they WEREN’T BUILDING MORE ****** CELL TOWERS?!?!”

lol

I think they are only buying the US assets.

Airport WiFi

So I presume I'll be able to log in to all those T-Mobile USA hotspots in airports with my current iPhone and iPad while awaiting LTE and iPhone/iPad upgrades.

You must be on Verizon, AT&T works for me where Verizon failed so AT&T may not be right for others, but it has been a great transition for me leaving Verizon who treated me badly and AT&T who treats me very well, and the service is about the same on both for my area.

WOW. This is such surprising news. Good news I guess, as it can only make life as a current AT&T customer better, right? If we're suddenly allowed to use T-Mobile cell sites in NYC that could help ease the load on AT&T's network.

I mean it's totally dependent on location. For you AT&T works well, for some Verizon works well so "you must be on Verizon" isn't really a fair thing to say.

I live in downtown NYC and my AT&T iPhone is crap. It drops my calls, or cuts in and out. I get no service when I see a Verizon person walk by chatting away on his phone. But when I go home to Florida, my AT&T iPhone rules. 3G is blazing fast, no dropped calls, no service dropouts. Ever.

Location, location, location.
