Where did you hear this from? As I stated before, recent announcements from AT&T point to their pricing becoming higher and restrictive. They're basically saying, were going to charge you more, so get used to it now.
You didn't read his previous post. Apparently his father is dating the at&t exec or something like that.

You have no idea what you are blathering about.

T-Mobile USA has a nice HSPA+ network. However, HSPA+ is not technically 4G, it's more like 3.5G. T-Mobile USA does not have any allocated spectrum for 4G (LTE or WiMax). They were in a bit of a quandary because of this.

4G in like 3 cities?

Ya know, the AT&T bashing is OLD... Apple had faith in them, contracted with them, and they delivered 3 Years of OUTSTANDING iPhone data service that Verizon was not and STILL IS NOT ready for. If you like Verizon, switch to them and then suffer. You now have a choice. It is interesting how many did NOT move when given the choice.

AT&T leading again....

B/c of contracts.

Oh wow a Verizon fanboy! When this merger is completed AT&T will be the biggest company. Oh wait. Aren't you going do the "duh at least with Verizon I can make a call" crap?. How sickening.
and let me guess, you are going to do the "Hey I can surf the web and talk at the same time!" crap?

I don't see why they would grab T-Mobile and then raise rates. That would just piss off T-Mobile customers and they'd leave for sprint or verizon. I feel like it would only make sense for AT&T to utilize economies of scale and lower prices or keep them competitive with verizon but offer better service to attract more customers. I don't see why they'd spend $39 billion just so all the T-Mobile customers with lower rates would leave when forced to pay a significant amount more. I can't imagine that happening, and if it did I think AT&T wouldve made a big mistake.

Yes. And the rollover minutes crap. And the faster network crap. And now the largest network crap. It must be hard to be a Verizon fanboy now.

First my bank(WAMU) and now possibly my mobile service. Why is everything going to ****...

I hope this doesn't get a approved, but with lobbyist doing their thing over this next year, it probably will happen.

T-Mobile has been a great carrier these past 9-ish years. Thankfully I've already switched to MONTH-TO-MONTH(Cheaper unlimited data plan and I own me phone.), so I'll be able to jump ship if this acquisition happens.

Pac Bell -- which is now AT&T -- is by far the worst carrier I've used, even more so than Verizon. So now I'm not sure where I'll go, Sprint?

You forgot the sim card crap :p

The deal combines AT&T’s 95.5 million subscribers with T-Mobile’s 34 million subscribers to create the nation’s largest mobile operator. Both companies are using the GSM-based HSPA network, although T-Mobile has a faster HSPA network, while AT&T plans to move its subscribers to a Long Term Evolution network in the next two years. Thus the deal provides a path to LTE for T-Mobile’s subscribers, since T-Mobile had planned on boosting its speeds through upgrades to its HSPA network.

I guess there will be no T-mobile iPhone then

My question is - why did Apple not buy them and tell AT&T to pound sand?

Yeah, then Apple could have had 100% of a small phone company's business.

Or, since Apple was developing the iPhone at the time they could have bought AT&T Co. for $16 billion in November 2005 instead of letting SBC have it. Or they could have snatched up AT&T Wireless in 2004 (who owned 60% of Cingular at the time) for a mere $41 billion.

AT&T could just grandfather the existing T-Mobile customers in at their old rates. I've got that going on since Verizon bought Alltel a number of years ago.

I think that's the plan. AT&T is greedy. . . but they're not stupid. And as an iPhone owner since 07, I can attest to the fact my service has increased since the original. Drastically.

I'm still confused though, Why are T-Mobile customer pissed/mad/upset with AT&T? T-Mobile is the one who screwed you guys over by thinking their method of business was going to last long.

If you love T-Mobile their towers are coming to AT&T what's the difference? (Please don't mention price because at this time it's inevitable and either way Verizon is just as expensive)

T-Mobile subscribers might see more benefits initially. Their HSPA+ network is faster and more broadly deployed than AT&T's right now. When T-Mobile subscribers leave the coverage area, they would roam on AT&T's wider coverage map.

Uhhh... What metric are u citing that t-mobile's network is faster and more broadly deployed? That is not true at all. I'm happy with this once it all goes through. Makes my AT&T network that much bigger. Hi t-mobile people! :waive:

AT&T made lots of money from carrying the iPhone... then bought T-Mobile...

Now AT&T will make lots more money from T-Mobile and it's services and the growth from selling iPhone's there... of which Apple will also grow it's iPhone market share...

There's always a plan...
:D

This will not go I prey. Ma bell takes over world?

Expect less even more. Sad

I agree. As far as I could tell, we needed more competition, not less. Well, if you're too lazy to give a crap about customer service, buy your competition and reduce people's choices in the market. That way they can't leave you no matter how crappy your network is.

Not to mention the you can actually use it overseas crap.

"This transaction represents a major commitment to strengthen and expand critical infrastructure for our nation’s future,"

You hear that? So clearly outsourcing their customer service to India is also a major commitment to strengthen our nations future as well.

Nice AT&T!

The only T-Mobile customer I know who has heard about this is happy. He was going to switch to AT&T anyway apparently, but the service just wasn't as good. Once all the frequencies get worked out, AT&T should have amazing coverage. I can't say how the data speed will work out with all those customers on one network, but at least the map should be better covered. You get what you pay for, and T-Mobile is/was the worst provider of the big 4 from what I can tell and got away with it by offering lower prices. And if your plans get grandfathered in, then there's a huge win because service will be much much better.

Not Happy About This - Unlocked T-Mobile and T-Zones

I've been with t-mobile for like ever. What this means for us unlocked people is that .... no more T-Zones Data Plan (at $5.99). Albeit slow, affordable, reliable...and no data limits. My guess is now that ATT aboard, there are not going to allow this or the fact we can tether with with crap from carrier. I know I will get no sympathy from those on the ATT and Verizon networks...but I guess it was fun while it lasted. Hopefully, we'll get grandfathered in...somehow.

Slow Speed Edge = $5.99
3G Speed (if you were lucky to get unlimited plan while it lasted) = $30.00

I'll take the former any-day... like how much do I really really need to know before I get to a Wifi spot or home.

R.I.P. t-Zones
