All they got to do is get tethering in there and that would already do the trick for most.
AT&T will only be appealing once again if they offer a significant discount for new iPhones under a contract, and if they match T-Mobile price with free data roaming all over many countries, and tethering. I was grandfathered with AT&T unlimited and the continuous push to increase the monthly rate plus not giving any competitive advantage made me drop the 2 lines I had and get 3 lines for much less money per month.

I've been on the ATT unlimited plan since iPhone 1 on day 1. Looking forward to leaving them. They've engendered no loyalty of the years, constantly finding little ways to stick it to me. Last 2 $5 per month increases over the last year really rubbed me raw. I've been buying Verizon unlocked for a few years now waiting for this day.
Exactly what I did and I am very happy.

In addition to tethering, they need to get the price down at least $20 to Verizon's level if not lower.

Got a call from AT&T's social media team after I tweeted to them that we needed tethering to go on to the unlimited plan. Spoke for a few minutes and the rep told me that the tethering issue is something she's heard from customers ever since they announced the unlimited plan. So at least our voice is being heard and hopefully they do something about it.

If Att gives us tethering I switch back there. With my FAN discount it will be 15.6 dollars more than 150 T-mobile plan I have now. I must admit Att network is better.

In some areas yes. Specially inside large buildings the T-Mobile reception is not so good. However where is the key, free data roaming internationally is absolutely great, not everyone needs it, but those who do, find it very appealing and he main reason to switch. Plus some of the free tuesday stuff is some nice message that they are there trying to make a difference, and indeed they had, without T-Mobile moves neither AT&T nor Verizon had pursued offering back unlimited or trying to win the word of mouth run for what carrier offers the best deal.
"No fees and tax gimmicks" is also something important to take notice. Hopefully similar competition comes to home ISP...I wish

There's no question that AT&T is going to be feeling the heat (if they're not already). Postpaid customers are the ones every wireless carrier wants more of; and postpaid customers are currently the ones AT&T is pissing off. Not a very smart strategy.

Well like me and someone else tried to tell everyone earlier in this thread... we have been able to tether with our iPad pros with this plan with direcTV. They might say they don't allow tethering but that isn't exactly true at all.

Thanks. Unfortunately for me, I bought a wifi only iPad Pro. Bummer.

Also, I lost tethering this morning. I didn't restart. Apparently they pushed it out to me without a restart. I'm really annoyed that I cancelled the switch to Verizon.

even if at&t said today, "hey we don't allow tethering EXCEPT if you have directv AND an ipad pro", I still think they would have many many pissed off customers. They need to just replicate the verizon 10gb tethering offer

its a page that states tethering is not available for unlimited plans HOWEVER, if you don't want to give up an unlimited plan for tethering, they have these "riders" or packages you can add to your account for tethering called DATAPRO 5GB

but whats weird is when i try to go into the package, it redirects me to login when im already logged in. I can't find a trace of the feature on the site, nor can I add it to my plan. Which makes me confused. Why would their twitter help account give me a link to a removed feature. But I have hope they removed it to add it to their unlimited plan soon.

Who freakin knows at this point, AT&T get it together!

I get exactly the same thing. Man this is totally ridiculous! Heck just open up tethering and have it count against my 22gig if they cannot afford (doubtful that it is an issue) to offer the same as Verizon. I have been with AT&T since before Cingular and I can remember buying a data add on for my Palm phone (Treo 180). I think it was a meg and ran about $8 per month! Talk about highway robbery! AT&T has been making $$$ and will continue even if they match or beat Verizon's price.

The inertia of changing to Verizon is the only thing that keeps me now. Eventually if they don't get off their high horse, I will move and take my 4 lines with me. Will that hurt them... nope, but I am a fairly typical user I would imagine with multi lines and $150ish spend per month. Eventually enough will leave and that will hurt. I seem to recall that they lost just shy of a million users last year??? It is hard to imagine that is not concerning to someone?

Thanks! It is weird. I couldn't get it to load for me for a while. When I finally tried to load it with my MBP, it worked. Here is what I see.

I will switch to Verizon this week. I'm annoyed with myself of losing the progress that I did make. If Verizon is making an offer that deserves my business, they will get it.

When they add tethering I will take a further look into this unlimited plan. I've had DirecTV since last July so I've had access to this plan for a while now but the whole no tethering thing put me off. In fact just last month I switched to the 30GB plan which is more than enough for me.

But again, I'd like to get Unlimited but not until they add tethering.

I added it and will wait a bit and see what their response to adding tethering is. Right now it is a little cheaper with my fan discount and there was no commitment. If I switch to verizon, i will need at least 1 new phone out of 4. That will lock me into a payment for it, or even if I buy one outright I will have to spend to get it. I can afford to wait a month and see how the pressure mounts. I really doubt that verizon will not keep this plan forever, so time is not of the essence. A plus is I won't have to go through the hassle of porting. My wife uses her phone for her business and so porting is a little more of an issue. Also the young ones will freak out if I tell them they might miss a txt or two during the porting.

Just gave up my grandfathered unlimited plan today and switched to Verizon. Hello to tethering and unlimited talk and text, all on an even better network and cheaper to boot. With loyal customers like us jumping ship, I think it's safe to say AT&T will have a rough time going forward refusing to keep up with competition.

How is the speed thus far?

That's my issue in this area the data speeds are just BAD. You report the issues to VZ and instead of owning it saying yes there is an issues we will look into it. Ours techs when out and didn't see a problem we good it's your phone. Then when I to told them it was 8 phones over two accounts over multiple phone generations they had no real words but it's not us. IF you didn't have apple devices then you would have the issues.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

AT&T once again sticks it to the customer. For a single line of unlimited data, they want a $100 which easily makes it the most expensive. Tethering will be taken away, however you get car connect free right? Wroonggg!!! There is a monthly service free for car connect. For example, for Audi, it is $40.....per month. That's right, per month! As much as I hate to have to do this, T-Mobile, here I come.

I will stay with my 15GB (which was doubled for free a few years ago) and save about $80 with my current family plan and 7 devices. This is just to please the complainers about the others having an UNLIMITED Plan. They tried to get me to switch last year, because I am also a DirecTV customer. The cost was still way higher than I am paying now. Where they get you, is you no longer have the $25 credit for bringing your own phone/or non-subsidized phone. So, with 6 Smart Phones on my plan and one wearable, I would have to pay over $150 more than I am now. It is unreal what these carriers are charging for service. Also, I bet you can't get any phone subsidized on this plan either. No thank you AT&T, I will keep what I have

Varies a lot from place to place (just like AT&T and my previous tests with T-Mobile last year). At home I'm only getting 3Mb down, but to be fair AT&T only got me 4-5Mb. At work I'm getting 50Mb down, 13 up (AT&T was 60/20). At a restaurant last night I got 60Mb both up and down.
