Just called 1 800 3310500 again. Just to make sure if they have any information about my fax, with a copy for proof of purchase. The rep on the phone told me (because I'm abroad and don't have an AT&T-account) I should have to wait at least 5 days before I receive an email with further information. Just sharing it for the people going to the same proces.
 
Did you call the regular 1-800-331-0500 or did you get a different one for tech support. I have been talking with regular customer service reps.

There is no other number for tech support. You have to call this number and speak to an agent (press "1" and then "0"). Ask for tech support and see what they say. Some of the agents seem to be more knowledgeable. So if one doesn't help, call again and talk to another.

I called that number and selected option 6 for technical support. From there it seems like it is a 50/50 chance of actually getting tech support or regular CS. CS can't do anything for you though so you need to ask for tech support.
 
Ok I am curious. I am from Zambia (in Africa) and i had a friend last year visit the US and buy me an iPhone 4 network locked to AT&T around may at the full price and not on contract on Amazon. AT&T however could not unlock it at the time and so I have had to use a GEVEY sim. I wana know how I can unlock it because I clearly didn't get my phone on contract. Anyone who can tell me what to do

Get a skype account and put 1 dollar or sth on your account. Call tech on +18003310500 and press 1 and then press 0 ( or 0 first then 1 u will figure out). Talk to them say u wanna unlock but they want your exact date of purchase. You have to know that. Also mail adress, contact number, IMEI number and say that u paid full price. It takes about 15 minutes. And this number is toll free which means it is all free to call from skype. but u need some credits to call landlines anyway. I wrote you the way I did and now I am waiting for my mail to try unlocking. I live abroad also. we are in same situation.
 
I called in at 1-800-331-0500, pressed 1 then 0 got a person and said I wanted my iPhone 4 unlocked. They asked if I was a current customer, said no, asked for my name, number and email. They put in the request no problem.
 
Proof of purchase issue.

I just called back about my unlock case which required a proof of purchase which I don't have. Spoke to tech support, they were very friendly but unfortunately not able to help. Next I spoke to a supervisor. He actually said that since I don't have a proof of purchase, they will try to track my IMEI with Apple back to date and point of purchase to confirm it was purchased at full price (and not stolen). Very helpful man but it still seems iffy whether I'll actually get the phone unlocked via this case. Just have to wait and see. And hope.

So basically, if anyone is having similar issues with their unlock case, call and ask to speak to a supervisor. It might help.
 
My case

Same. I called on Sunday evening. Still haven't get any email.

1. Called 800 number on 4/8 10AM. Received e-mail on 4/10 12PM : UNLOCKED.
(3GS).
2. Used Tech chat on 4/8 4PM. Still waiting e-mail. (iPhone4).

The case # difference above 2 was about 9000.
 
we waited this much long, it wont hurt to wait for a little more ( contacted sunday with tech, still waiting iphone4)
 
Do they unlock a no contract phone? I paid 600 for my no contract iPhone 4 a year ago.

YES i was.And now it is been 24 hours since the MIRACOLE occured and i am still as HIGH&HAPPY as anyone can be!!!!

i repeat: if the iPhone (whatever model it may be) and *isn`t on a contract, stolen, found, other carrier than AT&T *etc.. you will get it unlocked somwhere between 1-7 days belive it or not.I had huge doubts..bit now i am 24 away from the MIRACOLE...it did happen, and it will happen for you too guys.*

thay told me to wait up to 72 hours ..and by the 16-th of april i`ll get the final answer, wich was POSITIVE and lot sooner that the due date :)) YAY:D

iPhone 4S unlocked! Thank you! I did the chat with AT&T on Monday morning and today received the email stating my phone may now be unlocked with instructions. I did receive the unlock message on iTunes as well. WAHOO!!!!!

No. I bought it on day one through my old business account. Since then I left that company and when AT&T changed my account, it went month to month on my individual account. I am waiting till the 5 comes out to sign a new contract but in the meantime, I now have a unlocked 4S. :apple:

Did u also get a text or voicemail with the email? I'm worried that the rep put my email in Wrong

I called at&t again. they say u can unlock now I will try it.


Edit: Okay guys. I just didint get the instruction e-mail now my iphone 4 is unlocked. By the way u dont need to restore even it seems. Just put your simcard(other than at&t) and plug into itunes. it will give error like u need to activate. and on phone screen u will see some next button. Press it and u are done in seconds. Thats all. If u afraid to restore because of baseband. Dont restore just do this things I 've done.

is your iphone on 5.1? im not getting that error message
