They asked me for an account still.

another way is to get on the phone and tell your story. if you try hard enough you will eventually get thru.

having an account just limits customers from unlocking every Iphone AT&t phone globally. this was supposed to be a local service for stateside and for official At&t customers. they really do us a favour when they accommodate foreign requests. If at any point of time if you were a genuine aT&t customer you would have an account and the required details. If you bought the iphone second hand from gumtree, craigslist, eBay ot wherever then its tougher as iphone is linked to an account unless you use it on your number on at&t, link it and then unlock it.

95% problems are occurring because members are willing to unlock and are not even in the US. Its still possible but way more complicated.

I tried threw email the answer was no!! :D I searching for a solution :D. Mhhhm getting desperate. Because I really want to use it :D

well one month after my unlock request my iPhone has been unlocked, but you guys should read this so it doesn't happen to you.

I decided to call today to see the progress of my unlock, which was supposed to be unlocked April 22. It took three separate calls to accomplish my goal of unlocking my iPhone.

First call: long call, she ended up telling me my request has been denied by Apple.

Second call: Things were going fine then all the sudden she transferred me to Apple for no reason. Neither me, or the apple guy, knew why she did this so i had to call AT&T a third time.

Third call: She tells me that AT&T change their policy two days after i submitted my request. She doubts that my iPhone was accepted because of the policy. Luckily she was wrong, my request was among the "initial batch" so my unlock request was accepted. Im like "wtf i never got the email", apparently these SOB's forgot to email me when it was unlocked so who knows how long it has been unlocked for. Plug my iPhone in and boom it IS unlocked, HAPPY DAY. But seriously, how the hell did they forget to email me.............

long story short, just because you didn't get the email doesn't mean it was not unlocked.

Is there a way to confirm that unlock has happened without doing restore? My 4S has the latest ios so I can't jailbreak it and don't want to lose anything that's on my iPhone.

Use SAM in cydia.

already posted loads of times. pls search to find out more. it will enable you to unlock without having to restore provided ATT approved your request. btw I think 5.0.1 is more batteryefficient but that's just me saying

I can't because I'm on 5.1 already and there's no jailbreak for 4S. I wasn't jailbroken before so I can't revert to older ios.

Now hard to request unlock without account and Name of his owner! If samebody can help me and give me only number and Name pls send me! Cose iam not in USA ((( and cant do it myself, help pls!

simply check first if the request went through.

then back up all apps, contacts, pics and settings via iTunes. make sure you transfer purchases.

keep an external copy of contacts like using iCloud or gmail sync. it helps always to have a backup.

reset all settings on the device and perform a wipe. then you can reactivate as new phone. Do all this only you are 100% sure you are unlocked as it will save you the hassle. and when activating use a non-official carrier.

how is everyone unlocking their iphone 4? Technically they should all still be under contract because it's been less than 2 years since launch. How do I get ATT to unlock mine? They keep telling me my phone is undercontract when they look up my imei#. I go out of the country in two weeks but my contract is up in 4 weeks.

YAY!!!

Got my email from ATT that my iPhone 4S will be unlocked when I restore from iTunes.

Factory unlocked...finally!!!

Did you pay full price for the phone or pay the ETF?

Nope, neither. My contract was up in June. Got it a bit early because of upcoming travel, and my long good history with ATT (over 15 years). To tell you the truth, I think I got lucky.

Just did the iTunes restore and got the message, 'Congratulations, your iPhone is Unlocked'

Be going overseas in a month. Ready to try the 4S out.

I'm an AT&T customer and I spoke with a representative over the online chat, and after giving her my IMEI number she told me I was eligible for an unlock code, but my case had to go through the unlock review as well and I would be notified in 5-7 days. What is the likelihood that my phone will be unlocked and how long does it usually take? It is not stolen but it is off contract and I told her that.

Oh I thought it was the 4S they unlocked. Either way, it was nice of them to unlock a phone that was still under contract. Where are you taking the phones?
