I can FINALLY relax, maybe even catch a few z's! I started checking at 11pm last night in hopes that apple would start taking orders at 12am Eastern time. I refreshed all morning and finally started trying to order when the site went "live".
I originally wanted to order for delivery at my office but settled for store pick-up at around 6:45am. I got home from work and decided to give it another shot. My order went through somewhat easily compared to this morning so I decided to order my wife's phone. WOW, that one took about an hour but finally went through! I have confirmation screen shots but haven't received confirmation emails from Apple. Has anyone that placed an order this evening received a confirmation email?
 
Just noticed Apple's site no longer says: "Delivers on June 24th", it now says "Ships by July 2nd"
 
Apple store site is hosed all day (might blame that one on AT$T), but now I finally get through, to find out I can only add one phone to the cart (we have 2 lines and 2 phones). That's beyond retarded. Sticking with my old phone. Well done, Steve !

So I tried the first one reserved to pick up at the store. When I tried the second line, I found out that each Apple ID could only hold one phone. So I decided to ship the second phone to me, that worked (check out with guest account). Then, I did the first phone again to ship to me and canceled the reservation at the Apple store.

Now I have 2 phones shipped to me at 24th.

Well, the apple store kept giving me errors when doing those 2 lines (all happened when checking with ATT's database), I had to try over and over again to get them through.

and can't do store pickup

I placed order around 6:00~7:30 pm EDT for 2 lines shipped to me. I got confirmation around 9:40pm EDT.

That blows - I finally got my order through and see that same thing. Pretty bad fail for Apple on the positive buying experience front today. Won't keep my up nights, but I agree with whoever else said it here - Apple and AT&T should have been better prepared for this, it's not like they don't see it on every release.

I guess on the upside maybe activation won't be as hammered on July 2nd...

wow. I just got an order in less than an hour ago and it shows arrive June 24th. Must be my lucky day. I placed an order earlier today for in store pickup at Apple Store in Omaha and it confirmed but when I tried a second phone it would never go through and eventually they showed no more available for the 24th.

Wowww, that's really bad.

I stopped by ATT store after work today and talked to rep in that store (she seems the manager).

Basically she told me that there are 2 iphone pools in ATT, one for coming to store at 24th and one for pre-order. The pre-order could only be delivery between June 25 to July 5. And I couldn't reserve one to pick at 24th, so I left.

So I guess going to ATT store at 24th is an option too, just need to be there early before all sold out. She didn't know how many iphones each store has at 24th.
 
Spoke with Apple rep

Just spoke with Apple Rep and tried to pre-order through him. He got stuck the same place I keep getting stuck where it says they will be unable to complete my setup online. He said he hasn't been able to access the server for 6 hours. Don't really understand how this could happen, you would think they would have prepared a hell of a lot better than this. But he said just keep trying, and if you get through, you'll get it on the day that it says you'll get it, that's the benefit of getting it delivered to your house. Congrats to those who got through, i hate you.
 
So much relief! What a stressful day. I can finally relax and watch the Lakers beat the Celtics! What a great day! A little complaining with an Apple support specialist got me a $100 coupon voucher off my iphone too. A huge thank you to Lynn, the coolest Apple support tech ever! So I basically got an upgrade from 16GB to 32GB for free! Thats right, an iPhone 4 32GB for $199.....LOL. Yesssir :)

Apple shuld sell the iphone to Verizon T mobil and so

at&t was not ready to this lunch and if I was mr Jobes, I would tell at&t that it is not excaptable.
I just ordered the iphone 4 32G at the Apple store online paid $499. at list my money gos not to at&t I will keep my unlimited data and belive me this phone will suck data day and night even if I don't need it.

No confirmation email yet. I have the receipt and I ordered around 4:45PM EST. It did show up in my orders however, I'd feel better if I had a confirmation email. Now I can't check my order status. It says it's down for 'scheduled maintenance'...yeah right.

I almost gave up and didn't buy an iPhone 4 (I have a 32GB 3GS), but ultimately, I purchased it. I wonder how many have reconsidered iPhone 4? Plus all the lost time when Apple couldn't answer calls, plus the loss of income on sales - I smell a lawsuit coming, or some sort of reparations (previously hammered out in a contract, I would imagine).

Sorry, I completely disagree. They were having problems from MINUTE ONE. At 3 in the morning it was a disaster, so the "oops too many people tried at once" theory doesn't work for me. They COULD have foreseen the problems (similar problems happened when the original iPhone launched), and yet they did nothing to correct the problem throughout the day.

How did they in any way do a decent job? If you're going to have a pre-order you should have all the kinks worked out. Trust me they've done market research and knew about how many people were going to pre-order. I've been trying since 6:30 am this morning off and on and still haven't gotten it. And when I tried to order through a representative, he couldn't even log onto his computer because the server was so crowded. This is ridiculous. And at the end of the day I'll be paying them for my anger. Awesome.
 
Wow. Glad i stopped by I thought I was all set having placed my order after trying all day. I did not look at the delivery date, i just assumed it was the 24th, silly me for assuming. Sometime in July they planned to deliver so i will be canceling this order. What a bunch of crap, i gotta tell you, really piss poor, shame on all of them as they go laughing to the bank with all of our money.

Luckilly i have a reservation at a store so i will go and pick it up rather than wait. I will try calling and complaining and seeing if i can get one of those vouchers, somehow that seems a tad on the far fetched side but whatever. Never heard of that on a new product but hey its worth a try.
And there still not picking up the phone.

Wondering if they like did a dry run on this great system they have going here. Big launch day! Congradulations Apple big shots you have a bunch of people really pissed and really bitter about this!
But they know they have the product you want and can't get it anywhere else.
This really may be the beginning of the end of tis company!
I'll let you know if i am successful.
 
Got it I think

I just got mine pre-ordered... through the Apple site. Maybe I got lucky? I got my confirmation order, but I am waiting on my confirmation e-mail still. Keeping my fingers crossed... ;)

Order went through at 7:34 pm PST, waiting for E-Mail confirmation from Apple
