I went to my local AT&T store and ordered mine there at around 3:00PM ET today. I had it delivered to my house. They had to take all the info down manually. I got an email at around 6:15pm confirming my order (so obviously they got my order entered into their system) and it said...

"Thank you for ordering iPhone 4 from AT&T. Your device has been reserved. Today was the busiest sales day in our history. Because of the incredible volume of orders we received, there is a slight chance that some customers may receive their devices between June 25 and June 28. Rest assured, we are doing all we can to ship devices to customers for delivery on the 24th. You do not need to take any action at this point.

As soon as your device ships, we will send an email confirmation including a tracking number for your convenience. In the meantime, you can check the status of your order on our website at any time by clicking here or by calling our automated system at 1-877-782-8870.

Here are your order details:"

(and it lists my order number, what I ordered, how to active my new iPhone etc...)

So I should be set. Now whether I get it on the 24th is another story. I might not since I ordered it late in the afternoon. In any case no big deal if I get it a few days later.

After trying literally all day, I was just able to place my order online at the apple store. Although, I really wanted the white one, I wasn't willing to wait for it; I'm sure will be happy with my new iPhone black with a white bumper....

After trying to order about 20
times today while at the office, i finally gave up
and decided to wait until later. I went to apple store thru iPhone and after about 4 attempts was able to purchase. I got a delivery date of June 24th, however I have yet to receive a conformation email, so I won't hold
my breath that I receive phone on that date.

Here is my main concern: I'm already on a family plan with At&t and just upgrading current iPhone. Was it supposed to confirm my rate plan; text plan; data plan, etc? In my cart it just showed a $30 data plan, however I didn't put it there...is this going to screw up or change my current rate plan configurations? It took me like 4 months to finally get AT&T to get it all right.
 
Just go to the Apple store and check your account. Look under "Order Status" within the account.

My iPhone is happily sitting there, saying it'll be delivered on the 24th. I haven't received an e-mail yet either, but in my experience sometimes that takes a day or two, even for iTunes songs.

It errors out on me: Can't connect to application instance

OTOH, the available balance on my credit card has gone down the appropriate amount for the reservation, although it hasn't posted yet. So we'll see.
 
I got really close one time, to the screen where you can buy the phone. but then it popped up a thing saying my session expired. Had to start all over again I'm losing my patience with this
 
well, i must have an iphone definitely coming my way from the apple site, as i now have $323.67 less in my wells fargo account. will definitely be canceling from AT&T as soon as i can, especially if i can get the phone sooner.

I have finally ordered it! Here is how i did it i dont know if i just got lucky but it worked for me...

I opened 4 to 5 tabs at the time and kept filling out and submitting info, sometimes i would complete checking eligibility but fail after pressing continue but i wouldn't stop and keep doing the process over on all tabs at the same time....5 or 10 minutes later i have 32GB iphone on pre-order. :D
 
hrm... I tried to order throughout the day and had not much success. Early this morning (around 8 am Eastern) I was able to get to the checkout page twice and submit my credit card info on ATT's site for the order. At that stage it charged $1 to my card but returned an error page with no order number or confirmation (this happened twice)

At 12:47 pm I got an email with an order number that said the order was cancelled due to being unable to verify information or exceeding the number of lines. I only got one email.

Now when I try to do an upgrade I get error P1015 on the att site and the apple store just plain breaks. I have no idea of the first order went through or not... I haven't gotten a confirmation email and there's no order showing on the order status page on ATT's website... anyone got any ideas of what the status might be? Did this or something similar happen to anyone else?

<edit> success for me... now on to the wife's upgrade.
 
I've gotten through to the reservation screen that follows the pricing confirmation screen a few times, but it never sends me to the screen for in-home delivery :( It's like rolling a die and always getting 1 when what you want is 5.

Strange I am able to get to the check out screen, enter my payment info and get to the last step of confirming everything then while processing for a few minutes it says "Ooops a Error Occured"
