yep, been getting the same thing constantly for the past hour. Looks like we're headed to the apple store tomorrow. This is insane, been trying all day just to get to this. Thanks apple.
 
I'm trying to preorder for in store pickup, but I can't get past the page where you select the store. A page with a list of stores on the left and a map on the right loads, but when I select a store, it just loads a pop up about the store. There is no option to continue the order process that I can see. There are three links in the pop up, but they all take me to a new page out of the order process. :confused:
 
The Error I am getting said:
We were unable to complete set up online.
To finish creating your account, you’ll need to visit an Apple Retail Store where we can help you in person.

So if I DO go to an Apple store tomorrow, can they sign me up for a shipped iPhone?

Apple store site is hosed all day (might blame that one on AT$T), but now I finally get through, to find out I can only add one phone to the cart (we have 2 lines and 2 phones). That's beyond retarded. Sticking with my old phone. Well done, Steve !

Now, with the 24 hour mark looming, I am starting to get frustrated myself that SOMEONE hasn't fixed the problem(s) yet.

wondering the same thing, but phones are too busy to except calls, apple is really screwing the pooch on this one

I got through for my phone, but my wife's order keeps giving that same message. I already have a data plan set for unlimited. I have to choose the 2 gig plan for the wife. Not sure if that's causing the issue.

Not sure if I should keep trying, or it's due to being a 2nd ordered iphone on the same account... or ATT blows.

After trying all day... I got my order in and was accepted. However I have yet to receive my email confirmation. However Im not worried yet... I have a printout of my receipt....
 
Finally got in at 7:29 PST. At 7:15, I got all the way up to the confirmation page clicked submit but never got the final Thank You page so I had to start over again. I was worried that my first order may have changed my eligibility status. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had buying anything on line. Upset at the hassle but happy that I am an Apple stockholder. :D


Apple seems to have disabled their order status page.
 
Fuuudgeee!!!! I THINK i finally got tru!!!! I've been trying all damn day, finally now I kept getting to the order page but i'd get the little spinning wheel every time I'd click on Place order.
I decided to hit refresh one of the times while the wheel kept spinning and it went tru and gave me an order confirmation page!! Now i just need to get my email to make sure it went tru and was no fluke
 
seems the site is working now. just went throughout the order process three times. a few hiccups, but not the endless spinning wheels of earlier in the day. completed on my iPad.
 
Got my order through

I spent 16 hours trying to place an order. Not 16 hours straight - but I tried consistently during that time - taking breaks to do the day-to-day stuff that I do. I must have tried well over 200 times during the course of the day.... that's a HUGE number of times to try and place an order. It's aggravating and unnecessary.

Apple and AT&T have been through this enough where it should have been figured out.

Product managers: Load testing - read about it, learn it, live it.

Poor job Apple. Poor job AT&T. Loss of customer goodwill today.

Your English is up there with AT&T and Apple's ability to handle pre-orders. (AKA non-existent)

Been trying to order off and on for hours now from the Apple Store. Finally got all the way to the final place order button, it began 'processing' forever and timed out. When I went to check to see if the order went through anyway, the order status link produced a raw error page over not being able to connect to 'instance'. Now, after about a dozen of those raw error pages, trying to go to the status page produces the following message:

"Thank you for shopping at the Apple Online Store
Apple's Online and phone Order Status services are temporarily unavailable due to a scheduled upgrade to our systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience."

Scheduled my arse.

After many hours of trying, I've finally got my order placed with Apple; though no confirmation email.

I've been using a 3G for 24 months now. I never got a 3GS; thinking my upgrade eligibility would be in pristine status for June 2010. AT&T sure made a sucker out of me.

At least I can keep my unlimited* data plan.

Nope still waiting. Nervous too I think I accidentally ordered 2.

Ordered mine from AT&T at 10:30am Eastern this morning. I printed out the receipt at the end of the order. I left that at work so I don't have my order number and if I check order status using my phone number it doesn't show up. 12 hours later and I haven't gotten a confirmation email from AT&T yet. With my luck, even though I have an order number, they'll tell me it never went through.
 
I can get through the phone part, and the plan part, but then it says I have to complete my order in a store. And they are no longer taking reservations. Luckily I already have a reservation, but I can't say I'm looking forward to being in a long, hectic line at 7 am.
 
Strange I am able to get to the check out screen, enter my payment info and get to the last step of confirming everything then while processing for a few minutes it says "Ooops a Error Occured"

Same thing happened to me as you describe...for the first 20 times or so, it let me go back in and at least have the iphone in my "cart" and would let me go through all the steps to order it including putting in my itunes password, credit card security # etc. and confirm order....then would spin and sputter to say "oops...error" message. What was weird is after several times of this futility, the cart was suddenly empty and I had to start the whole process ALL OVER again. FINALLY - on what must have at minimum been my 200th attempt since 6am this morning - it appears to have gone through. For all the people who blamed AT&T for today's problems, this problem I just had and wasted so much time on tonight had nothing to do with AT&T and was all centered around the payment process/itunes signing in/order confirmation which is handled by APPLE. I am so pissed right now at how much precious time was wasted on this today. Next time, it is better to just wait a couple hours in line then go through this debacle. You think Apple would have learned from the previous releases....bumbling idiots.
