Well, I can promise you, they DID have stock at one time! :) One shipped from ATI to my house, and it is now installed in my Mac Pro, running World of Warcraft (and Aperture 2 / Photoshop).

Jeez :)

Fine, I'll take pictures when I get home from work...

seriously?

pics or it didn't happen

why would someone lie here about a shipment? anyway... I ordered mine thursday from ATI and just confirmed with my spouse, sitting at home is the HD 3870 mac / pc edition.

I called customer service, not the order line, got someone that said yes they were in stock, yours should ship monday, and they apparently were right. I did pay for the expedited shipment :)

Well I ordered mine on Thursday and they said it did not ship because they were out of stock (although they were in stock when I ordered it).

They charged me $20 normal shipping!!!! WTF? No way would I pay more for faster shipping.

I guess I would have gotten my card if I did upgrade my shipping.

They already took the money out of my account.

*chuckles* I hear you... I took the opposite approach, figured they were already taking advantage of me for 20 might as well cough up a bit more to put it through rush.. who knows if thats why mine is sitting at home or if its some dumb luck factor. either way, doesnt give me much confidence in ATI. Hope yours comes soon.

btw.. I just checked their online tracking system... my order is STILL not showing as having shipped! LOL. how lame. And the customer service person was honest, told me thats all she had to go by. So maybe the person you talked to did NOT have the right story.

DUDE I hope your right!

If ATI can only see the same shipping status I can, it might have shipped already :) But I think someone else said they could see that it shipped even though the website status said nothing.

If I get my card soon I will make a video of the unboxing and installation and post on youtube plus provide a link on this thread.

I am working on a HUGE project in Motion right now and the 2600 card is choking, hope this helps.

I think the whole distribution team should be fired !

The way things are supposed to work is, you send an equal amount to your resellers, then you stock them.

OWC, MacMall, etc. should have had these first.... then AMD/ATI should sell them later.

This is a bunch of SH-T. If I had known the Radeon was going to take 2-3 months longer than "shipping at end of May", I would have just bought the 8800GT.

I swear, if I did not use my Mac for business, I would be building a Happle. At least they have the most current GPU's... not 2 year old card that are hit-n-miss and cannot be found.

I hate this GPU lottery BS !

Hey, count yourselves lucky. The rest of the world has to wait until the end of this week/next week before even having a chance of getting one of these cards! :p

Edit: Lovely, G5. Does crossfire use both of those top connectors? If no then is threeway crossfire possible?! :p

Thats' why there are two connectors. It's for chain-linking the cards together You can actually connect up to 4.

However, in the Mac Pro, only two are x16. The other two are x4, and of course, there aren't enough power cables, so I doubt more than 2 are possible in the Mac Pro.

Here are a couple... not taking it out now though..

Did you have to install drivers or anything? or did OS X already have them?

Was it easy to plug the power cables in?

The card came with a driver disk that I installed. The power cable was a bit annoying to thread into the motherboard, but not really difficult.

Did you install the disc before or after you installed the card?

I got my son to do it.. smaller hands. Took him about 15 seconds.

Disk gets installed before. The instructions are very clear.

Got mine today. Plugged it in and it works. Didn't bother to do any drivers or anything. Ordered directly from ATI last week.

I hope I didn't mess anything up by not doing a driver install, but I never RTFM, I just plug things in, LOL.
