Have the same issue here. History does not work at all even after setting it back to regular browsing. Also cannot save any new bookmarks. I have so many bookmarks saved that I don't want to uninstall and reinstall.

Kind of at a standstill. Love the ui of this browser, but the little bugs like history and bookmarks make it difficult.

Same here.

Unfortunately I bought iCab on the recs I read here and it is way worse, so I'm still using the hobbled Atomic with no history.

Just purchased iCab, the interface is much nicer than Atomic.

There was an icon contest on the iCab mobile website, not keen on the winner, prefer the one on the top row that got 15.3% of the vote.

I prefer iCab too and for me it's also the UI that swings it for me. I'm glad to see that icon competition though, and not because I care too much about the icon, it's because I've been getting concerned that iCab was being ignored by the developer because Atomic has put out a couple of updates since the last iCab one. The fact that he's asking for opinions on icons obviously indicates that he's still actively developing it.

I'm really hoping for an iCab update soon since there are a few features that I'd like to see added, the main one being the ability to to define specific sites where a specific user agent can be set to be used for that site only (e.g. for an online banking site that doesn't work well with the default user agent). I emailed the author a while back and he said that he'd already thought of this and was debating on how best to do the UI for the feature so hopefully it'll happen.

I'm pretty sure the developer of iCab — Alexander — is still developing. I sent a suggestion about a month ago and a couple weeks later there was an update including it. So he's definitely not ignoring it.

I am glad to see it'll be getting a new icon though. I like the winner a lot more than the current icon! :)

i just bought the icab and its great , everyone should buy because it holds just a lot of features compared to safari at only $2 ,

i did a couple of speed test and icab is faster than safari clearly

i did try atomic browser but i felt it was a mess a little and not stable i used it few times and it did crash, plus the gui is ugly

The Atomic GUI is a real mystery to me. A lot of thought and attention has clearly gone into certain aspects of the GUI, for instance there's the ability to select a colour scheme which is something that iCab doesn't currently have and I think that they've implemented the full screen mode really nicely. The thing that really kills the Atomic GUI for me though, and keeps me with iCab, is that I just don't like the way the tabs look in Atomic. The flatter all-grey tabs in iCab look so much nicer to me whereas the Atomic tabs look out of place. It's all personal preference I suppose but I'm a bit surprised that Atomic don't try to make the tabs themselves look a bit more professional, to me they look clunky and amateurish right now and don't fit in well with the rest of the look and feel of the app.

Has ANYBODY solved the problem of intercepting hyperlinks in emails to route to a different default browser? I hate using Safari, but sometimes I just stay in it because it easier. If not, why not?

Is it possible to make the default browser some other browser than Safari? This is a DAILY frustration. I hate Safari launching. But in variably, I click on a link and it opens Safari. Surely there is a away around this?

Anybody?????

What are you all doing? Do you go to the trouble of click and hold, copy, then go to iCab, clicks, wait, paste, etc.??????

jailbreak and install browswer changer (i think that is what it is called). it's free and works great. that is the only way... apple won't let you change the default browser so you have to jailbreak to get around that limitation.

i just want to say for the benefit of everyo e out there
after using icab for few days and being forced to use safari as default browser

i can tell you that Safari hinders the web browsing experience on the ipad

ok in simpler terms

Safari SUCKS compared to icab ,i am sorry to saynsince i am a long time apple fan

I sent an email the other dayto the developer, Alexander, of iCab. He responded within 30 minutes. So he's around and answered my question. I'm a big iCab fan. Never used it before the iPad. The 'open tabs in background' is a nice feature.

I've emailed Alexander a few times and had similarly fast replies and they've not just been the brief and noncommital "thanks for the suggestion" type of reply that one so often gets, he always took the time to give some background about either what he was planning because he'd already thought of my suggestion, or why it wasn't technically possible.

Even though I've posted a lot here in support of iCab I am willing to conceed that, apart from the appearance of the tab indicators themselves which I think look really ugly in Atomic and are far nicer in iCab, there isn't really much to choose between iCab and Atomic; both are very capable tabbed browsers with almost identical features. The other factor (apart from the tab appearance) that keeps me with iCab is that I'm so impressed with Alexander's communications with his customers and I feel that I want to reward that fantastic service. It's very possible that Atomic developers are just as responsive of course, it's just that iCab hooked me first.

I'm not sure what iCab has but the best features for me in Atomic are the superb editable ad blocker, the extra brightness slider which takes the screen to almost off with a mask (great if you don't want to disturb people) and the ability to import and export bookmarks.
Richard the dev is a really nice guy, quick enough to reply and always happy to help.

i want to add that i contacted the developer of icab and he responded(didnt expect him to) discussing an issue with youtube videos , so i guess he is not ignoring kind of guy

really helpful

Alexander from iCab is great not just with customers. He writes outstanding technical articles and even helped me with development issue when I contacted him a few months ago. Many apps like mine are silently better because of him. He's worth supporting as someone who makes the entire app ecosystem better.

I'd like to know this as well. This is one thing that drives me crazy about iCab. I feel it is a huge waste of space. for now I'll stick with Atomic till I can get rid of the damn bookmarks bar.

I was curious if anyone has figured out a way to remove the bookmark bar from icab?

How do you synch boookmarks

Does anyone know the process for synching iCab to Safari bookmarks. Right now I synch my iPhone, MBP, and iPad bookmarks through MobileMe. I Googled and reviewed the iCab web site but could not find how to do this.

Never mind. I just read iCab's help menu and figured it out. iCab is a pretty good app.

iCab can do both brightness and import/export (to a Dropbox account).

Brightness is in General Settings - scroll to the bottom.

Import/export is found in Dropbox settings...

EDIT: oh, and great ad filters are in settings too

:D

I have both apps, but haven't really committed to either.

Is there a decent user following for either browser? Looking for tips on optimizing the user experience.

i use atomic it has done everything so great ive never needed another. i may try icab though just for curiosities sake. but yea atomic rocks

Switched to iCab when it started offering ability to download (and upload) to/from dropbox, not looked back yet even though I still have love for Atomic.

The dropbox updates makes it a lot easier to keep my bookmarks in sync, I have both and still prefer icab mobile.

any one checked perfect browser?
its very good too

Atomic seems to be lagging behind, official comparison should be done by some one.

I am still using icab
