ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

My iPhone (Black 32GB) has an order date of 9/14. Both of the other two iPhones I also ordered have order dates of 9/15, though, and one of them (white 32GB) lost it's backorder, but the other (black 32GB) still has it.

Strange thing is, I ordered my iPhone last, yet it has an order date of 9/14.

Nah i ordered the white 16gb figuring no one wanted white compared to the black one. And i haven't been on backorder for days.

As a former employee, I can certainly attest to number porting (especially from sprint...no clue why) delays orders being processed. AT&T has to contact the provider to verify all of the porting information. A department called PAC handles this (Porting and Activations)

If this thing doesn't move faster, I may decide to buy them at the apple store on Friday. If I am able to get the phones for the Apple store, can I:

1. Cancel my AT&T order or refuse to accept the package without any issues??
2. Will the fact that AT&T did something With the porting mess anything up ??

that would be me...I ordered 16gig white at 7:45am EST and still have it on backorder.

Ditto, order finally went thru at 4:08am central for 16gb white and status still shows backordered. I ordered a 32 gb black for another line and already got the CSS email for it, backordered shows 0. Damn the black one, if the white one doesn't come in for the wife I'm not touching mine . I don't think we should get too worried until Thursday or so.

Refuse shipping is best.

Also from the way things were in 2008.....as long as you don't activate the phone they send you...your port won't go through. It will however be a pending port. But I'm not exactly sure if that will mess anything up. My best guess is that it won't effect anything.


But you have until Thursday evening to see if this speeds up or not for you. You can't cancel as it is anyways. So just ride it out and you can always goto the Apple store Friday.

Update: I ordered a 32gb black iphone 5 on the 14th at approx 3:55am ....just checked and my status shows a "0" in backorder now....making some progress......when i ordered my iphone 4 on launch day i got a tracking number shorty after noticing that my status changed from 1 under backorder to 0 so we'll see.....hopefully in the next couple of days....p.s. i ordered thru the premier site as well and i'm on pacific time.

Mine changed within the last 10-20 minutes. I ordered 3 iPhones, 2 changed. One Black 32GB and one White 32GB went through. The one that didn't go through was a Black 32GB. They were all ordered at about 9:30-9:40AM EST.

i ordered at the same time but my 32 gb black was backordered for a few days. other than that im in the same boat and have had all the emails/ texts come through at the same time as you. Hope we get them friday

I definitely wouldn't worry about it at all. They're filling back-orders at lightning speed (err, relatively speaking considering this is AT&t after all) and it will likely ship out Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

was up that morning trying at 3am EST... premier website wasn't working.. couldn't add a line via apple site either.7 am when site came back online.. I wasn't able to add a line from apple or premier (couldn't find a valid data plan and wouldn't let me continue) finally got fed up and added a new line of service via regular ATT website as a brand new customer at 11:02 AM EST... 32gb Black still showing backorder

My pending charge from AT&T keeps on moving to the top if the list. Odd

I saw the exact same thing over the weekend and today!

First it was holding $217.74 (ny tax included) on Friday 9/14, then again went back up to the top at 9/15, now 9/17 and again on 9/18. It sounds like they're releasing and renewing the holds over and over, but it's weird because if it was I'd see a new entry for each time they did that. I only see the same hold with different dates (dates change from one day to another).

Also another charge I made from an e-bay item was above it on Friday and on Saturday it went below, which is why I was thinking they maybe released and renewed.

This is the only email i received since i placed my order. It says it "should" arrive as soon as 21st. Doesn't really give me a definite.

Just got off the phone with AT&T, they said my order had been processed and it was waiting to ship out. She also said the expected ship date for the iPhones are tomorrow, so just because yours hasn't shipped doesn't mean its the end of the world

An update on my order:
I ordered a 16gb black at 3:45a eastern, had to verify identity because of some fraud detection. This delayed my order processing until 12:45pm.

I just went off backorder an hour or so ago.
