My AT&T debacle;

Got through the Apple site by 12:04 am but was told AT&T required a deposit to add a line (16 year customer with zero missed bills).
Tried to get through to AT&T site from 12:05 - 1:37
Got an iPhone pre-ordered at 1:39 with a guarantee that I would receive it on the 21st.
Never saw an email or any sort of confirmation.
Call #1: Friday morning I call AT&T, they let me know my order is pending due to needing a credit authorization.
I pass the credit authorization, the lady tells me I am good and I should receive an email shortly.
I then receive an email saying something went wrong, and I should call immediately.
Call #2: I speak with a gentleman who tells me the first girl got it wrong, and that he was finishing up the order and that I should receive an email in the next 2-4 hours.
Immediately after I hang up the phone, I get a new email telling my my credit card could not be authorized. I then check my bank website and, sure enough i HAD been charged (~250). So I call back.
Call #3: This person tells me that they have no record of me being charged, and that all she could do was escalate the call.
I go to sleep on Friday.
When I wake up Saturday, my credit card had been charged a second time, and my first order replaced, or should i say amended, to include a second iPhone order placed on the 15TH. So I wait for the supervisor who was supposed to call me to call, and realize that at this point I am probably pretty screwed.
Call #4: She calls, lets me know that she cant figure out what was going on and that she would need to escalate this further. I say okay. This was Saturday morning at 8:00 am.
By Sunday afternoon I still hadn't heard from anyone. So I call back. The first person I talk to tells me that the supervisor was able to work everything out, that I would be refunded by Monday when the bank opens, and that I would receive my i5 day one. Cool.
Monday goes by, no money. Tuesday morning, no money. So I check my order status once again to find that the original order (from the 14th) was deleted, and the second order (from the 15th) was the only one left. However, I had still not seen any money from the first one. Still having not heard back from the original supervisor, I call back.
Now, at AT&T, no matter how big an issue, they will not give you a single person to deal with. You have to talk with a new person every time, pass security every time, and reexplain your story, every time. Its beyond obnoxious. They are constantly trying to get you off the phone, and will only do what they can to take your money, and screw you as hard as possible.
Anyway, I call again, this time telling the girl that she needs to cancel everything and refund me all 436 dollars that AT&T owes me before I hang up the phone. She quickly cancelled my order, and I received an email that the order had been cancelled. HOWEVER, nothing in her system showed the original charge, and she only supposedly canceled one of the orders and does not have the other 200 to give me. I am now waiting once again for a supervisor to call. AT&T is lucky I am doing better in life now, or that missing money would be absolutely detrimental to my financial situation. Luckily, I will be able to go to an Apple store and buy an i5 on Friday. I'm guessing that it wont be impossible to find one in an Apple Store. If it is, oh well, Ill get it before the 3 weeks that AT&T was trying to make me wait.

What a bunch of **********.

edit: I was only refunded the 200 extra charge. original charge still pending

So I ordered a 64 gb and 32 at about 1:40 am on the 14th. I just called AT&T customer service because I have not received an email but can see my status as pending and back ordered. The rep told me that me it didn't actually go to processing until the 16th. So I am sitting here on the 18th without a tracking number and the guy told me it will be approx 14-21 business days. Wtf!!! So much for me keeping my azz awake until 2am for what!!

He told me that he ebelieves what held up my phone was the request to port my sprint numbers over, is this true ?? Anyone else in this boat??

Let's make things easy.

Has anyone with Premier gotten a tracking number yet? If so, what time did you order and how?

Has anyone with a regular AT&T order gotten a tracking nubmer yet? If so, what time did you order and how?

This thread needs heavy modding.

If I check it on ATT Order status link given here several times, it shows "Pending Shipment" for tracking number, and "0" for "qty backordered". But date ordered is 09/16/2012????

Anyone else getting different order dates?
I'm seeing that too... nothing to worry about.

I placed my order on the 14th, which is what the order status shows on the Premier web site. The regular ATT order status web page shows the order date of today (18th)!

Here's my theory...

Since my credit card was just charged today, I suspect the regular ATT order status page is pulling the "order date" off the last time the order was updated.

What does Pending Shipment mean?
It means the tracking number will be provided once the order ships.

Of course, you can stay at El Conquistador Hotel, it's a world known hotel in Fajardo, also you can stay at Gran Melia in Rio Grande which is pretty close to Fajardo and San Juan. If you are planning something, be sure to visit: "las cabezas de San Juan Natural Reserve" in Fajardo.

Also you can go to San Cristobal Fort in San Juan, Seven Seas beach in Fajardo, Bioluminescence Bay in Fajardo (Must GO).

Also, if you want to see something amazing go to Camuy, and visit Rio Camuy Caves Park. Camuy is at about 1 hour and 20 minutes from San Juan but the caves are amazing.

If you give me more information about what you are planning or what you would like to do, I can help you better!
Go to Rio!! jejeje Rio Piedras!!

my situation is very similar to yours, without the multiple charges. AT&T really dropped the ball on our orders.

Another concern for us ATT folks is that Apple sold out in the first hour, there are people that ordered at 4:05am EST on Apple and there ship dates are in Oct, most of us on here ordered after this from ATT, I wonder if Apple is holding back shipments to the carriers to fill there orders first, they make a lot more money off the phones when they sell it as opposed to the carrier.

But would ATT, VZW, Sprint, have kept the "Delivers on 9/21" up on their site many hours after Apple sold out of launch day delivery stock. That's what enticed me and probably a lot of other "late comers" to order from ATT, VZW, Sprint, direct. My preference would have been to order from Apple; going to ATT was my backup, and I don't think I was alone.

I also don't think Apple is holding back anything. The carriers knew their allocation well before last Friday, and I'm sure that is the stock they advertised as "delivers on 9/21." Once that was gone is when they went to "14-21 days."

As a former employee, I can certainly attest to number porting (especially from sprint...no clue why) delays orders being processed. AT&T has to contact the provider to verify all of the porting information. A department called PAC handles this (Porting and Activations)

What lesson has everyone learned?

Never pre-order an iPhone from AT&T, ever. They're not in the business of supply chain management which means they're pretty poor at it. Mix in AT&T customer service and you have a recipe for disaster.

If you can't get it through Apple, wait in line at the Apple store. Or wait the extra couple weeks for Apple to deliver it. Don't bother going to an AT&T store on launch day. It will be slow and painful. You'll wish you just waited in line at Apple.

AT&T iPhone pre-orders are notorious for double billing, missing shipments, holding upgrades hostage, screwing business accounts, and general confusion. I'm surprised Apple still allows AT&T any role other than being a cell provider.

From working at ATT at one point. I probably would have assigned myself a temp number. Once my iphone came in, i would have had one of the depts PAC or whoever try to port the number after.

porting the number doesn't even take half a day. i ported my t-mobile number 3 years ago to at&t. and it only took like... maybe an hour or two... as far as i remember.

but you know what, you should've taken a random number and port the sprint number later once you got the phone. porting numbers isn't a hassle.

they are saying orders made after 11:25 at the store will ship in 14-21 business days. But my order does say processing and the store told me itl be here first day. I don't know who to believe!

AT&T Premier

Does anyone know what "Status: Attention" means on my Premier order status page? There's no ship date listed or anything about backorders...

Bingo. I've done this for many customers who needed their phone ASAP. Assign temp number. Ship phone. They activate. Then call PAC. Very simple.

From what I can tell, there have been NO AT&T tracking numbers at all yet.

Usually it doesnt take that long. They usually send you a text if i remember saying your number is ported. And i think at that point you have to powercycle your phone or something. But there are cases that the customer will have to use both phones till the port goes through. You just never know how long it would take.

But I'm assuming you did this from an AT&T store correct? Totally different ball game
