People are so freaking desperate, you've waited a year, can't you just wait until Friday? If you don't get it Friday then I would start worrying but page after page is the same crap. Is this your first time preordering an iPhone? Cause every year is the same and the same and mostly everyone always gets it the day it's released. So calm down and just wait 48 hours

I'm convinced that they have no clue there. I just called them. Here's what they said:

1) Even though my order confirmation email says it will "arrive on 9/21/2012" that it will be 10-14 business days from today.
2) She told me that she has been taking iPhone 5 calls all day and that she hasn't seen any delivery date in their system for 9/21/12. Not a single one.
3) She even said that my status online shouldn't say "backordered" as it has been processed and sent for shipment.

This morning, they said on the phone that I would for sure be getting mine on 9/21. The chat said 10-14 business days. The call tonight said 10-14 business days.

Conclusion: I've wasted hours on this today and I have some serious First World problems.
 
I work from home and I ship out packages everyday and when I check the status it doesn't even show anything even though I already dropped the package off....my status on the att website changed from pending shipment to a tracking number which I'm assuming hasn't been registered with the fedex system...I'm not worried even if it says in progress I'm pretty sure that it will be here Friday.... :) i haven't received a email but that's because it hasn't been officially shipped yet no worries over here

Hmm... you ordered the same phone as me. But i ordered online. Maybe that is why mine is processed. I heard that ppl who ordered in the store had alot of problems with their order. To be honest, i wont be doing this again unless i order through the apple store online. Or camp out.

Maybe they're just having issues with the white ones.. Hopefully that's the case.
 
This is REALLY INCREDIBLE. I have never seen anything like this before. Everyone better hope this phone is PERFECT!!
 
What I'm saying is if you ordered on the phone your order may have gone in after supposed cutoff I don't know when you will get your phone I'm just saying I gave up on getting mine and have an alternate arrangement because I really want this phone :D

at least you got alternate arrangement att is the only place for me
 
Reading all the posts and even feeling slightly bummed about my own order status (still "in progress" even though I've been charged and I've received my CSS two days ago), this has reminded me to never, ever order directly from AT&T again. Regardless of when my phone arrives, this whole ordeal has been nothing short of a disaster. From AT&T customer service reps clearly not knowing what the hell they're talking about; to confusing (and at times, misleading) information on the site and over the phone, I honestly can't see why anyone would order from AT&T again. Doubtful if any of the headaches most of us are experiencing with AT&T would happen with Apple.

And before someone judges me for being a little anal retentive over something as simple as a phone, firstly, suck it, secondly, when it comes to customer service, we should all expect the utmost best. That includes honesty, clarity and where applicable, expeditiousness. AT&T has failed in my book. I usually try my absolute best to be courteous with their phone customer service reps but it is beyond annoying and insulting when they read from a script that doesn't even make sense. And I know it's not the individual reps fault, but seriously... DO BETTER AT&T.

I ordered three iphones 5s, black 16GB at 3:10 EST, all of them are on backorder, no tracking number, no nothing!
I'm tired of reading the same all over again, if they come on friday thats fine if not well what can I do!

got second email last night around 2am (19th), (confirmation but nothing specific)
order went to back ordered zero around 2pm EST sept 19th
8 hours later... just updated to quantity shipped "1" no tracking data, yet...
