just talked to a CSR. Told me I can't cancel the order since I signed the terms and conditions when I ordered the phone. Says they are shipping out first come first serve, but I've already seen others on here that ordered after me that have had their phone shipped. Pretty Lame.

I ordered at 2:07am central and I'm still on backorder. It's laughable.
AT&T called me yesterday due to my responses to a survey and they aren't taking any responsibility. The person I spoke with is blaming Apple and claims that they have absolutely no control over the process. She said Apple decides which orders they will fill and when and that they never even touch the phones. She claims every single pre-order comes direct from Apple from China and that none of them go through AT&T shipping centers. That seems a bit wrong to me since several people posted tracking info which was originating in the US. She basically said there's nothing AT&T can do besides cancel the order which isn't even guaranteed because they have to cancel it with Apple and wait to see if the cancellation goes through.

Just for future reference...is it really true that this level of nonsense with pre-orders occurs each time a new iPhone model is released? 'Cause I don't ever want to go through this again. Of course, waiting in long lines outside an Apple store doesn't exactly strike me as appealing either. 
It looks like there have not been any backorders cleared in the past 24 hours. My gut tells me that if yours is still showing 1 as backorder that we are going to be waiting until the October 4-15 timeframe.

just received word that my gf's 16gb model is being shipped and arriving on the 1st, but my 32gb model which i ordered before hers hasnt received similar love.
Pre-ordered 9/17 @ 1:00am on the Gulf Coast. I've got a 1407 order #. Still on backorder. I really don't think the order # has much to do with when our phones will ship, but it'd be bad ass if it did go by order #'s, cause that'd men I'd hopefully be getting mine this week
Do we have to sign for these? Mine is on the truck, but my stay at home person, didn't stay at home? It's FedEx, I had to go to work

No updates, but...
My order status has not been updated since I ordered the phone, so I just contacted them to ask what was happening with iPhone 5 deliveries.
Not much of a surprise to be told that they were out of that product, had no idea when they would be getting any, and that they were sorry about that.
About what I figured. Oh well...

On a Sunday no less. Mine like others has been added to the Fed Ex system as of Sept 23 with an estimated delivery date of the 25th (tomorrow)
Glad I didn't panic and waste time calling ATT etc.

Well, it got there in just these few minutes according to tracking, no signature required, whew! Hang in there folks, I know it's hard.

Hoping to get my phone tomorrow.. i got a tracking # but it said processing but my sim card said shipped and both of em has same tracking #. It said Estimated delivery 25th which is tomorrow by 3 pm.

Also, I'm a bit worried, I see some of you have received emails and I haven't received a single thing yet and I do remember giving the guy my email address because I had to repeat it like 10 times.

I had a 1010 number. Called 611 and the CSR took 20 minutes to say she can't cancel my order. She said she tried but couldn't do it. Transferred me to online services and no one ever came on the line. Hung up and called 611 again and got someone who was able to cancel my order and immediately refresh my upgrade status. She said not all of the CSRs know how to do this. I know, ridiculous. I'm taking my chances at the apple store.
Ordered a 32gb Black/Slate iPhone 5 at AT&T store on 9/14 @ 10:40am Eastern Time. Phone went off of backordered status around 10PM Saturday. Order shipped/tracking info posted at 12PM today. There is still hope!

Just another thought, does anyone know what the "Shipping Order Number" is? I got in an order confirmation email after I accepted the terms, the subject of the email was "Your recent ATT order status".
Shipping Order Number starts with V500-OY-****** the last 6 are all numbers

Ordered 2 white 16gb iPhone 5's on the 14th around 2:30pm. This morning I called att and spoke with someone about the status of my order. The lady told me my phones will ship the first week of October and would arrive in 14-21 business days. Just checked the online order status page and both phones shipped today via FedEx and will arrive by 3:00pm tomorrow.
Could you let us know what the four first digits of his order number are?
Mine are 1406.
I don't think this really matters, but somehow it gives us a little hope

Unfortunately I'm still waiting. What were the first 4 numbers of your order number? Hopefully they were 1406, that would make me a lot more hopefully.
