While I am happy to be getting my phone after what seemed like a long time, I sincerely hope that anyone else who placed a preorder on 9/14 or 9/15 gets theirs first and soon.

I can't believe this! Mine is still backordered, EXTP8899811***. I called the CS line and they told me that it could be as late as Oct 10! I was promised 7-14 days. She only offered to wave my activation fee and gave me a $25 credit for the trouble.
Anyone else out there with the EXTP8899811*** let me know how you stand.
I ordered on the 14th, early in the morning. Accepted the ToC before 12pm EST.
EXTP8899832... Ordered 2 iphone 5's on the 17th, they are in transit with fedex for Oct 1st delivery....
Being in Alaska, I really was not expecting them to be in transit so soon.....
Same thing on Firefox - Safari browser working. Not that it does any good - backorder forever!
AT&T Preorder + Apple Store Pickup
32GB Black, Ordered 6PM EST 9/14. Still on back order.
I'm thinking about getting to the Apple Store first thing Saturday morning to pick one up in case mine doesn't ship by tomorrow, but I don't want to cancel my preorder and risk losing it if I don't get one at the Apple store. Considering that my upgrade is no longer available due to being held for the preorder, does anyone know a way around this? I was thinking about setting up a new account on AT&T at the Apple Store, then cancelling my preorder after getting the new phone, then returning the iPhone, cancelling the new account and asking the apple employee to re-sell it to me on my current account.
Has anybody found a loophole? I already called AT&T Customer Service and asked them to add an upgrade to my account but they wouldn't.

Out of curiosity, were you upgrading from a dumbphone to iPhone or smartphone to iPhone?
I'm in that same order range (EXTP889981XXXX). Did you order a Black 32GB? That's what I ordered, and they seem to be running several days behind pretty much every other model. They clearly got in a large shipment of 64GB's yesterday or the day before, because those are now being shipped out (or at least off backorder) for people that ordered within the last week. The only Black 32GB orders I've seen with any movement over the past couple of days (or even really since launch day) seem to be people that ordered early on the 14th.
I ordered over the phone at 12:06 pm EDT on the 14th, accepted T&C's at 12:08 pm, but didn't receive my email confirmation until 7:03 am on the 15th. My order status page has an order date of 9/15.
It does seem like AT&T should be due to receive a large shipment of Black 32GB phones soon, so hopefully that will at least get a lot of us off of backorder. For your own sanity, you're better off not calling CS to check on the status of your order, because they basically can only see the same information that's on the order status page and they've obviously been instructed to give you the worst-case scenario delivery date. I doubt you or I will have our phones by this weekend at this point, but I would expect that we should have them no later than this time next week. (Not that that makes you feel any better).

It's a company line. I originally had the 4S on that line, then switched it to an unlocked T-Mobile S3 couple weeks ago.
If you don't have a great grandfathered in rate plan, leave AT&T and the nonsense behind you!
If I didn't have a great plan, my fiancée's phone on my plan, and their u-verse; I would've been on Verizon days ago.

Shipped yesterday from TX, arriving today via FedEx...which is actually sooner than the 14-21 days I was quoted. Go figure.

I do have a grandfathered unlimited data plan, but I just looked at my usage and saw that I only average just 1.5GB/month and never even break 2GB...
