:D my whole order process (2 iphones 5 32 black)

1. Pre-ordered on the 14th at the ATT Store
2. email said 14-21 days.
3 :mad: on the 27 i called att :mad:
3. came off Backorder on the 28
4. tracking number same day.
5.fedex delivered today at 2:30PM
 
I'm convinced that AT&T doesn't want my business. Ordered online 9/14 around 10AM CT to port my number in from another carrier. Was looking at my order status on the 16th and it said ATTENTION. Called CS and was told that they thought I was fraud and I had to answer questions about my credit report. I guess one was wrong so I didn't pass their test. To finish processing my order I was to go into a store with two forms of ID to prove who I was.

The dude at the store didn't know anything about anything. I had to direct him to call the customer service number for which we waited on hold for 1hr 30 minutes on 9/17. I had to get back to work so I called back CS at my desk and waited another 1 hr 30 min at which point I was told my order was cancelled. Again no explanation.

I went to the store and placed an order for a white 16GB iPhone at approx 7pm CT on 9/17. Still on back order. From what I can tell they got a large shipment of 64GB and shipped those out to folks this week, 32GB seem to be going out and from what I can tell the 16GB is pretty much at a standstill right now. Doesn't seem like store placed orders are going out as quickly as online orders. You can bet when I activate my phone I'm going to lay into them and see what they can do to convince me not to take my business elsewhere. Even the tiniest interaction with AT&T is excruciatingly difficult thanks to their commitment to NOT giving good customer service. Geesh. They deserve the Consumerist Golden Poo Award!

Should I bother ordering one online (through AT&T premiere)? Says 2-3 weeks before it ships.

I just ordered one for my wife today. It's interesting that AT&T has a 2 -3 week estimate and Apple has 3 - 4 weeks.

You don't live near an Apple Store? The online reservation at 10pm is so much more convenient than sitting, waiting and not knowing any details about when your iPhone will ship.

I would normally agree with you, but especially on the West coast there aren't many AT&T phones. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Verizon or Sprint handset so there are a lot of reservation success stories. There is a thread dedicated to Apple's reservation with specifics.

When you activate your phone they've won and won't care for another two years. But if you decide to try then good luck!

But, it's at a nice mall, so maybe I could make a fun day trip out of it.

Well, actually, I'm doing a device upgrade swap, so I'm not sure if Apple will let me do that, or at least let me leave with it unactivated so I can take it to the nearest AT&T =\

They should be able to do it all. Check online Rightmnowb ou ay be able to reserve it a 10pm local time

Hrmm, just checked 32/64GB black/white... all out of stock! hahah. It's okay, I'm in no rush, so I'll just keep checking throughout the next couple weeks :)
 
And suddenly my premier order status has gone to 'pending" with absolutely no information at all... i hope this is just some random middle of the night maintenance thing.

Ordered at AT&T Store on 9/14 around 5:00PM. Received first email today at 11:00. Phone is being delivered 2nd Day Air with UPS and is currently in Fort Worth, Texas.
 
I had a feeling, well a hope, that my 64 would ship sooner than later, just cuz the highest priced ones aren't ordered as much. It wasn't the reason I ordered a 64, a 32 would have been fine, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't have a repeat of my iphone 4 16GB, where I wish I had gotten something bigger.

Mine too! 32G Black iPhone 5. Ordered Sep 14 at 1:30 pm CT. Received email around 11 pm, 2nd day air with UPS, left Fort Worth tonight, it's supposed to be delivered on monday Oct 1st but since I live in Houston, (3 hours away from Ft Worth), maybe it could be delivered tomorrow :D
 
I ordered at 4am on the 14th. Finally got tracking number coming FedEx delivery is Monday for 32gb black order numb 1504
 
I have to go through ATT to get my company discount for services and forgot all about the freakin preorder date, so my order didn't get processed until the 16th. Not a word from ATT since and their website still just says 'order being processed.'

I went with only 16GB this time. I've only been using about 12GB out of 32GB on my iphone 4 since I got it.
Got a ton of pics, music, and even some videos and still have room to spare. It's not as if you can't delete something if you run out of storage, plus it's all still on your computer in itunes.

Oh well, need to order a new case while I'm waiting. My Speck case for my iphone 4 has kept it in brand new condition so I'm going to get another one.

At least ATT is having a contest for a year's free service and a $50 Amazon gift card every day you log in to check your usage.

If this is true, and you really ordered on tues 9/25, then you got super lucky and I hate AT&T.

I had the same, EXACT experience! Being a brand new AT&T customer, I ordered online on 14th 7 am and after 2 days of "pending" status, I called CCR and was told to go to store to verify my ID. The store rep said, "what?!? What do I have to do? Cant do it. Its not that easy..." So I had to place another order on the spot, on 16th, and I opted the delivery to store, hoping that it will be faster, since AT&T might bundle it with other stocks for the store.
