I ordered on the 15th. didn't get processed til the 20th and still on BO. Yesterday the person on the phone said could be waiting til Oct 14th....soooo.

I came off BO Last night still no shipping customer service gave me the same date as you .monday the earliest. I was really hoping to get it by this Saturday.

Just called them again... the line that I'm upgrading isnt my primary phone its one that I was waiting out the upgrade on for this phone. I bought a Pantech Impact (yuck!) off craigslist to use with it for the time being. All I do is use it as a hotspot when I'm working away from wifi at home or whatnot and its the number I use for work related stuff so I'm not giving my personal number to the world. So I'm doing a cross upgrade and putting 5 on my primary and using 4S on the other one. My primary is upgradable in Nov. IF there is any phones my husband will take that upgrade. They gotta love us and our yearly round of cross upgrades lol. Last year I took his, he took my daughters, my daughter took his workline and he used the 4 for it and I held out on this one for the 5. I'm proud of myself that I held out this long for it! I hate that Pantech. I hate the whole android system! I tried to use a Galaxy S II, that was purgatory!!

But the sim in my pantech is messed up, the metal is kinda peeling a bit bc I've used that SIM for 3 years. I cant keep a connection on it. It says insert sim then it works then insert sim etc... I tried to do work while at the car repair shop waiting yesterday and it wouldnt even stay connected long enough to load a page I'm paying for a 5g Tether plan and it doesnt work. I went into an at&t store last weekend and the guy was going to swap my sim and couldnt because of this pending order. WTF I mean obviously the sim in the phone now is whats tied to the line, they havent assigned the new sim to the line because its not even off backorder. So todays call I managed to get the $50 data plan credited back to my account for this month.And that rep said if I find a phone I can call them and cancel and they will reset status right there. Gee... that would have been nice when I DID find a phone!

Oh well I'm scheduled to get it in the 2nd or 3rd week of Oct per their "policy" he said.. and the stupid t&c again.

They owe everyone a free otterbox or something! This is insane! If I had waited until the 20th to order I'd be like ok my bad I lagged on it, but I got up at the crack of dawn on the 14th to order and even though I have proof its like it never even happened.

All I gotta say is I BETTER have mine BEFORE my friend on Sprint that ordered on the 28th bc I'm not having him rubbing his crappy Sprint phone in my face lol.

Ok just got tracking number exactly 24 hrs after coming off BO. No shipping date yet but progress.
 
So I ordered the 21st but order date says 23rd a 32GB Black & Slate. Today order status says pending shipment under tracking number but still processing under shipment status. I did the online chat and they said shipment 22nd-29th. I had a holding pending payment for phone but now that's gone.

Wishing for the best but I'm probably getting it by end of month :(

Off Back Order Saturday 9/29/12 still no tracking information... Order 16GB Black. Called multiple times get a response that it will ship some time between the 5-14...
 
Officially 96 hours off of backorder & no shipping information.

This is bull.

With all this lag between BO 0 and shipping, then AT&T taking forever to send UPS billing info so the shipping timer can begin, it's not even exciting waiting for BO 0 anymore.
 
Yeah all the 32's and 64's are going faster. They are shipping loads of black 32's right now it seems. What about White 16's??? Anyone order a white 16 after the 17th and had it come off BO yet??
 
Hey all. Long time lurker...thought I would chime in with my status. My status is identical to the new crop of complaints posted here.


Preordered my wife the 16GB WHITE on 9/14.
Preordered myself 16GB WHITE on 9/14 through AT&T Business but was processed 9/17.

Fortunately for my wife, she received hers on 9/24.

Then their is me. BO dropped to 0 Saturday evening 9/29. Pending shipment with no progress. I have made multiple calls, with CSRs spouting the same regurgitative line about possibly shipping 10/4-10/14.

This is very frustrating!

Just came off backorder (10/2 11:50 PM cst) finally!

Update 10/3:
- This morning: changed to Shipment Pending (no info or tracking number)
- Noon: no change
- 7:30 PM got tracking number, delivery late Friday :)
- Going out of town at 7 am Friday :mad:
- Wife will be home. Told her don't open it or else! :cool:
- Sunday night: papa got a brand new dance! :D

Alright y'all..... I've followed this thread for like 10 days just using y'all as my glimpse of hope and I think it's time to chime in.
So here's my story-
Preorder via premier 9/14 at 7am EST

Email confirm right away then nothing

9/20 I noticed they didn't have my apt number so I called and they said they couldn't change it I was stuck. I was a bit worried but he said I could call ups once it shipped in the next 24-48 hours and have them hold if at the hub.

9/24 Monday no change via the premier site so I called to see what was up. 3 hours being shuffled from rep to rep being told everything from 24 hours to 28 days. Excuse after excuse.... Apple didn't make enough, the orders were overwhelming, I didn't order before 8am eastern on 9/14 (I did though) and then the I didn't accept terms and conditions crap. I've preordered every flippin year and that's never had to be done. You check a bunch of boxes when you do your order!
I told them to cancel the order and the line I'm not in contract anymore. I was seriously gonna go to sprint and their service is crap here I live in Tampa and they don't even have 4g yet via sprint. But I was pissed!
The call was disconnected while on the phone with the retention dept and then I see and email saying my order was canceled but the line was still on my plan.

Go to best buy for printer ink. Saw the 5 there touched it oh la la etc... I knew my order was canceled so I thought hey ill ask if they have 1. They DID!!! 1... But my line said I wasn't eligible Til 2014. Wtf?!? I called att to try to get the upgrade eligibility fixed so I could get the phone.
Best buy agrees to hold it Til the next morning and I leave a little heartbroken calling att.

Rep I got was nice and polite and as I explained to her that they cancelled my order I needed my thing reset. She said no your order is here. I said no its not I'm logging in and I see it canceled. She said you ordered on 9/20 via phone. I said no I ordered 9/14 via online then she read the notes and said my T&C must have been completed on 9/20. I said wtf is this crap?!? I've never had to do that. She said I should have gotten an email with a link to do it. Nope. Never did. I actually haven't gotten any communication except the orig order confirm and the cancellation then the fwd if the other order I was totally unaware of that the rep sent me.
She said there was no way to cancel and she would waive my upgrade fee and such. I said att should be giving customers like a $20 bill credit on top of that for the premier customers that fell off the planet. She gave me a $25 credit. She admitted they f'd up and that my order was one that just fell through the system.
Had I not called on the 20th would I even have had an order?!?? Who knows!
So I was told by her 10/10-10/18 arrival. She said she would do a follow up call on 10/20 and if I didn't have it she would find one locally and make them hold it or bring upper management into it. I respected her kindness and honesty that yes indeed the screwed up hardcore.

The wait sucks but I just wanted to know WHEN to expect it bc I was given like a 6 week timeframe and I kinda have a life and stuff.

Idk about all of y'all but we have a 5 line plan. Our bill is $320 a month as well as a 2 line (per say) ipad plan on 2 of those at $125 a month. We pay att $450 a month!! We've been customers for 12 years! I've always preordered via them. I got my 4 2 days before release. 4S was 2 days after. I've always thought premier support was better than regular until like a year ago and it seemed to be more outsourcing to ppl that had no clue.

So... I haven't gotten any order correspondence regarding the 9/20 order but I can login to the one site and it shows BO 1. I ordered a black 16gb.

What have I learned here? Get it in writing! Signed by a person acknowledging what the statement says, if you do it over a phone get a name and id. Follow up and take notes. Keep calm yet assert that you won't be taken advantage of. That despite what I've denied and fought against my droid head friends I am an apple fangirl :-/ lol I must have the newest iPhone, ipad I'm cool with my 2, when I went to upgrade my MacBook I actually got a Samsung series 9 which had way better specs at half the price and looks surprisingly like a MacBook Pro minus the apple on the back (hmmm who's copycating who again ;) ) but I neeeeeed the new phone. Maybe they have brainwashing chips in the iPhones that make us all panic when a new one comes out and we must have it. I mean look at this madness! An almost 500 page thread on att orders alone! Is sprint and Verizon this back logged?


I feel your pain Batgirl. I too ordered on the 14th and have a very similar story but I did get my T&C signed and returned right then while I was on the phone ordering. But then my order, like many people on this thread, didn't actually get placed until the 18th. I have had about 3 calls into AT&T since my initial order just to get status and such. AT&T does exactly as you say. They have specific lines that they will use to get you somewhat satisfied and off the phone. Turns out most of what they tell us is not true. I actually had my last rep tell me that if I get this upset about a "phone" then I have bigger issues to deal with. Really? Seriously? First, I couldnt believe that she even said that to me and I told her as such and then said, "you think that this is about a phone at this point? This is about all of the lies you have told me and the exceedingly crappy service that we as customers of AT&T for many years a receiving. That is the unbelievable part". I went on and said some other intelligent BS and then just said im done. I cant talk to you any more you are just sucking the positive right out of me. I should note that before I hung up, she had told me the same as most of the others here that it should be set up for delivery before the 17th. So the call is over and I decide to not call anymore and just wait, it will get here when it gets here. Then the amazing thing happened. While up late doing my homework last night 2am eastern, I get an email from AT&T. I thought it may be an apology for the behavior of their rep. Turns out my iPhone5 has been sent by overnight delivery and will be here tomorrow the 4th by 3pm. I have read others posts here who had the same thing happen. So I wonder if our calls are getting through to them. Maybe you will get an email tonight with the same purpose. I hope that you do. Sorry for the lengthily post but I wanted to give you some hope and maybe it will turn out the same for you. Best of luck. Now I am having a hard time finding a case that I want. They are all on pre-order as well, lol. And so it begins again.
 
Ordered over phone on 20th, processed 21st. Two phones: 16gb and 32gb black. Got taken off BO earlier today probably around noonish. Hoping it ships for tomorrow. Getting stuck in "waiting for shipping" hell seems way worse than BO hell.

I was under the assumption that everybody's preorders were overnighted so if you got your tracking number today, it would be delivered tomorrow. I guess not... Now I'm a little scared that I'll get tracking tomorrow but have to wait until Monday for the phone.
 
iPhone 5 unity!

I've been keeping up with this thread and I've noticed how different it is from others - people are actually friendly and helpful! So I decided to join you all....

I've noticed a lot of people saying their phones are in BO for several days. I just ordered mine on Oct. 1 (thanks, upgrade rules), and the AT&T site already got rid of the BO status and is pending shipment - dare I get excited? I ordered a white 32GB.

You should be excited that they have a phone for you. Even if it doesn't get delivered until next week, you're still way before the estimated ship date that they gave you when you ordered the phone. I also know someone who ordered a 32gb white over the phone on Oct 1 but is still backordered so you're ahead in the game already.
