So if I go through the process of opening a new line on my account through the apple website, I'd have to choose a new phone number, right? Or is there a way to keep it? I guess not, if it's not an upgrade... I just don't want to make things more confusing! I keep telling myself to wait it out, it'll just be a few more days... blah blah...but then a few days comes and goes and no progress. Just tired of it.

Has anyone received their 16gb white yet that ordered around Sept 18, 19, 20? I ordered mine on 9/20 through an att store and I'm still waiting.:mad:

So I depart this thread, noting that most of these thousands of posts would have been completely unnecessary if AT&T had posted some general updates on delivery status on it's web site! I must say that AT&T met the delivery target they gave me when I ordered. Also they knocked off the $36 upgrade fee just because I called for a status update.

The iPhone is restoring my data as I write; my first impression is the sheer elegance of the thing. I hope the black anodized aluminum holds up, it doesn't look very durable despite how attractive it is.

I hope everyone else gets theirs SOON!
 
I didn't check those areas but for the most part most stores in FL had white 16 in stock none had black ones. Check apples website and select in store pickup and it'll let you check stock

OK, will it check stock in AT&T stores or only apple stores?
Do you have to put in all your credit information before you get to this "Check Stock" part?

I agree, if they would have been pro active and informative it absolutely would have made a difference!

Steph the truth is when ATT says that they're fulfilling orders at the rate they come in they're being less than honest. I've seen people who ordered as late or the 21st of September already with their phones as of the 5th, and there are still customers who ordered on the 14th who have yet to receive their phones.

I ordered mine on the 18th, but at the rate ATT is fulfilling orders I'm sure there will be people who ordered their phones in October who get theirs before I get mine- it's just the service I've come to expect from ATT...

I tried this last night..it will only check stock at an Apple store. You do not have to put in your credit information before checking.
 
I don't think Apple stores are seeing shortages, at least not the ones in the larger metropolitan areas.

I'm not really in what I would even call a large metropolitan area, but local Apple store had a sign outside their doors last night saying there were no iPhones available. First time I had ever seen that.

I found a phone at Apple local, reserved it under another line at full price which I did with my 4S last year and things got taken care of to cancel and reverse existing backorder in a matter of minutes and I told apple which line to apply the upgrade to and done.

I didn't post my long dramatic saga with att last night. 4 hours on the fn phone with them because I'm being charged $60+ tax and the upgrade fee which was supposed to be waived due to their screw up. Well I went straight to cancel my service option, 2 hours with Gil he was super nice. My bill was due on the 2nd but I wasn't paying it until I got the charges for stuff I don't even have removed. Prorated data for 1/2 of Sept and a full month for oct plus that $36 fee and none of the prior promised credits on my bill. He at least got the fee pushed to a future bill for me to deal with later and cut the data from the $50 plan to the min $20 plan. And that took a whole bunch of over rides. He advised that to save a little more I only actually use around 200-300 of my 1400 min between all 5 lines and should cut to the 700 plan for $20 less. I said well I would but I loose my 12k in roll over (hey ya never know when ya might need em lol) and I loose a list which us the biggest reason I keep the higher plan. My few landline calls are numbers on there that's how I keep my mins low. It's just my parents his parents and my grandma but I like to be safe. I've had the 1400 plan from the beginning of the ice age. He said he'd credit 4000 roll over to me and keep my a list at no charge I said ok ill give it a shot.
But them he said he wasn't sure about premier orders but their orders through reg service the minute you go past due no matter if you pay your bill the very next day your order is cancelled. So after his changes and such my $290 bill was at $249. He put me on hold to transfer to premier to see if my order existed before I agreed to pay my bill.
Dude there said indeed he knew my frustration. It's been a hot crazy mess from day one but that my order WAS cancelled I was W... T.... F.... a courtesy call, text, email etc saying if my bill wasn't paid in x days my order would be cancelled would have been appropriate.
He said he was sending me to his management to try to resolve it and to stay on the line. On hold 10 minutes and guess where I ended up... The main menu! Where I started.
I pushed cancel my service again and the sweet southern girl was gone 3 hours and 20 min of my life had ticked away by then. I said what's the point in this crap! I don't even need this line!! We keep 5 lines bc if all our cross upgrades which is what this is but the line it's cross upgrading is eligible nov 15. That upgrade was what my husband was using. He listened to me rant about things and said let me see your notes over the calls you've made.
He came back and said ok so I see here you called earlier last week to cancel due to buyers remorse.... I said remorse????!!?!??! Are you fn kidding me??? I wanted to cancel when my wait went from 24 hours to 28 days and there was absolutely no consistency in when I'd receive it. But remorse was far from the reasoning. It somehow was cancelled by an incompetent rep I got that email no real others. I called to ask them why that was done without my ok and if they cancelled the order cancel the line as well. They told me I'd have to get a call back and I said screw this and accepted that it was cancelled and at least I could pursue a hunt for a local phone. There was no remorse there period!
Found a phone on 9/26 by coincidence at beat buy and was going to get it. He said it says you've already used your upgrade. I said no they supposedly cancelled that. I called to get upgrade reset and was told I had an order in process.... What???? It was placed by me via phone on 9/20. Umm no. And that was the first I'd heard of that so I had an order due to ship 10/10-10/18 and there was no way it could be cancelled.
Grrrrr fine but I want that order info so she fwd the email about it.

Back to my call last night after the so called remorse part I go to customer retention management who said well the big Reason your order didn't ship as it should have from the 9/14 order on 9/21 like it should have bc they had one in stock to ship was because I tried to double upgrade and placed 2 orders putting both on hold until the first was cancelled. I said i did not place 2 orders an incompetent csr apparently did and I had no idea. Then she said my order was NOT cancelled like premier said bc if so it would say it but it said in process pending shipment. Premier must have seen the other order. I again told her I didn't know why I should believe her she said shed give her first and last name direct line title all that and I could call her directly if I didn't get my order. I said ok so if I pay my bill now my phone isn't in limbo and she said no but she wouldn't wait too much longer bc it def wouldnt ship with a balance due. She did a few more random credits getting my 249 down to 199. I hung up at 850p bc I was tired and hungry Bc and over it.
I paid my bill and checked apples site.... Ta da!!! A phone!!! Reserved and this morning called again to say ok I found a phone I have no faith you'll be shipping my phone next week. I want it cancelled no ifs ands or buts and my upgrade immediately reinstated. No can do. If they cancel my upgrade gets pushed out 3 months bc I backed out. I wasn't spending my whole day with them and said screw it its white anyway I want black. Cancelled with apple.
I'm sooo over this! I am seriously considering sprint just bc is save money and if I keep the 2 grandfathered unlimited data plans with att and get 1 line on sprint I have 30 days to say if happy with that service or not and I think adding a line back to att would be easier than this crap. I'm out if contract on 2 lines and 6 months left on 1. I could easily cut my lines. And at this point if no phone ships on the 10th I'm calling back to do so.
A 10 year customer with 5 lines of service that pays a high enough bill to prob pay a week of a csr pay. I already cancelled the no contract 4g data on my iPads. Although the fact they're carrier tied is crap.
Anyone else have any updates?
 
Well I called corporate and the bot read me my order status. Then it asked if I wanted to be connected to a rep for further assistance and when I said yes it said, "sorry I cannot connect at this time." It repeated this at every attempt I made. I was going to ask for my estimated ship date and if this Foxconn thing will affect anything (as if they'd know lol).
 
I ordered my white 16g via AT&T store on 9/29. Got sick of waiting for the apparent weeks and weeks so I went on Apple.com last night a tad after 10pm and reserved one to be picked up in-store this morning. All 3 stores in my area had available iPhone 5's.

This may be the route some of you might look into taking. After I pick up my new phone I will be walking next door to the AT&T store and cancelling my order!

The ones here in Chicago have them- especially downtown on Michigan Avenue and in Lincoln Park...
 
I ordered my white 16g via AT&T store on 9/29. Got sick of waiting for the apparent weeks and weeks so I went on Apple.com last night a tad after 10pm and reserved one to be picked up in-store this morning. All 3 stores in my area had available iPhone 5's.

This may be the route some of you might look into taking. After I pick up my new phone I will be walking next door to the AT&T store and cancelling my order!

I have a business account so I can't do this. But do you think I could open a new account doing this, and then transfer the line over to my business account? Just so I can actually get a phone? Lol

I asked for a supervisor to see if i can just cancel all of my lines since i am out of contract, without bring the supervisor on line i am told that i cant even cancel my service because my order is processing and once i receive the phones i can cancel then. ATT cancellation policy is 30 days, if i dont get the phone till after 21st, it will be passed the grace period and i will be stuck in a contract. I again asked for a supervisor and after being placed on hold for over 11 minutes i got hung up on.



NOW I AM FURIOUS. time to report this issue to BBB. enough is enough, i patiently kept waiting and kept agreeing to their responses, but after todays experience i cant be nice anymore.

Got mine 16g/black ATT yesterday night from Grand Central store pre-ordered before 10PM. No issues and it was great to get phone while most people using old one and waiting for stock :) Case is must for this phone, extremely scratch-able body.
