Hmmm...guess what I get for waiting. Was going to sell my iPhone 4 thru ebay instant and they will give me up to the 1st to ship my phone to them. Looks like I could be out of a phone for awhile...
 
Everyone seems to be getting so worked up because of the status whether it says backordered or not. Has anyone stopped to think that there are so many preorders that the system is trying to process and update the status for every one of them that the system is having a hard time keeping up?

When you placed your orders, there was nowhere that said it was "Guaranteed" to get to your doorstep on the 21st. Mine said that it could get to me as early as the 21st. As a veteran iPhone pre-orderer, I can vouch for the fact that all the customer service reps are running around like chickens with their heads cut off and dont know what is going on. Just stop worrying and getting worked up for nothing, if you got your order in at before a certain time on the 14th (10-11AM is probably something they are telling people because they really dont know) then you will get it after the first batch of preorders ship out. ATT made an announcement that the iPhone 5 broke pre sales records but they failed to mention how many. This is probably because they are having a hard time keeping up with processing all the orders. Some people are complaining that they have pending charges on their cards that have dropped off and arent there anymore. When you put your CC info into the system ATT probably authorized it and wont finalize it until they process the order. Alot of banks will drop an authorization off of the card if it is not finalized within a certain amount of time but that does not mean that it cant still be finalized.

Everyone just needs to chill out. Its only Monday. ATT usually ships next day air so they still have 2 1/2 days to get through all of this. Relax, quit worrying. ATT probably has a stockpile of the phones to ship from within the country. Apple is shipping out phones now becuase they have to come from china and takes longer to get here.

Come seriously people its a phone stop acting like your "life sucks" or it won't be the same if you don't have it day of release. Grow up I get the whole being excited and wanting a new toy. But for real look and what is going on in the world around you. If people paid as much attention to the elections and world events as they do with the iPhone 5 maybe "We the people" would get some things right for once!

I ordered a black 64GB through Premier site on 9/14 at 6:20AM EST. Got the "Should get your phone as soon as 9/21" email, nothing else since.

There has been a pending charge for the full amount on my CC this whole time. The full charge has not come through yet.

The link included in the email (to the premier site) still shows "Processing Preorder", with the option to cancel.

If I go to wireless.att.com/order_status, the "Backorder" quantity was showing '1', but just changed to '0' sometime in the last couple hours. Still shows "In Progress" and "Pending Shipment".

At this point, I don't know what to think. Just hoping that it's good news!
 
LOL... this is my first try with AT&T and it will be my last. I will order direct from Apple from now on!!!

I tried both online and on the phone and couldn't get thru. I had to go thru ATT or risk not getting an order in early enough at all. The is my first iphone so at least next time I will have the app on my phone. :D

I placed 2 different orders around 10:15 Am and 10:25AM CST by phone and as soon as I hung up there were two pending charges in my bank account.
So yesterday night, one of my had the back order amount changed to 0 and the other one just changed this morning. The weird thing is that I got my e-mail confirmation by 2PM and said the 14-21 days shenanigans.
Who knows what is going on.

Yea I get what you are saying. But reading things like "my life sucks" because it won't be here for another two weeks is just pathetic in my opinion. I love apple as well but I am not going to let it ruin my week or stress me out too much.
 
I didn't even get any email saying how long or what date it should be delivered not even a 14-21 day one. I had the Order Received email an hour after I ordered 9am est 9/14 saying Please Accept Terms & COnditions and that email just had all the info of the phones and costs I ordered along with what my plan is.

After I accepted the T&C (which wasn't until 9/15 because that first email went to spam) I got another email that was from At&T Order Status and it was an order confirmation and had read: "Your order is processing and you will receive a separate email containing your tracking number and shipment information." Then it listed the 2 phones again, but never anything about dates.

Anyone else not get anything about delivery dates?

I ordered by phone, still says backordered 1, even though I ordered before the cutoff and have had $500 not available from my bank account since that time, my order date shows 9/15 which is when I accepted the T&C, still hoping it goes by when I actually ordered.
 
Pre-order remains in Attention status, with "credit card verification needed." AT&T can't handle a shipping address different from my CC billing address, I suppose. Morons.
  • Called four times on Saturday, no one was ever able to assist. "System down."
  • Called early Sunday AM, hold music for 90 minutes, no one answered.
  • Called later on Sunday, got message that they were unavailable, call back.
  • Called first thing this AM, unavailable.
  • Called a short time ago, on hold now for 20 mins and counting, with this horrid hold music that I'm going to hear in my sleep for weeks.

Only asking b/c I had the same issue with my credit card even thou the addresses matched. I had two separate orders placed on two separate accts with the same exact info and it was rejecting my bank card.

I have literally been on the phone with them once Friday, Twice Saturday, Twice Sunday (one rep was finally able to manually enter my info for one order and process it), and once today (another manual entry) to finally take care of the 2nd order. Each time I called I waited no longer than a couple of minutes.

I find the representatives in the morning (EST) are much more helpful/knowledgable than those in the evening. Last night I called after my 1st order was processed and the 2nd was rejected again. The girl I spoke to first told me my card was expired after she ran it with a 2/15 expiration date. I told her that was not possible and she said oh well your zip code doesnt match. I tell her how is that possible when ATT used the same exact card to process an order earlier in the same day and I paid my phone bill with the same card?? She basically had no response and said she was getting help then transferred my call to some line where I was disconnected...Stellar service.
 
So how many here had their Premier order outright "Cancelled" for no apparent reason? I've been on hold so far for 25 minutes and nobody yet to tell me what the deal was. My order had said it would deliver 9/21, now it sounds like if I can re-order I won't get it for 3 weeks or so.

My credit card still shows a couple of $1.00 pre-authorizations on it, even though the status said cancelled on Saturday.
 
Here's my story..

Ordered through premier website @ 8:30 am EST. Got confirmation email a few mins later w/ the "as soon as 9/21" line. MY order status changed from processing to "Attention" after trying to get in touch with someone but had to give up because premier 800 # isnt open on weekends. I checked today and my status is back to "preorder processing" and gives me the option to cancel. I finally spoke with someone at premier after a 3 HOUR hold :mad: and they said my order is fine and should arrive on the 21st but couldnt guarantee a delivery date.

Also, i was told that if you order online through premier that you WILL NOT receive the T&Cs email to accept.

oh and i do have a pending charge on my card for the full amount. so we'll see what happens..
 
I cannot access the order status to check if it's backordered or not. The part that asks you to type in the security code from the image is just blank, I checked on multiple computers. Maybe we broke it??

Later got a text message confirming my order.

My credit card has a pending charge for the full amount (for the 64GB Black)

Hope we'll receive shipping confirmation in the next day or so . . .

Anyone else charged a $36 'upgrade fee'?
Soon as I get my phone I'm going to be calling them to have it removed.
They've had my business since 2002 so I don't think they need to charge me a useless 'fee' for buying a $400 phone from them.

i agree on the chill out part - but a large group of people (myself included) had 'delivers on 9/21' on their order status page when we placed the order. Maybe you didn't, but we did, and it's unfortunate that now ATT now says that was a mistake now. they need to get tighter on their control for a major launch.

that said, i've got a good feeling they are playing PR and we will be seeing a lot of them on friday.

I ordered over the phone as well later in the day on 9/14. I accepted the T&C right away, I still don't even see anything in my order status and I never even got an email after the T&C. At this point its just a waiting game.

The upgrade fee is standard by all providers. No matter who you go with they charge you an upgrade fee. It used to be only $18.00 but it was changed recently.
 
My order is slowly getting FUBARed! I talked to a Premeir Business sales Rep the day before the preorder and they said they would place an order for me the next day. I later talked to anothe Premeir Business sales person that suggested I place an order using the Premier service online early on the 14th to guarantee I would receive the phone on the 21st, so I placed my order thru the premier online store at 6:27 a.m. EST Friday morning. I recieved my confirmation email that all was good for 9/21 shipment and my card was charged the full amount. So at 8:00 a.m. I called the premier sales rep I had talked to earlier on thursday and let him know I placed the order online and to not place the other order he was going to submit for me. Well later around 11:45 am on Friday I receive a second confirmation email with a different order # and ship date of 9/21. The rep accidently placed the other order anyway. So I called him back and said to cancel that order and not to touch the order I placed online.

Late last night I recieved a 3rd confirmation email with another order # and a ship date of 14-21 days. I called my rep and they have placed another order for some reason, but don't know why. So I now have 3 64GB black iPhone 5 orders. I told the rep to "Not cancel" any of the orders, because he thinks if I have to cancel any order, they will keep the most recent order an cancel the first two. Well the first two had a ship date of 9/21 and I have been charge for the first order, which is the order I want to keep.

Fricking AT&T can't seem to get their Sh$& together!

With luck they won't cancel any of my orders and I will just return the other 2 that they accidently ordered. My luck, they will cancel all 3 orders and I will not get a phone until 2013 sometime.
 
Preordered at about 12:30PST. Received confirmation email at 2:30AM. Had a pending charge for the full amount. Received the "preorder has been processesd." text at about 2:00PM. The phone was listed as backordered all weekend. Now, the pending charge is gone and the phone is no longer backordered and is now marked ordered. I never received the postponed shipment email. One thing I noticed is that there are two spots to check your order status. Each presents slightly different information. I don't really have a question, just though I would post my experience in case anyone else is in the same boat.

I think you have the best news among us lol, most of us have not received the text, and still backordered, pretty sure you will receive yours on the 21st :)
 
I ordered a GSM White 32 iPhone 5, at 3:58 AM EST (12:58 AM PST), the day the pre order became live. And it's telling me mine will ship in two weeks, not on 9/21. ANyone else find this insane, or have the same problem?
