Last year, I ordered through AT&T as well for the 4S and it took AT&T over 2 MONTHS to actually charge my card. It sat in pending mode until it shipped, and then the cash sat in my account for 8 to 10 weeks before they took it out. I'm in pending mode again now, with no shipping status yet, so I'm eager to see what happens this time.

Well, I ordered through the website and somehow did not accept the Terms and Conditions, and AT&T has now told me that since I never received an email to accept it, the order has failed and I'll need to place another order.
 
Can someone shed some light as to whats going on with my order? I placed an order around 7:15 AM EST through the premier page on launch day (9/14). I got a confirmation email which gives me a link to check the status. On this status page, it still says "processing". When I log into my wireless.att.com account and click on MyOrders, it says that the order was placed on 9/15/2012 and is still processing. This is obviously untrue since I actually placed the order on the morning of 9/14/2012. My credit card bill also reflects a pending charge for the iPhone on 9/15/2012. I've gotten no additional email since the original one. What date can I expect my order to ship?

If my memory is correct, this happened to me and many others for the iPhone 4 launch. I still got my iPhone 4 on launch day if that makes you feel any better.

If you can dig up the "official" MacRumors AT&T iPhone 4 Pre-Order thread, you will find much of the same discussion. I'd like to think that in 2 years time that AT&T could get a better handle on things, but at the end of the day if your phone is in your hands on the 21st then you'll forget this week of waiting.
 
Nobody here can confirm delivery on 9/21. AT&T told me my phone would ship on Friday.

Every time the iPhone has been released, AT&T has always shipped preorders out a day or two before so that the phone arrives on the release date.

Now, AT&T, this year, could have decided to piss off everyone and ship it out on Friday, but if history is any indication, then I would say majority of us who preordered will receive the phone on Friday.

AT&T reps are given lines to say, they dont really know more than you. They're there to help the people who have no idea how to go and track their order. People already have their tracking numbers from the UPS reference site, and have it deliver thursday via UPS next day air saver
 
I'm guessing the reason there was no shipping date on the confirmation email is because there is no guaranteed date of release yet.

Anybody know the date they're most likely going to release it? I've heard a few dates but the most common is between October 21st thru 25th.

I'm confused about your question. Sept 21st is the iPhone5 release date.

To add a little to this, if you pre-ordered at a AT&T store and either decided to ship to home or to store you've accepted the Terms and Conditions when you signed with the e-pen after swiping your card.

PS: If you decided to ship to store and CAN'T track your phone online it's because the zip code may be wrong! I had the same problem I simply had to enter the store's zip code instead of my own followed by either the phone number, confirmation ID number or the order number.

I just spoke with a CSR at Premier. He said my order is secured and will ship on Friday... not to expect it Friday but a couple days later. That works for me :D I ordered on the 14th at 6:20 central time, white 16 gb.
 
I'm guessing they just haven't worked their way up the chain on this yet. Also, I think just shows that these models are less in demand so it betters our chances of getting it friday.

I'm pretty sure the folks at apple have gotten good at predicting the popularity of each model, so if there was one that was less popular they would have manufactured fewer.

So we're essentially getting penalized for ordering through a different (yet still AT&T's) website? When I initially logged in to att.com to order, I didn't intend on ordering through premier, it took me there by default. It seems pretty unfair to me.

I saw a few of you mentioned receiving it already. I ordered just after 6am eastern time on Friday morning on the regular AT&T site. I accepted the T&C online as part of the ordering process, so I never got that flag/email.

I wish I also got an order status page and confirmation of accepting these terms and conditions but I did not! Online rep pasted me my order copies said 9/14 and accepted. She also said that I'll be getting delivery 9/21 and I ordered at 8 pm. I highly doubt that though, but nice to wish.
 
I was in a very similar situation, I ordered at 2:51am EST (the site opened up early for me). I got the initial order confirmation email right away saying my phone would be delivered 9/21, but never got a Terms and Conditions email. My order status has been "Processing" all this time.

I got concerned about the TnC and called AT&T two days ago. They said they would look into getting the TnC accepted for my order and would send me an email so I could accept it. I never got an email.

Today, I got a call from AT&T regarding the terms and conditions. They said the TnC had never been accepted, and my preorder "failed." They're now going to have to reorder the phone and my shipping time is 2-3 weeks.

My credit card has the pending charge from AT&T, so I don't understand how the TnC caused my whole order to "fail" despite everything else being fine.

Unreal.

My second email just said:
Tracking Number: Pending Shipment

We have processed your order and it has been sent to our warehouse for shipment.

Your order cannot be changed or canceled at this time.


I never received a "Terms & Conditions" email. But, I did log on to AT&T earlier in the day and changed my family plan to Mobile Share ahead of time.

The "Terms & Conditions" email everyone is referring to, is that regarding Mobile Share signup/the new data plans?
 
AT&T iPhone Pre-Order Issue

I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 16GB from AT&T at 6:45 AM Eastern Time last Friday from AT&T's website. I would've pre-ordered at 3 AM but kept getting a login failure so at 4 AM I went back to bed and ordered when I woke up. When I ordered the ship time showed it would arrive on 9/21 before I ordered and then once my order was complete I received my order number and the order form showed I would receive my iPhone on 9/21.

I thought all was good and well which made me happy since I sold my iPhone 4 through eBay Instant Sale for $235 and had until October 1st to ship it and still receive that quote.

Then things went really bad when I decided to check with AT&T today to see where the status of my order stood so I called in to customer service.

Upon calling in the representative on the phone informed me that I placed my order on 9/15 and I my phone would not ship until Oct. 4 - 15 and then would have to allow 14 - 21 days for my phone to arrive after it was shipped. Obviously this news upset me but I stayed calm and told the person on the phone that I placed my order at 6:45 AM on 9/14 and that the order complete screen showed me I would receive it on 9/21. She then told me this was not the case and stated how I would receive it next month. I asked to speak to a manager so she patched me through. The manager informed me that she saw I did place my order at 6:45 AM on 9/14 but I the reason for the change in the ship date was because I did not respond to a confirmation email from AT&T that I wanted to renew my 2 year contract until 2 PM EDT this past Friday. I then told her I never received such an e-mail from AT&T so there was no way I responded as she said I had and also informed her I never received a confirmation email of my order. She proceeded to tell me that this issue has happened to multiple people who ordered Friday morning where they didn't receive this "confirm your 2 year agreement" email and thus they ship time slipped from the first day (9/21) to next month and that there was nothing she could do regarding this error on AT&T's side.

This has me really frustrated and was wondering if anyone else had this issue? If so have you found out how to resolve this as this is not a customer's error but AT&T's? Also not sure what to do about shipping my iPhone 4 that I sold, I guess I could ship it and activate my roommates old iPhone 3GS and just wait on the new one.

Side note: received a text from AT&T at 3:42 PM EDT on 9/14 saying: "Congratulations! Your preorder has been processed. You will be notified when your order has shipped."

TL;DR AT&T pushed my ship date back due to a 2 year contract agreement email error. :mad:

credit check caused order delay

I ordered within an hour of launch, but never received a confirmation email (though I could check order status online, and it said "Processing"). I called today, and was told my order was held up pending their credit verification process. They asked me 4 questions (mortgage amt, lender, car loan amt, lender). After this, they said my order was approved and the order would now go to automated processing. The CSR told me this likely meant I would not have mine shipped in the first batch. Why didn't they tell me more information was needed?? Why didn't the order status say anything about me needing to call?? Ugh.

It really looks like the ball was dropped on my order, and now I'll be at the back of the line, despite me ordering correctly as soon as it launched. :(

Very disappointed. :mad:

I agree, but now everyone will start arguing with you that you are wrong and they have been charged lol.

I showed an Apple iTunes charge of $1 on Friday. That switched to a $215 pending transaction from AT&T on Saturday night (and my available balance was my previous balance minus the $215). Then the pending disappeared last night and my bank shows my original full balance.

Also, my cancel button has disappeared from my info page but I'm not surprised. An AT&T rep told me last night that I couldn't cancel the order at this point anyway and that if I went to the Apple Store/AT&T store on Friday I'd have to pay the full price of the phone.

I don't think I order from premier, the guy just took my name and model I want. So I called this number I don't believe its for premier customers 1-866-288-7629 that where I placed my order from maybe I will get my phone Friday.
