Long time lurker. Every year when this time comes all of you crazy morons babble on for pages. While it makes me laugh, it pisses me off because you people are dumb enough to believe the same thing every year, that you somehow won't get your phone on time. Most of you will get your phones on time. CHILL THE **** OUT.
I order mine launch day everytime, and everytime it shows up with no problems, despite what my order says, what date it gives..etc.
Do yourselves a favor and stop ranting you all sound like idiots.
Just shut up.

I'm just as impatient as everyone else in this thread, but I agree we need to calm down a little bit. It would suck if it doesn't come on launch day, but in the end we should be happy to be able to afford a luxury like this.
On a side note, my 16GB white ordered just moved to backordered=0 so I'm a happy child now :) I ordered through premier phone @9:45am EST, received confirmation around 10pm that night, and the CSS at around 8am this morning.

I went to the other MacRumor "Pre-Order" forums to see what those knuckle heads were saying. They are all nuts over there as well. :D

Btw, I felt like I was spying or something. Weird...

Amber: Hello, thank you for chatting with AT&T today. I see that you have a question regarding the status of a shipment. Is that correct?
Taylor: Yes. I want to know the shipping date of my order
Amber: Orders placed before 9am Pacific on 9/14/12 will ship by 9/21/12. Orders placed after this time will ship in 14-21 business days.
Taylor: What if mine was placed in a store at 10:04am EST?
Amber: Then it should still be with in that deadline.
Taylor: Funny, the last rep I talked with told me that she found information that my order was shipping between 10/5-10/14
Amber: I can look for you if you would like. I am just going off of the information I have based on what you are telling me. It may say something else in our system.
Taylor: Ok. If you could look for it, that would be great.
Amber: Okay no problem.
Amber: In order to protect your privacy, may I please have the First Name, Last Name, and the last four digits of the Social Security Number associated with this account?

Amber: Okay unfortunately the order site is saying that you will have to wait for the 14-21 days. I am sorry.
Amber: You will receive an email with the tracking details though that may differ in the information.
Amber: I am really sorry about that.
Taylor: Is there any way I can expedite the shipping??
Amber: Unfortunately because this is an item that is not released yet and backordered you would be unable to do it as of right now.
Amber: I apologize for the inconvenience.
Taylor: But why do I have to wait 14-21 days if I was in that time frame?
Amber: Honestly that is why I am saying you may want to just go ahead and wait for that email with the tracking information, because that goes by the carrier and may be completely different.
Amber: Because I do see what you are talking about with the time frame.
Taylor: AT&T screwed up a lot of people in these last few days
Taylor: No one has had a status showing they shipped. A few people are showing up on UPS' site but it seems like that is the vast minority.
Amber: Unfortunately on my end, theres nothing I can do. I am very sorry.
Amber: That is because they did not ship yet.
Taylor: Then why would they be showing up on the UPS site?
Amber: It would depend on the carrier. I do not know who would be delivering it until it ships. I am sorry again.
Taylor: I'm joining the boat saying that the reps know nothing. I just got off the phone with premier support and the guy said that "if you didn't order before the 13th your phone won't ship until October 24th". After we determined that yes, his system was indeed smoking crack, he said that if you ordered the first day in your state(???) it'll ship the 21st. I give up. (And I know, relax, etc. But going nuts is half the fun of preorder/launch events!)
Amber: I am sorry that is happening to you.
Taylor: The reps don't really know what they are talking about...some say shipping on 9/21 some say delivered on 9/21.
Amber: I completely understand.
Taylor: This is what I really think. Are you ready?
Amber: I really hope that you are able to get this taken care of and I am very sorry you are having such a hard time.
Taylor: The people you talk to via the chat or the general support numbers DON'T KNOW ANYTHING. Since a million people are calling in asking the same questions, the reps were fed generic information. Think about it. Why would AT&T's strategy be to have the phones SHIP the day everyone else RECEIVES them? If they did that none of the early adopters would order through them. My guess is the reps where told to say "The 21st!" and have made the uninformed assumption that means shipping. AT&T has been apart of EVERY iPhone launch and EVERY time they have delivered phones on the launch date. (I realize they didn't have pre-orders for the original iPhone, but you get what I'm saying). If you are within the original allotment of iPhone 5's, you will get your phone on Friday. The rumor is that the cutoff was sometime around 12pm EST to be in that original allotment. I would take this with a massive grain of salt because I don't think AT&T has as good of a handle on its inventory as Apple does and it would also depend on the size and color you ordered. And NO ONE at AT&T, that you can call, knows either. All they are doing is looking at what time someone ordered and using that as a basis of when it will ship. Their systems say just as much as anything we can check online. Sit back and relax. If you ordered early enough you will get your phone on Friday.
Amber: I am very sorry you are having a bad experience with this.
Amber: There is a lot going on and I imagine it can cause confusion.
Amber: I really do apologize that I could not be of further assistance to you.
Taylor: But why doesn't AT&T have a better handle on their orderss?
Taylor: When you contact customer service, you want to find out MORE than what you know
Taylor: All of you work completely backwards
Amber: I am sorry I really do not have an answer for you.
Taylor: So what is the point of AT&T paying all of you if you have the same info as us......

I personally think this was rude to act that way toward a person doing their job the best they can do. Being nice can get people more willing to help any way they can if there is a way. I know you are frustrated, but it is just a phone.

Why do people call or chat with any CS rep? People please.....they just don't know.

Take it easy on them....they aren't given the info from AT&T.

No kidding. My order was "accidentally canceled" by AT&T. Was on the phone for a couple hours between them and Apple to see if anything could be done. I ordered 10 minutes after launch and now have to wait til sometime in October. I was able to at least get $100 credited to my account for the problems.

The way I think about it, come sometime October when I have my new iPhone in my pocket I will be happy and won't care too much about the wait, especially with $100 more in my wallet.

Ordered a little before 8:00 a.m. EST on 9/14/12 and both iphones are still showing backordered and credit card hasn't been formerly charged (just pending charge of full amount). This is through AT&T Premier.

I pre-ordered my iPhone from the AT&T website on the 14th at about 3:30am est. I opened up an account that night to order the iPhone ( originally a Tmobile member) I would like to know if they ship thru FedEx or ups? Does anyone have any idea where I can get some information? I have checked in ups and FedEx and still no info. I am still under Tmobile but I use my cell number to check is there anything else I can use?

Preordered at about 12:30PST. Received confirmation email at 2:30AM. Had a pending charge for the full amount. Received the "preorder has been processesd." text at about 2:00PM. The phone was listed as backordered all weekend. Now, the pending charge is gone and the phone is no longer backordered and is now marked ordered. I never received the postponed shipment email. One thing I noticed is that there are two spots to check your order status. Each presents slightly different information. I don't really have a question, just though I would post my experience in case anyone else is in the same boat.

https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/order_status

www.att.com/wirelessorderstatus

Interesting!

The first Link shows "InProgress" Qty Ordered: 1 and nothing back ordered and Pending shipment.

But the second link is the link you receive in your confirmation email after order and it sows right now "In Progress" and nothing anywhere else!

Well this made me feel a little better seeing in Progress and "0" under the backordered section.

I already sold my iPhone 4S 64gb and promised the buyer I would hsip out Monday so I am counting on AT&T to not screw me over ... my order was placed at 1:28 AM PST.

Fingers crossed and I will be watching the status using this first link instead of the original.

Thanks for the links. :)

Need to quit worrying about what you see in your bank account. No ones orders have shipped yet that ordered through AT&T. Information gets sent to UPS or FedEx before they are actually picked up for shipping. Anyone who has dealt with tracking before knows this.

In the bottom of your confirmation email it says:

***Charges include estimated taxes. Charges will be processed on date of shipping and will include actual, applicable taxes, fees and surcharges, which may vary from the quoted estimate.

So everything will be pending until it actually ships. Go watch some TV and drink a beer, your phones will get to you on time.

So i preordered on 9/14 at 4 AM pacific and I've only received one email from AT&T. It was telling me they received my order and such. I've also been charged the full amount for the 32gb. The thing is I never received any confirmation email. Should I be worried? When I click "status of your order" on the email it says "Preorder processing" and the cancel button is back. Is there a way to chat online with AT&T about it or should I not worry?

You're certainly welcome to worry, but don't chat with ATT. What purpose will it serve? Either you'll get tracking information later this week and receive your phone on Friday, or you'll be delayed until October. The reps don't appear to have any ability to move you forward in the shipping queue, and you'll know in the next 72 hours or so whether you're part of the first round of shipments. The person you chat with can't affect your place in line, and it seems likely that the chat reps don't have very much concrete information about the ordering process anyway.

Well that was pretty rude and pointless...

No, he said that there is no exact cutoff, just an estimate. Orders were coming in so fast that theoretically, if 1000 orders all happened at 9:30est and the cutoff happened between those 1000 orders, how could they provide 9:30 or 9:31 as a cutoff? It made sense.

This is the number I called 888-333-6651. Wait the hour on hold and don't be a jerk. I specificaly said, "I need your help because I'm pretty confused based on the information at&t is providing me. Can you use my order number specifically to tell me the status of my order?"

He was able to tell me that the package was being assembled and it's going to be ready within 2-3 days for shipment by Friday. So, clearly, they have a mechanism to look up specific orders and locate them.

I tried this number. I waited on hold for 45 minutes and found out you were lucky to get someone to not script you the, "Your order shows processed, once it is shipped you will receive a new email with shipping information."

I asked, "is it supposed to ship by 9/21?" They scripted, "We believe all orders will be shipped within 14-21 days!" I then asked, "my phone order confirmation states 9/21, does that mean it should ship earlier than 14 day?" They scripted, "We believe all orders will be shipped within 14-21 days!" So, even the CSR's answering this customer service number are now scripting that they have no clue when orders are really getting shipped.

P.S., All phone correspondences with AT&T CSR's, up until this call have been American's. This CSR appeared to be Chinese.

I was able to order my 16BG white iPhone 5 BEFORE 12am PST through the At&T website. I had the countdown screen up, glanced over at 2:48am EST and the login screen was up. I logged in and placed my order quickly and easily. I immediately received two confirmation emails at 2:52am & 2:54am EST.

The first email included a 12-digit order number, beginning with 1711.
The email said:
Your order was placed: 01:52 AM CDT September 14, 2012

Great news – your new iPhone will ship soon!
What happens next:
  • Your order will arrive on 9/21/12
  • We’ll send a confirmation email when it’s ready
  • You can check your order status online anytime
  • You can check your order status online anytime

When I check my order status, it says "processing."

I haven't come across anyone who was able to order before 12am PST. I'd hope that because I was able to order so early and my confirmation email read "Your order will arrive on 9/21/12" that it will, but my debit card has not been charged or even pre-authorized (my husband works at our bank).

I placed my order at 01:59am CST. There were no options to get in before 1:55am, so you must have been extremely lucky.

Taylor: When you contact customer service, you want to find out MORE than what you know
Taylor: All of you work completely backwards
Amber: I am sorry I really do not have an answer for you.
Taylor: So what is the point of AT&T paying all of you if you have the same info as us......
Amber: I do not know.
Taylor: Hahahahahaha
Amber: I am sorry your frustrated.
Taylor: *you're
Taylor: Bye

Grow up, kinda obvious you just wanted some attention but what you did is completely pointless.

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with 'Amber'

Taylor: ****
Taylor: ****
Taylor: ****

You do not deserve an iPhone on Friday. Or any other day for that matter.

Well, I just chatted with Premier support. It's not looking good for me.

AT&T: Thank you for contacting National Business Services. My name is Summer. Before we begin, can you please confirm that the wireless number that we are working with is ----------?
Me: That's correct.
AT&T: I understand you are inquiring about your order status, is that correct?
Me: Correct
AT&T: I can definitely look into this for you.
Me: The order number through the Premier Store is -------------------------
Me: I just want to make sure that the order was placed properly and will ship out on time
AT&T: I do show your order placed on 09/15/2012 and has an estimated delivery date of 14 To 21 business days.
Me: I actually placed the order on 9/14/2012 and my confirmation email states that I would receive it as soon as 9/21/2012
Me: I'm not sure why you're seeing a 9/15 order date
AT&T: I show the order placed in Premier and has a date of 09/15/2012 for your contract acceptance.
Me: Very strange. I'm looking at the email now and it is dated 5:07am on 09/14/2012. I'm guessing the system pushed me back due to the high demand.
AT&T: Most likely, our orders on Premier were overwhelming.

Me: Okay, so other than that delay, you are showing no problems with that order?
AT&T: I show the order as being processed and awaiting shipping. Looks good to me!
Me: Okay, thanks so much for your help.
AT&T: Are they any additional questions for me today?
Me: No that's all. Thanks again!
AT&T: Thank you for contacting AT&T. If you need additional assistance please contact us again or you can call us at 1-800-331-0500. We welcome your feedback: please click here to complete our Customer Satisfaction Survey. Thank you for your business and have a pleasant day.

I'm sure this has been addressed a million times but I'm not going to read 67 pages lol - hopefully someone can give me an idea of what is going on with shipping. I purchased the iPhone 5 32gb white on 9/14 at 11:45am (Arizona). If I log in through the email sent from Premier it states my order date was 9/14 yet when I log into AT&T's site it says I didn't purchase it until today. Is this happening a lot? Thanks :)
