FYI

I ordered mine trough AT&T at 12pst, I received a email at 12:02 "Your Confirmation for AT&T Order ##" this email says "Your iPhone 5 will be delivered on 9/21/12"

Then at 12:03 "Your att.com order ### has been processed" this just says that its processing and I can not cancell or change it. And of course "congratulations"

Checked my cc charges and I have two from att on that day, one for $1 and the 2nd for $218.19 (AZ taxes), both still "processing".

I don't see anything on ups or fedex using my phone number, order number or att account number.

Your experience is the same as mine (except I only have one pending charge for the full amount of my iPhone + taxes on my CC. Probably different banks/CC companies communicate the transactions differently).

I think that this is how you want things to be right now. Next step will be a status change from "In Progress" to "Shipped".
 
Like the rest of everyone here, I'm a little crazy too (and read through all 65 and counting pages). Here's my story:

Woke up at 1:50am central time on 9/14 to be ready for the 2am start of the preorder. Apple Store was down even after 2am, but I was able to access the preorder immediately through the Apple Store iOS app (same way I ordered my iPhone 4). Got to the section where it asked you to pick a texting plan and realized I couldn't continue. I'm grandfathered into AT&T's unlimited data as well as the $5 for 200 text messages a month. Didn't want to risk losing that so the Apple Store app route was a no go. I was able to eventually get into the Apple Store website but had the same issue with the texting plan. So it was back to the AT&T site (which I had gotten into right at 2am). I plugged in all my data and the order went through.

At 2:38am received the confirmation email with the line "Your iPhone 5 will be delivered on 9/21/12." Thought I was good to go but received an email on 9/14 at 4:47pm saying that they were unable to verify availability of funds on the card I provided. I was away from my computer until Sunday morning (when I actually saw the email) and called the 866 number on the email. Immediately spoke with a rep who said that the billing address didn't match the CC number. I gave him a different CC number and was told that it would be processed within 24-48 hours. He did clarify for me that the phone would still be delivered on 9/21/2012.

Yesterday on 9/16 at 9:06am, I received an email saying, "We have processed your order and it has been sent to our warehouse for shipment. Your order cannot be changed or canceled at this time." A few hours later I got a text message saying "Congratulations! Your preorder had been processed. You will be notified when your order has shipped."

I've attached my current order statuses. Hoping, like many of you AND as AT&T reps have stated, that the CC verification issue problem will go by my original order date (9/14) and not when the issue was resolved (9/16).

What's the difference in these two AT&T order status sites

Maybe someone with knowledge of AT&T can tell me.....what's the difference in these two sites:

I finished my order at 2:57am EST. I immediately received confirmation emails including the one that says:

Great news – your new iPhone will ship soon! What happens next:
Your order will arrive on 9/21/12
We’ll send a confirmation email when it’s ready
You can check your order status online anytime

Now when I check my status at: http://www.att.com/wirelessorderstatus I get: Processing
When I check at: https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/order_status I get: In Progress/Pending Shipment

It was (2) 16GB Black models. I was upgrading from my Account....(not FAN or Premier).

I can't find my order on UPS at all.

Personally I remember going through all this with the iPhone4 and everything was delivered fine.

Does anyone here know whether the shipments will require a signature? I don't mind if it doesn't come on Friday but since I couldn't use my work address, I have to plan ahead of time to work from home. ATT had told me they would ship Fedex overnight but since some people on here have UPS info, obviously that is wrong. I just don't want it left outside my house if it gets delivered on another day.

Look at the definitions of "In Progress" and "Processing". They are the same.

But think what you want.

Yeah im starting to think that too. I cant tell if premier customers aren't receiving this email because they're premier or because the stock was already depleted by the time premier got back up.

I'm leaving Premier once I get my phone and going to switch to personal. That way I might be able to pre-order the next iPhone through Apple.
 
What time did you order? I did 4:40 pm est, I'm trying to figure out if anyone who ordered late has back-ordered or it is just random who has 1 vs. 0. It seems AT&T knows nothing, so I'm trying to figure it out.

3:10 pm est and i have backordered

and i actually ordered 2 separately and i got a confirmation email for one, but not the other.

I think there is a difference since one just says Processing, while the other tells me it is In Progress, but also tells me that it is Backordered... even though I preordered mine well before the 9am PST cutoff time

If I remember correctly from last year they all say backordered until they actually ship since AT&T doesn't actually have these in stock when we ordered.

out of the 3 premier preorders i did for the iphone, 2 received only a "thank you for ordering" and then a "your phone has been shipped" email while one received a "thank you for ordering." and then a "update email" saying that the phone is still scheduled to be delivered blah blah. THEN when it shipped, i received a "your phone just shipped email." So one out of three received more than three emails.

damn. lots of redundancy haha.

The chat people read off a script. If you ordered before 12pm est you will receive it the 21st.

I ordered throught ATT premier.

Btw cancel preorder link is back on ATT premier status update.

yeah lol the funny thing too is I can't check my order status on premier lol I can't even see any Apple products in the premier store. I have to check my order status on this site
