Amber: Honestly that is why I am saying you may want to just go ahead and wait for that email with the tracking information, because that goes by the carrier and may be completely different.

Taylor: AT&T screwed up a lot of people in these last few days
Taylor: No one has had a status showing they shipped. A few people are showing up on UPS' site but it seems like that is the vast minority.
Amber: Unfortunately on my end, theres nothing I can do. I am very sorry.
Amber: That is because they did not ship yet.
Taylor: Then why would they be showing up on the UPS site?
Amber: It would depend on the carrier. I do not know who would be delivering it until it ships. I am sorry again.
Taylor: I'm joining the boat saying that the reps know nothing. I just got off the phone with premier support and the guy said that "if you didn't order before the 13th your phone won't ship until October 24th". After we determined that yes, his system was indeed smoking crack, he said that if you ordered the first day in your state(???) it'll ship the 21st. I give up. (And I know, relax, etc. But going nuts is half the fun of preorder/launch events!)

Taylor: The people you talk to via the chat or the general support numbers DON'T KNOW ANYTHING. Since a million people are calling in asking the same questions, the reps were fed generic information. Think about it. Why would AT&T's strategy be to have the phones SHIP the day everyone else RECEIVES them? If they did that none of the early adopters would order through them. My guess is the reps where told to say "The 21st!" and have made the uninformed assumption that means shipping. AT&T has been apart of EVERY iPhone launch and EVERY time they have delivered phones on the launch date. (I realize they didn't have pre-orders for the original iPhone, but you get what I'm saying). If you are within the original allotment of iPhone 5's, you will get your phone on Friday. The rumor is that the cutoff was sometime around 12pm EST to be in that original allotment. I would take this with a massive grain of salt because I don't think AT&T has as good of a handle on its inventory as Apple does and it would also depend on the size and color you ordered. And NO ONE at AT&T, that you can call, knows either. All they are doing is looking at what time someone ordered and using that as a basis of when it will ship. Their systems say just as much as anything we can check online. Sit back and relax. If you ordered early enough you will get your phone on Friday.

shut the **** up dude, its just a phone, why are you in hurry, it is still monday, if they say itll arrive on friday, just relax and wait for it, they still have plenty of time to ship for it since all att iphone are in US
 
No kidding. I had to call AT&T on a non iPhone related matter today. I think the CSR was genuinely relieved that it wasn't somebody berating them about the status of their order and if they were getting their precious toy on Friday.

Kids have more patience at Christmas than grown adults buying a phone.

If that was true, I wouldn't be able to sleep until Friday. ;)
 
I submitted my order thru AT&T website on Friday at 12:30 pacific time, and for some reason AT&T have charged my credit card 3 times and they canceled my order, and they updated it with another one on the 17th, so i had to call them today, and they said that they don't know, I asked they rep to transfer me to her supervisor which is told me that my order was pushed pack because they couldn't charged my credit card, and I told her that my credit card was charged one time on Friday and 2 times today, she said she sees that the first order was placed on Friday is canceled, and she only can see that the one on the 17th was processed, and I asked her is there any chance that I can get my phone by the 21th, she said I have to wait 2 to 3 weeks, then I asked her to cancel everything, I'm just going to take the chance to go to best buy, Walmart or AT&T and wait on line this Friday, and hopefully I get one.

I just wanted to share my story, I just never had a good luck with AT&T

Well my account doesn't say backordered... anywhere. Does this mean I MAY get mine on the 21st? It is still "preorder processing"

Totally agree with you. Dude is freaking out on Monday because he's not going to get his iPhone 5 on the release day when 8 million other people ordered the damn phone. I ordered too, it gets to my house when it gets to my house. Until then, I have an iPhone 4 which I have been using the past 2 years.

If dude can't survive 2 weeks after the 21st without his iPhone 5, then the human gene pool is probably better off anyways.

Just being real.

I'm wondering if anyone who had CC issues and got the "attention" status was able to resolve their issue yet? I have been trying to fix this since Saturday with no luck. I checked my order status on Saturday and it said they could not verify my CC so I called in and verified all the necessary info and the woman claimed everything was fine with my CC but that there was an issue with my unlimited data plan and that someone from another department would be calling me back on Monday. Then on Saturday night I received 3 identical emails about 15 min apart saying to call in regarding my order. I tried 4 times and couldn't even get through so I gave up for the day. I tried going to a store for help yesterday but they said they can't verify CC details for an online order. Now today I have not received a call from anyone like the first woman on Friday told me I would. I called the number on the email this morning and after 80 min on hold I got through to another woman who told me I had reached the wrong department to help me with CC issues and that she would have to transfer me. I had run out of time so I told her to have someone call me back at 3 but I have not gotten a call back. I'm on hold now again (for 40 min so far).... I'm hoping someone can tell me they've had success because I'm losing all hope at this point. :(

I'm in the same situation as you. Ordered at 6AM central on Friday. Saturday, my order status showed "Attention" with CC verify needed. Called four times Saturday, long hold times. Eventually got through, but system was down.

Called yesterday (Sunday) AM, waited on hold for 90mins, no one ever answered. Called in the afternoon, got a message that no one was available.

Made some noise and complaints on Twitter (@attcustomercare) and got a call this AM from one of their social media specialists. Very nice, I explained the problem with her. She's been trying to get in touch with Premier to see what's going on -- but I've talked to her twice more today and she still doesn't have any answers from them.

So if an ATT employee can't get a straight answer (or any answer at all!) from Premier, what hope do us customers have? I told the social media rep that I needed to know if my order would still be in the first shipment, or if I lost my place in the queue. She is supposedly checking on it, but I have very little faith of getting it on the 21st.

I assume this is all the result of my changing my ATT billing address to be my work address, so I could receive the phone there. But I entered my CC billing address correctly; and I did this same thing for the 4 and 4S launches, without difficulty. However, I ordered those two from APPLE, not ATT, and I'm a fool for not doing that this time as well.
 
Why are so many of you constantly harassing AT&T employees? It's obvious they don't know anything more then we do. Just leave them alone and let them help the normal customers.
 
Stopped into the local AT&T tonight so the wife could pre-order her iPhone 5 (finally decided to jump). Out of curiosity, I asked the rep about the pre-order shipping estimates, and told him I pre-ordered mine at 7:50am CST online through the AT&T Premier shenanigans that I had to order through. He said that anybody who ordered AFTER roughly 9:45am-10:00am CST from AT&T would be getting their iPhone after the 21st. He also mentioned that he vividly remembered placing an order for a customer around 9:30am and it still said that the arrival was for the 21st.

Just wanted to get this out there to hopefully ease a few minds.
