Stopped into the local AT&T tonight so the wife could pre-order her iPhone 5 (finally decided to jump). Out of curiosity, I asked the rep about the pre-order shipping estimates, and told him I pre-ordered mine at 7:50am CST online through the AT&T Premier shenanigans that I had to order through. He said that anybody who ordered AFTER roughly 9:45am-10:00am CST from AT&T would be getting their iPhone after the 21st. He also mentioned that he vividly remembered placing an order for a customer around 9:30am and it still said that the arrival was for the 21st.

Just wanted to get this out there to hopefully ease a few minds.

Also ordered 16GB Black, around 530 am pacific 9/14.
My order said it went through on the 15th though, I don't understand...
 
Who has an actual Charge on their credit/debit card and not just a processing/pending charge? Does anybody?
 
I wish when they did these preorders they would give people a batch/group/section number indicating what spot in line they are in and possibly when they would get their phone instead of just leaving it up to a vague range of 14-21 days. Like I ordered my 5 on saturday and I still haven't gotten a confirmation email nor has it shown up on the order status page. Just frustrating to know that they could easily do such a thing but they never will.
 
I ordered my iphone 5 from the premier site on the 14th at approx 3:53 a.m. pacific got a confirmation email about 3 minutes later that stated I will be receiving it on the 21st and thanking me for my order. that morning there was a pending charge for the price of the phone in my bank account.....sunday night the charger fell off.....i am still showing 1 under back order for my 32gb black phone....anyone else with this same experience?
 
mine still is back ordered, my wifes is gone to 0. ordered two min apart friday

I personally think this was rude to act that way toward a person doing their job the best they can do. Being nice can get people more willing to help any way they can if there is a way. I know you are frustrated, but it is just a phone.

i also agree. come on, people be nice. they only do what they are told to do and we can't do much about it if they don't have all the information we wanna know. and hey, it's only monday. the phones will arrive on friday. as i remember in my previous preorders, they ship the phone 2 days prior (apple.com). not sure about att.com, but i'm sure they will ship the phone before friday. it's just a phone, not the end of the world... though 12/12/2012 is near... :D

Taylor: AT&T screwed up a lot of people in these last few days
Taylor: No one has had a status showing they shipped. A few people are showing up on UPS' site but it seems like that is the vast minority.
Amber: Unfortunately on my end, theres nothing I can do. I am very sorry.
Amber: That is because they did not ship yet.
Taylor: Then why would they be showing up on the UPS site?
Amber: It would depend on the carrier. I do not know who would be delivering it until it ships. I am sorry again.
Taylor: I'm joining the boat saying that the reps know nothing. I just got off the phone with premier support and the guy said that "if you didn't order before the 13th your phone won't ship until October 24th". After we determined that yes, his system was indeed smoking crack, he said that if you ordered the first day in your state(???) it'll ship the 21st. I give up. (And I know, relax, etc. But going nuts is half the fun of preorder/launch events!)

Taylor: The reps don't really know what they are talking about...some say shipping on 9/21 some say delivered on 9/21.
Amber: I completely understand.
Taylor: This is what I really think. Are you ready?
Amber: I really hope that you are able to get this taken care of and I am very sorry you are having such a hard time.
Taylor: The people you talk to via the chat or the general support numbers DON'T KNOW ANYTHING. Since a million people are calling in asking the same questions, the reps were fed generic information. Think about it. Why would AT&T's strategy be to have the phones SHIP the day everyone else RECEIVES them? If they did that none of the early adopters would order through them. My guess is the reps where told to say "The 21st!" and have made the uninformed assumption that means shipping. AT&T has been apart of EVERY iPhone launch and EVERY time they have delivered phones on the launch date. (I realize they didn't have pre-orders for the original iPhone, but you get what I'm saying). If you are within the original allotment of iPhone 5's, you will get your phone on Friday. The rumor is that the cutoff was sometime around 12pm EST to be in that original allotment. I would take this with a massive grain of salt because I don't think AT&T has as good of a handle on its inventory as Apple does and it would also depend on the size and color you ordered. And NO ONE at AT&T, that you can call, knows either. All they are doing is looking at what time someone ordered and using that as a basis of when it will ship. Their systems say just as much as anything we can check online. Sit back and relax. If you ordered early enough you will get your phone on Friday.

They have your name, phone number and order number....I'd be afraid they would 'accidentally' make things worse for you and make you wait even longer. I'm staying away from the CSRs....we all know they are reading from scripts. They are telling everyone 14-21 days .... it's called CYA

I do! I verified with my bank. It is currently on hold. So I asked is it a hold that will fall off and she said no, the funds are already gone.
BUT I didn't order until 4:34pm est on 9/14. AND it was routed through premier, which means it didn't show up as an actual order until 9/16. I'm just a little worried they took my money and charge me again when it actually ships in 14-21 days.
I ordered a white 16gb. I was on the AT&T site; don't even know what premier is! Oh well.

Everybody running around like chickens with their heads cut off and tons of mis-information. You can't put a price on entertainment like this ;)
 
What order status "link" are you guys using that shows Backorder status? I ordered thru Business Premier and the link in my confirmation email just shows that I ordered on 9/14 with ship date by 9/21 and the Status is shown as processing. The link also states that it is a preorder for a 64GB Black iphone 5 along with the device price plus tax and activation fee and data plan price. My credit card has a pending amount for the full amount of the order and my upgrade status is now shown as "no upgrade available, order a device a full price." I order before 6:30 am est.

I know my device is properly ordered and processing and I believe it will be coming sometime around 9/21, but I don't have anywhere that shows a backorder status.

Are you guys using a non business account or are these the small business accounts?
 
Almost identical situation to you... White 64GB ordered Premier at 6:30 PDT and I just flipped to 0 backordered.

Me too. White 64gb ordered Premier at 7:15 am est and just got flipped to 0 on back order. But 2 weird things-never got charged, still not charged on my CC and I have a different order number in the back order system than the one I got in original email which is no longer valid.

My phone is in nashville still

Ordered a 16gb AT&T white iPhone and it is still in Nashville with no movement. Anyone else in this spot?

I ordered mine just before 6am EST and all of mine say the 14th too.
