I just talked to AT&T. The story I was given is that my eligibility was pushed back due to the automatic change AT&T provided to anyone with an unlimited text plan. This change allowed for unlimited mobile to mobile calling.

This isn't something I asked for. I never come close to using my 450 minutes. The CS rep said that it wasn't possible to move the eligibility date up.

Rep is incorrect. I have family unlimited messaging plan and recently they added the mobile to mobile feature to my account too. Didn't change my eligibility

I call BS. I never had that feature added and my date hasn't changed. I wish AT&T would stop the BS. Either do it for everyone or do it for NO ONE.

UPDATE: The best they will do for me is move my date from 11/25 to 10/25. Its better than nothing.

You guys need to chill. It's just a month. It's not like there are any cool new features, just speed. Funny thing is, for all you that need Siri, did you not already have it on your phone? If not, then you must really want/need it. I did, but deleted it, so cant really justify buying a new phone whose foundation is an app I deleted.

Besides, the mere act of downloading a new firmware speeds up your phone. Plus you have a bunch of new iOS features to play around with. Plus you won't have to deal with refreshing the friggin screen and all the other hassle that comes with pre-ordering. You'll be able to just walk into a store on your upgrade date and walk out with one.

Who knows if the phone will still be sold out in a month though? Nobody really knows how crazy people will go over it. I'd rather not risk it and possibly have to wait 2-3 months to get one.

Plus there's a thrill behind the whole preorder process, waiting a week, tracking package, receiving or picking up a new product on day one.

My date is 11-13. Even though AT&T lets you upgrade a month early and I /could/ go wait in line next Friday, I have to go to school. So it's highly aggravating they won't do something so that I can order tonight instead of being stuck hunting one for the next month because of low stock levels.

Called customer support just to see if anything could be done, got a really nice lady. She confirmed the "30-day window" but had no personal power to adjust it to reflect that online. She basically told me to call back on October 25th (or I could probably just go to a store) and I'll be able to upgrade then. Something is much better than nothing. (not that I'm entitled to an early upgrade)

So my upgrade date it Nov 16th. I called and got something I havnt seen reported here.

We can move your date up if it's any phone BUT an iphone. i.e. i could get a samsung or wahtever...but not an iphone

I spoke with a CSA that reported they are "fixing iPhone eligibility currently." That is why some folks eligibility is going from Nov-Feb to eligible. He said most likely I'll be eligible after 3am EST when the launch happens.

So this may be good news for everyone, they may be caving to the pressure.

That would be wonderful but it sounds too good to be true. Not saying you are a liar but maybe that guy is out of the loop. Hope what he said is true though.

I might call and see if I can get a confirmation from another CSR.

yea at this point I'm not buying it. I have heard so many different things from one company I don't know what to believe anymore.

I called ATT today and they were able to move my upgrade from 11/25 to now. I just told them that I needed a replacement phone. Thank you ATT.

The last rep I spoke with said the same thing . . . but he can't confirm it. He said just wait awhile tonight.

Ok, called back for the second time today. I spoke to this miserable sounding man named Willie. He gave me the same ol' "sir, we can't change the upgrade date on iPhones." I then asked to speak to a manager. 15 minutes later another miserable sounding person named Tracy came on the line. I said that my iPhone was broken (it really is) and I really needed to pre-order tomorrow. She also stated it wasn't possible.

Now I'm getting a little frustrated. Especially after hearing about some of you getting your dates moved so easily. What's next? The cancel threat. "Please hold, sir." Another 15 minutes go by, she comes back on and states that she will credit my account $250 to cover the cost of the upgrade.

Thanks and adios miserable AT&T folk!

Maybe iPhone should not be mentioned at all. So all you said was you need a replacement phone and they didn't ask you anything?

Wow it was really easy for me to get my date changed. Just had my friend try and I coached him through it. In the end he was unsuccessful but ended up getting a $330 credit spread out over the next few bills. Not a bad deal I guess, but he would prefer the phone b

Lol well I'm definitely not lying, but the CSA may be. At some point I'm sure they are tired of these calls and thinking up any excuse to get people off the lines.

Never meant to imply you were lying, sorry if I did. I believe you are right, they just want to get people off the phone. It's probably inaccurate what you were told. Hope I'm proven wrong.

Ask for the customer rentention department. Tell em that the $250 is higher than breaking the contract and you are going to sprint or Verizon for the iPhone 4S.

But seems like people are having luck claiming that their phone broke and need to get a new one. The key to this method is never utter the word iPhone.

Kind of ticks me off that people are getting their dates changed so easily and I've failed 3-4 times already.

I'm happy for you guys, just upset with AT&T's inconsistency. I'm over here about to pay $650 and they are moving dates/crediting people over $300 with ease.
