meh, didn't get bumped up but got $105 credit and 6 month texting... worth about $195 total. better then nothing.

Are you guys asking for credit or is it being offered?

I don't think I missed anything. Even with the $250 charge...you're still getting a subsidy discount. The retail cost on the cheapest 4S is $650. Let's do some math: $199 + $250 = $449. That is still a $200 subsidy on the phone, and that is why you are being asked to sign another contract.

I thought the $250 is the subsidy? Which Is why the $399+$250=$650 price? You're telling me th 64gb iPhone is $850+?

Offered. But you have to be talking to the customer rentention department.

Well tried to see if I could get bumped up at 11/25 now and nope, no luck, got a measly 30 dollar credit. Had been thinking about jumping to verizon, maybe it's time.

What do you start with? Do you mention the iPhone? Are you telling them eligibility was pushed back?

Sorry to say, but yes. The full retail (unsubsidized) prices for the three models of iPhone 4s are $649, $749 and $849. Hard to swallow but appears to be true. The full subsidy value is $450.

Well my buddy Jason who just got the $330 credit from the rention decided to dial *639# for one last check before preorders start.

He got a text back.

It said....

"As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2 year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee"

He jumped up in the air and started doing a funny dance. Ha ha ha!

Looks like we are partying all night and preordering iPhones together.

Looks like the credit to his account is still going through too!

Nikos,

It sounds like you are really determined to get this discount... I'm rooting for you. This is what got me the $250 credit:

-explained that my phone was broken, upgrade date is 11/18, need to preorder tomorrow.

-CSR doesn't budge, says it's not possible. I ask for manager.

-manager comes on and also says it's not possible. I ask what my ETF is... it's $175.

-Transfer me to cancellations please... I'm on hold for 15 min, she comes back and offers the $250 credit.

-She mentions the credit cannot be used to purchase the phone, I would still have to pay the early upgrade price ($649 for 64GB).

That was it... The credit was applied to my account within an hour.

Thanks! I'm going to try this right now. Wish me luck! :D The whole broken phone thing seems like an obvious lie to me though. Coincidentally my phone breaks on preorder night?

Did you ask for customer retention department off the bat?

Don't tell them you want a iPhone 4s to replace it. Tell them you want your elgibilty bumped so you can pick a generic phone at the local AT&T store.

No, I just kept pressing 0 during the automation and spoke to the first CSR that came on. Then manager, then I asked for the "cancellation department."

Called AT&T through 611, and he explained that I can't preorder tonight, but will be able to purchase an iPhone 4S next Friday if I call back. I did ask for his name, and to also note the request on my account. My upgrade was on 12/08/11, and he told me since that date was near, the manager/supervisor will gladly upgrade for discounted price. I'm not sure if this will happen, but I guess I won't be preordering tonight.

Guy is telling me my phone is still under warranty and transferred me to the warranty department. Ugh. Need to try something different.

Just checked Apple's site and it's not covered by AppleCare. It's a launch day phone, so I knew this already.

Got at least $250 credit to my account.

Only $200.33 of it being shown up on my ATT Wireless Online account right now, but I got a confirmation e-mail and the name of the manager, so everything is set for preorder in 3 hours and 16 minutes :D

What did you tell them? I'm trying here.

All the call centers are closed, so isn't it too late for anyone hoping they can get their upgrade earlier?

Just curious, did they tell you it was possible to use the credit towards the purchase of the phone? Or is it for future bill payments only?

They're open. It's not looking too good for me. This rep is telling me she's checking if she can open some type of dispute process to bring my upgrade date up.

Wait, what? When I call it says they're closed.

I'm waiting to talk to a supervisor in the cancellation department. I wait 15 minutes and then they ask to call me back in 30. They call back and I wait 15 minutes and my call drops. I wait for them to call back and I wait 15 minutes and they ask if they can call me back. They say they are getting an extremely high volume of calls right now. I'm sure they've heard every story now. I'm going to try sympathy/flattery. Probably won't work but worth a try.

"Since you're using an iPhone, there's NOTHING I can do for you."

Asked for a manager. Not really sure what to say, but here we go...

Eh I didn't ask, but I'm guessing it's towards future bills because right now I see a $200 credit on my account in the "Pay Bill" section (I'll see tonight if I can use that towards the phone.

What happened though was that they sent me an e-mail earlier telling me my eligibility was for 10/6/11 which apparently an "accident" because it's NOT for an iPhone but any other phone and they said they have an agreement with Apple so they cannot bump my eligibility up for the iPhone, so then I told them that it's not my fault they made the mistake and made them credit me with $250, and so right now i have 200 of it.

Ok, thanks. They told me my credit was just for future bills. I'd rather not charge $649+Tax so hopefully that credit works towards the purchase.
