Don't even bother calling. I just talked to a lady for 20 minutes and even asked to speak to a supervisor.

I have 2 iphones on a family plan, unlimited texting, and my upgrade is due on 11-7-11. Never been late on a single bill.

They wouldn't budge at all. Told them I was afraid of the phone selling out and that's why I didn't want to wait until November. She put me on hold several times, but said they can't change the date already in the system. Freakin' BS if you ask me.

So my local store said the best they can do is upgrade me November 1st instead of the 21st. Do you guys think that paying your bill has any impact on the date being moved?

No it doesn't. I pay my bill almost 2 months in advanced and have done so , When Cingular was around. This happened once before and after the uproar, they changed their tune and let people early upgrade. They are trying to blame Apple (which could or could not be true), but only time will tell.If they do not fix it, either 1 or 2 things are gonna happen. A ton of people will be swapping for the other carrier, or just say screw it and stick with whatever iP they currently have and try and wait until their eligibility date (Which we all know that there is going to be a long period of high demand and shortages for some time like always). So we play the waiting game....

not for me but i didnt plan on upgrading anyways.

my mom however will finally be upgrading from her snail of a phone 3G to the iPhone 4 and not the 4S.

Alright thanks. Our plan has 3 iPhone 4's on it with unlimited family texting and I believe like 1400 minutes. We switched to AT&T November 21st 2010 so I guess I don't really have anything to complain about. I might just not upgrade and wait for the next iPhone.

How can we get an article posted on the front page about this?

I feel like if this was getting some bigger blog mentions, that at&t would change their tune...

Its getting plenty of press. You can scour the internet and see that its spreading like wild fire. Mac Daily news has the tool on their site and the comments are getting lengthy. Apples forums are buzzing too. So it won't be too long

Feel like we go through this every year.

Normally upgrades (full discount) are available after 18 months. In some cases, it's only 12 months (depending on monthly bill-$100+ before add on's I.E. text, data plans). My monthly bill is over $100, so I have been able to upgrade every 12 months.

At+t made exceptions a couple of times, so they might this year.

bought the iPhone 4 on launch and my upgrade has been at 11/18 ever since.. has not changed still

Is your monthly bill(just call charges-not text or data) under a $100?

I pay nearly $200 per month and my eligibility CHANGED from June 2011 to November 18, 2011.

Calling att at this point about upgrade eligibility is a waste of time; ATT CS is just as much in the dark at this point about the 4s as we are.. Keep checking the website or dial *639# on your phone and you'll get the same answers that they can provide at this point. Hopefully they'll announce something soon as they have in the past.

So the main number was eligible for June 2011 and changed to Nov 18th?

Reason I ask is because my number is the main number and eligible now, while my wife's line (got iPhone 4 on release day last year) is and always has been 11/2012

If your eligibility date magically changed, I would call At&T. They usually don't push dates back without a reason

Yes, it was pushed back for some reason. I got a bad rep on the phone earlier but I'll probably try calling again at some point.

Sounds like the rep didn't know anything. I would call back and ask for a sup

Good luck-

Service change?

Launch day iPhone 4, I'm elegible, but curious about this language on the confirmation screen:
"Some services on your current device may be replaced by similar iPhone services during upgrade."

I'm on unlimited bandwidth, does this mean something?

My mom and I had a upgrade eligibility date of 1/18/12 earlier today(Bought the iPhone 4 on August 17,2010). I'm the only one with an iphone and her eligibility date moved up to 12/1/11 but mine stayed the same.

Ok , so now im being told this is APPLE'S DOING! They said that Apple is the one that is supplying dates!
They said that Apple is the one that decides how the months for upgrading the iPhone goes. The customer relations rep said that Apple will probably change this before launch. Well they got a week to do something or ill jump ship quick!

same here - spoke to at&t retention dept and she said its the first call she got today about iphone 4gs eligibilty issue. i bought my iphone 4 on launch day and have to fork over $250 extra or wait until nov 25th 2011

i'm thinking about verizon seriously now

Did you do *639# and saw the June date?

If so call cs and have them research your history. I had the same issue and I called up. They tracked date and found I was right. Fixed date.

Just curious, those who are planning on switching, what do you intend to do when the next iPhone comes out? We just saw a sixteen-month product cycle, so it's not always going to be the approximate twelve-month cycle we have been used to. So there's bound to be some lag time. Will you switch carriers again, even though you (yet again) knowingly sign up for a two-year contract?

I don't get it. Why go through the hassle of switching carriers if you can't wait five weeks? You'll lose any plans you're grandfathered into, and you can forget about any loyalty perks if you're a new customer. You signed into a two-year contract and got a big discount for it.

I changed job and my new company gets a 20% discount. In turn my upgrade date was moved from June to November. The rep essentially told me there are alternative options in my region.
