Yes it does ship with 10.5.2 installed. :)

wolfattack:
Did you order a BTO? Or normal config? I'm pretty sure that a normal config can be returned to Apple retail store for an exchange. A BTO though, I am unsure.

Mine was a BTO, i changed the hard drive to the 200gig 7200, and changed to the Hi-Res glossy screen...

if your screen have a problem..
you definetly won't get one from the store,
they have to ship another one to you..
another wating game

I actually got one exchanged for me in-store. They appeared a little skeptical of the whole thing, but after some time, they ended up exchanging it out for me. I'm glad they're cognizant of the fact that it's that much easier for them to just take a MBP back and exchange it for me than to potentially lose me as a customer (this being my first Mac).

i was actually referring to those with BTO ( built to order) MBPs:)

Good God, is this still an issue for MBPs? I remember buying mine back in August, it was a serious issue, and I had to replace mine once. I can't believe it's stilll a problem.

It seems that there are a couple of "good" batches (9C81, 9C83) and one pretty bad batch, 9C82...which points out that the yellowing issue really depends upon the panel one recieves...I suggest anyone with a bad panel to contact Apple straight away, since good screens do exist and the issue does not seem to span across the entire MBP LED line anymore...

Actually, the situation seems almost the same as before - not all Mbps had the issue then either. I had one lg that had it and one that was perfect with no yellow. It seems like the samsung have improved and the LGs have become worst!

So i ordered a 17 inch hi-res glossy MBP, and i am gonna be very mad if it gets here in 2 weeks with a yellow screen. If this does happen, can I return it to the store, or do i have to send it in since i bought it online?

I was told that Apple Store would handle repairs etc, but if it needed replacing/returning, then back to the online store it need to go!

9C81, LG. No yellowing whatsoever though the overall default ColorLCD profile needs to be changed for best results. Slight light bleeding at the top and below, but only very slight. Satisfied.

Update: I've now looked at the display more carefully in a darker setting and must say that that there is quite a bit of backlight bleeding both on top and below (worse on top). Personally, I don't care that much because it's only noticeable when watching DVDs in widescreen format when the top and bottom are black. Otherwise I don't see it at all. Nonetheless, there IS quite a bit of backlight bleed on this display.

How do exchanges work

I have the 9c83 model and it has some pretty noticeable yellowing at the bottom. How do exchanges work with the online store. For example, how do you ship your computer back? Also, will they send me a new one if I made my laptop glossy. Is that considered BTO.

I'm wondering the same thing. I was told I would be sent some return shipping labels and when the unit arrived I would be sent out a replacement to my original BTO spec.

It's been two full days now, and for labels to arrive in the mail that seems to be a long time. I'm thinking of calling Apple again later tonight.

I just got my new Macbook Pro today (2.6) and it is PERFECT!

Hope I just convinced someone to buy one!

Starting reading this thread and did the test. I can notice a slight yellowish tint. Mine is the 9C82. I'm guessing these are the crappy ones? Only problem is I've been waiting for over a month to get this computer and I need to do work on my computer before I can just send this thing out. I can get a BTO replaced right? I called them and the guy said I could return it to Apple and get a new one, but I really gotta finish some of this homework I have. Anybody got advice on what I should do? Send it out or keep it?

finish your work first.
is it really bugging you?
if i have that problem..
i'd consider the wating period, probability of getting a dead pixel, worse a lemon..
even if yo exchange it, there's no guarantee the next will be 100% better.
and yours is BTO so it's harder.
anyway, if u can live with it, i'd advice stay..
well that's just me

Actually I did some calibration and there was no more yellow on the bottom, maybe it was just the settings? Then again when I compare the old calibration with the old one has a slight yellowish hint and the new one a bit more blue. I'm not really good with calibrating monitors so I don't know I should do. I really don't want to send it back but if i'm spending 2k on a computer I want it perfect.

we all want the perfect screen, no hissing when you use your headphones, unwarped top cover, no loose keys on the keyboard, NO dead pixels, MBP waking up right away after sleep upon opening, less than 2000rpm for the fans, not more than 110 F temp for the CPU,
it's up to you.:)

FFS, why do I spend $2200 on a laptop and notice a problem 20 min after using it?

Got the s**t 9C82 screen and it gets a little dirtier in colour towards the bottom

Anyone know how apple treats returns when you bought from apple.com? Such as, do you have to send your defect back to them before they send you a replacement?

What about the new 17" models do they have the yellowish screen issue, the 15'' had when they came out first?

how do you know what screen you have

Mine also was a Samsung that had yellowing.

how do you know what screen you have?

Mine gets dark at the bottom. Performed yellow screen test and it is darker on the bottom white bar. What do I do?
