Same here. I'd pay an extra 50% of the total cost plus shipping.

I might be able to go :p But i doubt it, I'd have to have my brother drive there from NJ and who knows there will be a line and stuff, so who knows if we show up if there would be any left.

Oh well, maybe I might be able to go but I doubt it.

now that this is on every internet forum possible i doubt the drive will be worth it to come from anywhere more than 4 hours away

Yeah, I was thinking the same. However, I don't blame anyone that lives close to give it a try. Very hard deal to pass up.

hmm... 8 1/2 hours from columbus, and i have a laptop already... worth it?
thanks for figuring that out
that means im about 7.5 hours away

Do those of you who are considering driving 8 or 10 or more hours remember what gas costs?

Also your time may be worth something, especially if you have a job (the sale is on a Tuesday).

There is no guarantee that there will be any of them available when you show up. There is no guarantee of the condition that these computers are in. Some are probably fine. Some are probably problematic.

You can get this computer on eBay for $300.

I live near there, but at $50 a pop, I'm guessing th camp out line is going to make a Star Wars premiere look like nothing.

I appreciate your sentiment. I live in Buffalo. And I'm thinking.. 10 1/2 hour drive one way for a $50 iBook... Hmmmmm Could be worth it.. Gotta car pool!

I live in NJ.... and I am SERIOUSLY contemplating the 6 hour drive. That, or I'll see if I can get a train that goes there. :)

I will give someone $200 through Paypal to get me one, and to ship it to me. If you are interested send me a PM.

$80-$150 I will spend if any of you can get me this and ship it to me. My sister has really been needing a computer because she lives in Virginia but I don't think it is that close to this place at all. I need to email her and stuff. I know you can get much more for it on eBay but if any of you can do a good deed I'd more than appreciate it...PM me or email me gt5790@gmail.com I might be interested in two.

this is a great deal, but I don't understand how nuts some of you are to get one. Drives of 5, 8, 15 hours? For a 500mhz ibook? Heck, a lot of the people saying they want to do this have much, much better macs in their signatures... are you all just bargain hunters?

We sure are! I mean come on $50 for a $300-$500 computer? ...I'll go get my wallet!! :D

I'm looking for a low-power, low-cost, low-profile, light-duty webserver. Mostly for hosting sites that I'm developing before they get posted to the "real" host and are live.

A 500MHz iBook running 10.4 (or Linux) for $50? You can't beat that.

Guys, really, come on. I sympathize with your wanting to get one of these at such a low price, but its really not the big deal that its getting made to be here.

For one thig, these computer have been used by stuends that paid basically nothing for the things, which mean the cast majority probably treated them like crap. You know 99% of kids that used them have no idea about how to treat a laptop battery and the battery you're going to get will probably hold a charge for about 10 minutes.

And who do you think is going to take 2 (or more) hours out of their day to go buy you a laptop for $25 profit?!? That probably includes them taking off work and losing money that way. In addition, it would be easy to spend $5-15 of that just in gas. The people that are offering $150 plus shipping have more the idea, if i lived there i might consider trying it for that much.

Especially considering you can only get one... if I went out there to get one it would surely be for me or someone in my family. But hey, maybe you'll find somebody that'll do it. Good luck. I kinda doubt they'll even sell all 1000.

I sure hope someone can help me out, my brother in law went to the army and my sister left, they need something so I can email them and don't have much money....this is the perfect solution. If any of you can help I'd pay $150 plus shipping.
