I like those, got one of them and one of the NES ones for my Fire TV.

Yeah, I still have a SNES set-up upstairs. I'm trying to get a Super Mario Kart night together with a couple of friends when my shifts allow... magic stuff.

Sadly, I am inordinately sensitive to lag of any kind. If the emulator's laggy, I won't be able to put up with it.

Yeah, me too that's why I notice it and the wife doesn't. Like I say though it's not the actual emulator, it's the controller. If you stick it on your iPhone and use touch screen controls it's instant. But touch screen sucks.

I think the new nimbus might be better due to it's using Bluetooth 4.0 whereas I'm almost entirely certain the rest use Bluetooth 2.0. I'm going to get one at some point to see if it's any better.

Actually, I don't know why I hadn't thought of this before now. But the game I'm working on just now suffers from none of the controller lag I'm seeing in the emulator no matter what control method I'm using. So it's not the c.t.r.l.i causing the lag after all.

Strange though, I've just run it on my iPhone again to double check and there is no lag there whatsoever, even when using the c.t.r.l.i. When I get the chance I'm going to have a nosey at the source code and see how he's handling the extended controllers on the Apple TV because that seems to be the only place lag exists so I'm curious.

What sort of ROMs are you looking for? COOL ones or DOPE ones?

Haha wanted to play donkey kong country. Found it, however I have given up as I followed the instructions and watched the video and nothing but error messages :( I was using a free account so my partner logged into xcode with his paid developer account if that made a difference and we still couldn't get it to work :(

Don't know what went wrong :(

Where are you stuck? I can help you.

I've been using the SteelSeries Nimbus I purchased from the Apple Store. I like the controller, but I notice a little lag with the control pad. Since the analog sticks seem fine, I'm going to assume that the control pad is the culprit, not lag.

Could there be a way for other bluetooth devices to be used with this app through private API? Since Provenance will never ever be accepted into the App Store, a private API shouldn't be a problem. I would love to use my Wii remote w/ Super Famicom classic controller attachment.

does the dev have any plans to update the app
Or anybody else
In the future

He's still actively working on it, yeah. If he ever gives up, it's open-source so someone else can take over doing it. Just as anyone can contribute to it's development at the moment.

I have it too. I don't think its lag, you just have to press the buttons extra hard to register each time. Im returning my controller asap

Thank you so much if you could :) I am at work at the moment but after I went to build the error was something about a missing provisioning profile. Can't remember the error message exactly so will have to try it out again when I get home.

For that error, under project, select provenanceTV-release instead just of just provenance. Under bundle identifier change com.jamsoftonline.Provenance for com.aliciatv.provenance. The point is to change it to something random. And run it again by pressing the play button

Thank you thank you thank you, you are awesome!!! Now my next stupid questions is, how do I then delete the games from Provenance if I don't want them anymore? Can't see a delete button anywhere.

Thanks!!

So for right now the Nimbus looks like the best option to play games on Provenance, but some recent posts are talking about some lag. Any other suggestions for a controller to use? Super psyched about being able to play all my childhood classics but the siri remote is not doing it for me.

I hope people start contributing to the development. It has a great foundation but needs a lot.

- better organization. Filters, favorites, collections, recently played.

- ability to configure controllers.

- cheat codes

- filters / smoothing... snes games look so much Beter with them. It would be cool to configure this on a per game basis because certain games like super Mario world lag on emulation.

- screen size options.

- iCloud syncing would be nice so you can continue playing games across devices.

- top shelf support

- custom naming and artwork (already supported in iOS version)

I didn't notice lag with the Nimbus. The one issue though is the A/B buttons on the Nimbus are swapped from the original NES controller, so you have to get used to using the opposite buttons (until controller mapping in Provenance becomes an option anyway).

I don't think thats a real issue. Even though the A/B buttons are labeled differently (A is B, and B is A), the physical location of the buttons act the same as on the NES controller (e.g. now you have to hold A to run and B to jump in mario, whereas before it was hold B to run and A to jump.)

I didn't notice a lag either but did notice that you have to press the buttons a bit harder than normal to get them to register each time.

"I feel so old and in the way..."

That it does, I feel like a total tool. Apologies fellow MR posters for the oversight.

Many of us are really hoping the ATV4 gets jailbroken so we can use ControllersForAll and the amazing 8BITDO controllers with games on there.

They shamelessly copy the Nintendo original aesthetics, but the quality is so awesome!!

If Nintendo wasn't so far up it's own a*s it should be making MFi compatible NES/NES/N64/GC/Wii controllers and making some coin on hardware!

I used to be really into jailbreaking... I'm sorry to say it, but I think Apple won. I think I'm done with jailbreaking. It's too big of a pain. Apple has really stepped up updates... And I don't like having to wait or miss out on what these updates have to offer. Not to mention that the process of updating with A jailbreak is a pain in the ass.

I can accomplish most of what I want without a jailbreak now... I think the ability to sideload apps pretty much puts a nail in the coffin for jailbreaking... At least for me... It's just not worth the hassle anymore.

Even if I was still into jailbreaking.... There is no way that I would jailbreak my Apple TV at this early stage. I expect that there will be a lot of updates over the coming months. I think those will be more important than anything that can be game through jailbreaking.

Just my 2¢
