Well, I'm sure a lot of work has been put into the Sydney store. It has to, after all, live up to the title of one of the prettiest cities in the world.

Damn, I shed a tear thinking about it - I miss Australia!

Was out the front of the store today, still cannot really see anything.. and definitely still alot of work to go..

Apparently AUS$23 million spent on this store, its certainly going to be nice.

I still don't really get what all the fuss is about (sorry). There are stores that sell apple products already (Mac1, for instance). We have one RIGHT ON CAMPUS :-D and they have mac genius people there... So what is so special about this store (apart from the pretty black which matches my mac book heh heh)?

Do they sell things you can't get off the Apple Australia Online Store?

What they going to do with all that space? Stock up on i-phones??

;-)

Try getting decent supplies promptly of the latest and greatest releases from Apple. You can't. Apple screws its resellers over and over. It's every bit incompetence and internal disorganisation from Apple as much as outright malice.

My local reseller still cannot get any top end iMacs, although he could easily shift any number of these. Apple just will not supply them. He also had to wait an age for all of the new Macbooks, Pro and Air.

I would have told Apple long ago where to go, but he perseveres because he is a fan.

There's a big difference..

Guys for Apple this all about the customer experience. Apple is really really committed with these stores to providing Apple customers with the best customer experience bar none.

One difference between these stores, and the ones to come and say your local Apple service agent (Mac 1 for example) is that they will stock most parts (if not all) on site, no ordering and waiting for a part to ship. The San Fran store for example has an average 45 minute turn around on all warranty repairs (you can't beat that).

An Apple genius also has the authority to replace an under WTY Mac on the spot if they so decide with a new unit regardless of model, say where it may make an irate customer "happy" or where say a certain part is on back order, the list does go on and they do have a mantra believe me (make sure you get apple care!).

I could probably say more but I won't but a few people seem to have this "whatever" attitude toward apple building these stores here, it's really quite simple, they'll provide second to none customer service and support, back it up with their product and continue to grow, well at least that's the plan.

Hey need ya inputs on it

Howdy?

Well I am Nick a die heart apple fanboy/geek to start with.. As its has been published that Apple is commin with a store in Melbourne...and also updated Aussie website with Melbourne Job Opportunities.

So have been applied for Mac Specialist role in there.
Well i used work for Apple Australia as a tech head(Internship) for a month. to promote apple products to education sector on a Uni Offer. Well My role was to show Faculty, students and Admin that how to use Mac or whats special in there..in short why mac and not Microsoft.

neways i want you guys to put head on it and drop in ya suggestions or a feedback about how much probablity u think that i will be on a board?

I am very jealous of you all with the Apple stores as there are none around me to visit.

I am stuck with online/phone ordering or going to AT&T stores :(

ok, you Sydney duses...remind me where King Street is...I grew up in Sydney in the 60s but have been away 30 yrs +....is it downtown (near Circular Q) or up near the cross??

Corner of King and George st is right in the CBD area of sydney, near the Myer store. I don't live too far from it, can walk to the apple store when it open:cool:

Now if they could just open an apple store in New Zealand...

Interestingly, My partner has just returned from NYC & had been talking to a manager in a store there - word is, expect a store in NZ (location unknown) By the end of this year

At the risk of repeating myself...

I don't understand what is so special about a mac store. There are already a number of mac retailers (such as mac1 that only sell apple and apple / related products). Sorry... But I don't see what the fuss is all about. What has it got that mac1 (for example) doesn't have?

(Aside from the pretty black store that matches my pretty black macbook, of course).

It has the genius bar and in store learning of OSX/iLife/iWork/other mac stuff.

scroll up!

In addition to extraordinarily attentive service, Genius Bars, customer support, and the provision of "hands-on" experiences, the Apple Store also provides individuals with a place to hang out, work on papers/articles for work/school, and a free internet café with unlimited time usage. The stores in NYC each draw over 10,000 customers/week and each earn more profit per square foot than Tiffany's Jewelry
Store - this is truly a successful retail strategy by anyone's standards.
