Aren’t ANZ the only bank to currently feature Apple Pay here?
I’m commonwealth so it’s not something I have even looked at.

Nah there are a few of them now. Even still, you'd think they'd enable Apple Pay in the app. I can pay with Apple Pay in some Safari stores.

(Just trying to make sure I can check out the X the quickest possible way lol)

I've used Apple Pay in the Apple Store in Adelaide on my iPhone 8+. And I'm with Beyond Bank.

In the store, or the App? I have Apple Pay set up on my phone, but all I see is "check out" and the only options are my credit card/s.

It's also weird, anytime I go to check out it asks for my shipping address. But when I go into account/settings it already has my default shipping address set up.

Edit, nvm got it lol.

iPhone 8 plus 256gb - space grey

Telstra store today told me - they were only receiving about 5 handsets per day There orders far exceeding what they are being drip fed in from apple. Hate to think of the wait on the x. Happy days

Optus offered me every other version going. They said every year there’s one combination which is a nightmare. Seems we both picked it.

Hi all
Another keen iPhone X fanatic here in Oz!
Not sure if this has been asked already, however, here goes:
With the pre-order do you think there will be an option for in-Store pick-up, or just a shipping option? I live 12 minutes from my local store, so the pick-up option would be ideal.
Obviously it all hinges on the stock levels and how fast I get my pre-order in !!

I'm pretty sure that Store pick-up will be offered. It has been for all other launches, so can't see why they would change it.

It would also be more economical for Apple if they did not have to ship the item to you. I intend to do Store pick-up as well, that way I don't have to wait around all day for the courier.

Has anyone on optus checked if there 8 is unlocked?
I did a quick google and it looks like optus don’t lock iPhones anymore but it didn’t mention 8 as the article was old. I haven’t got a bone optus sim to try myself.

I have a 5 week trip to Europe coming up and there’s no way I’m paying optus $10 a day for 100mb

They should be unlocked, but if you're nervous about it, you could use www.unlockit.co.nz - I use that every time I go overseas. You select the country and carrier and it installs a profile for you.

1830 flipping dollars for a phone! Jeeez honestly shocked. I think it's gonna be a flop in terms of outright buys.

The flag ship iPhone used to be 900 or so.
You can get an incredible flagship S8 for 900 dollars less.

I'm actually hoping it doesn't sell well because if it does, it may set a whole new precedent for what Apple will charge for their phones in future.

I've said all along that i'll get the X only if I can get it on a staff plan through my work, otherwise, it's just too much.

I'm crossing my fingers. I can afford it easily. It's just principle now. That price is laughable. It has approached MacBook/MacBook Pro territory. When in fact the technology inside most of the phone is mature and costs should be going down. The profit margins on 1800 dollars must be huge!

if want cheaper, japan is where its at dont know why we are being charged so high... apparently without tax the 64/256gb versions [using the current exchange rate now] without GST in Japan the iPhone X is almost 1290/1485aud... for 64 and 256gb models respectively

ridiculous we are being charged so much. even w/o GST in Australia it's still high at 1436/1663aud for 64/256gb models respectively

imean affording it is cake for me lol, but when i think of the price and how close it is to an entry level macbook 13" i'm kinda gulping and being confused at the same time haha

worst case scenario. i would probably settle with the 64GB, still better than paltry 32GB though i wish they had 128GB as it was the fine line between both tiers! hopefully by then 128GB becomes base model haha and i will finally be able to get the lowest priced iPhone :D

256gb is way too overkill for me... on my iPhone 7 Plus 128GB i've barely used over 50GB and that includes 3 years of photographs which i was too lazy to sort out [18000ish approx]. Take that out and sort in PC backup, and I'd be at around 36GB less at least. [Yea photos use up most of my space] but i noticed how ****** Photos app is for scrolling through dates, especially over 3 years to find something in the middle

Anyone guess as to what percentage of available iPhone X's the Australian market will have access to?

How much was it for past models?

I’m so eager for this iPhone launching! Yes it’s super expensive, but I have been waiting on this 10th Anniversary iPhone since I purchased my 6! Skipped the 6s, 7 and this 8 (aka 7s in many ways), so am desperate for a way faster iPhone!
I plan on pre-ordering the silver 64GB iPhone X right on 18:01 27th October. I will do so through the Apple Store app as I have it all set up in my favourites, and have my C/C details all entered and thus ready to go.
I will hopefully be able to select store pick-up as I live 11 minutes from my local Apple Store. That way no need to be stressing about the courier turning up and having to hang about.
What will you all be doing?

Hopefully putting a black 64GB on reserve to pick up at my local Apple Store on launch day, then camp out from the early hours of the money.
Will I still be able to pay for it there or will I have to pay when I reserve?

Even more so, I wonder how many they'll have for reservations. :')

So, how many of us here will be pre-ordering the iPhone X tomorrow night?

▪️App or website?
▪️Time ready before 6:01pm?
▪️What colour and capacity?
▪️Plan or outright?
▪️Store pick-up or delivered?
▪️What covers will you consider?
▪️Screen guards or naked?

It will be interesting to see how many will be in-store for those brave enough to line up.
We will have to post our outcomes and estimates for pick-up/delivery!
