Hmm... Pretend you are an architect. Now bring in augmented reality. Imagine tagging your plans with GPS coordinates and walking to the jobsite with your iPad. As you walk around, the plans dynamically move with you. Yup. It will happen.

you sir, are a genius

I use CAD software to make wiring diagrams and panels for Electrical substations. Right now I have to drive out to the field with a roll of 2 x 3 foot engineering prints and thumb through them to verify wiring.

Now I can just bring the iPad and leave the prints in the office.

Obviously you could use laptop for this many years ago. For some reason you did not. Waited for iPad? Laptop seems like a much better solution (for this particular task).

Exactly what task are you referring to and how is a laptop better? I'm not going to walk around energized panels in a cramped substation with a bulky laptop in one hand.

I'm in Northern California and unemployment for architects is ~40% behind only construction workers. I'm sure AutoCAD for Macs helps them a lot

Only $1,200 for AutoCAD LT, if AutoCAD LT for Mac comes out as well.

Unfortunately, there is no official announcement for an LT edition. Speculating, I would think an LT version might be released after Autodesk has some feedback from the full version users. Perhaps in a year or so. Think Autocad 2012/13.

FYI, the full version is available at MacMall for $500 off the retail price. Also, upgrade pricing is available for full blown PC ACAD users.

for those interested there is the rc1 release on "demonoid" torrent site.
I'll be getting it early to start my 2nd year architecture course :)
