Using beta software while playing in front of audience seems like the most unprofessional idea I can think of.Not sure when this arrived, but if it was present in betas... Did these Audiovisual artists not try out betas?

Good lord. Inability to read, inability to comprehend, inability to see any needs other than their own. This item is a perfect example of why large sections of the general public should never be asked their opinion, or be allowed onto the internet in general.
Of course they didn't! You never use beta anything in a live production environment. Hell when I was doing this kind of thing, I didn't even use the latest stable releases for anything. I would stay a few months behind just in case there were bugs. Not sure when this arrived, but if it was present in betas... Did these Audiovisual artists not try out betas?
Very much so!You are talking about the comments in this thread, right?
If so, I agree.
You don't have to try it in a live environment. If it is that darned important, you have a second string computer that you try these things out on - including connecting to big screens.Of course they didn't! How-ever... during COVID #lockdown times, where is he live performing????
On a large venue projector, it could be the size of a basketball. If anything, the orange dot is too unobtrusive.
I barely notice it when the the microphone is being used.
Still the same proportion of the screen area.On a large venue projector, it could be the size of a basketball.
for professionals? yes. give them the option. and, obviously, this dot is on the primary screen as well - not just the secondary displays which are sometimes and often used in professional venues. Is it really though? Like let's be completely honest here, this isn't as big an issue as apps using your mic without telling you.
So this dot also appears if you use an external mic/camera?Apparently only the dot is forced on external monitors. I mean, it's illustrated right there in the article...
The "professional grade" setup we use is a simple BlackMagic HDMI > SDI converter box that as far as MacOS is concerned, is just an ordinary display. And the software for video output sends audio for the video via USB to a sound desk that also provides the Mac with inputs for up to 64 microphones, which are all active as far as MacOS is concerned, though they'd typically all be muted (but not always).A better solution would surely be for the software makers to be able to output to dedicated video hardware over Thunderbolt (such as Blackmagic UltraStudio / AJA T-TAP Pro) to use professional grade SDI or HDMI outputs (and also bypassing the Mac's UI and ColorSync settings)?
But why?Did you read the article?
“In our particular case, this means that this orange dot appears on the stage output, which is totally unacceptable for anyone using macOS as a professional video tool that sends video output to a video projector”
You made your point very well, by example. Nothing better than thatGood lord. Inability to read, inability to comprehend, inability to see any needs other than their own. The dot just got five times bigger!"In their infinite wisdom, Apple has..."
A great conversation starter, to insult the company whose help you need in order to get the matter resolved...

The dot will appear on any secondary display/projection screen and it might look a bit crap to be honest.I don’t get it. Can someone please explain how this negatively impacts their live performance?
