Correct, you can get one at an Apple retail store on Friday.....if you don't mind waiting in line for several hours. Lines will be long (always are on iPhone launch day) and if you don't mind waiting you will walk out with one.

think need be there early or wont get the iPhone Not a given getting there on release day you get one.. they usually turn away people after certain count..

not an apple store with in 4 hours of here

That's the only downside, not having a local apple store. But I can tell you from experience that apple retail stores get so many extra units of what ever it is at the time iPhone 4s,iPad 3, iPhone 5 etc. it's crazy.

Last two big pre orders I saw plenty people just walk right in ask if it's in stock pay and leave the day of a big launch. iPhone 5 will be no different

2-Weeks.jpg

I just ordered mine and it was 2 weeks from the start. Im guessing it will be the same as last year where they eventually bring it back a week after the initial surge. None the less i am stoked!

I waited until 10:30 AM to preorder the 4S and had no problems getting it delivered launch day. This blows.

Yes I saw the 1-2 weeks delivery date when I went through the order process. I didnt order in the end as I have just sold my 4S. I will take my chances at the retail store and queue up early instead

dont get too depressed guys, apple could be saying two weeks just to cover their ass. you wont really know for sure until you get your tracking info

I think they are as the last thing I ordered from them came a whole week earlier than the expected delivery date. Don't stress is what I say :)

I guess the rumors they were having some part issues with the screen are true. People are funny they immediately think if shipping gets pushed its because billions of people ordered. If it happens this early it just means they don't have a big supply right now. Genius move from Apple though. They're masters at this Crap.

So you were told 2 weeks last year ad got it sooner? Do you recall when?

If it says ships in two weeks, they mean two weeks. But since the phone doesn't come out for a week, two weeks from now means you only get it a week late. So if I were you I would head to the store next Friday and see if you can get one that way. Then you always have your online order to fall back on. People need to remember that they only allocate a small amount of units to the initial preorder, but that has nothing to do with how many the stores get. In my experience, the retails stores usually get enough units to last at least through the morning. Of course it also depends on which variation your looking for.

Actually, I think ships in two weeks means two weeks from the 21st...or two weeks from the day they start shipping the ones for delivery on the 21st.

Agreed. I think they will start shipping on the 20th.

they will probably ship them to the shipping carriers on the 18th or 19th with a memo to hold for delivery until the 21st. That is why people got them a day early last year..people had fedex goofed.

Here it says available to ship in 2 weeks and then ADD 7 days shipping,
so DONT expect delivery by the 28th?

Going to be long lines again...

Almost 3 hours later, and ATT.com still showing deliver on the 21st, yet I still can't cancel my Apple order, so can't get one from ATT.

I wouldn't mind so much if they were sold out so quickly (ordered mine at 0405 EDT) on both sites... it's just frustrating that my choice to go through apple means I'll get my phone 2 weeks later, and I can't be sure I'll be home to receive it.

I wonder if Apple allocated phones to the carriers and themselves in similar proportions as last year... or if customer behavior changed. Seems odd that they would run out so quick while carriers retain stock.

The worst part about this is that waking in the wee hours to order a phone makes one a geek, and I've failed at being a geek. Does it get any lower? :D

No way. "Ships in two weeks" means two weeks from today. If they meant two weeks from the 21st, it would say ships in three weeks. You're thinking too hard on this one.

wait, when they say 2 weeks, is it 2 weeks you'll get the phone or 2 weeks + a couple of days ??

Shipping in 2 weeks, plus shipping time, is how I read Apple's verbiage.

Would have ordered through ATT's site, but it was changing my $25/2GB plan to the $15/200MB plan. Apple's site appeared to let me keep my plan.

If, after work on the 21st, if the local Radio Shack/Walmart/ATT store still have it in stock, maybe I'll go there and cancel the preorder.

ships in two weeks with a 5 day delivery span from what I am hearing. I was referring more so to the delivery day. Shipping in two weeks, the 28th...means around October 2nd for delivery

That makes more sense. Let's hope it's not that bad.

First time I've preordered a phone. I preordered the iPad and iPad 3. Bought 3G 5 months after release when eligible. Skipped original since I had bought a phone months before it was released (and didn't have 3G, nor the apps at the time). Eligible for the iPhone 4 July 2010, so missed it then too. Skipped 4S, since not eligible until last March (so why not just wait until the 5 came out?)

For sure not later. I'll be leaving town the weekend of the 5th.
