The iTunes "HD" version is only 720P.
I'm waiting for the 3D 1080P release.
Sounds like a realistic idea that will happen around 2013 give or take 3 years

Icaras said:20th Century Fox rarely (if ever) releases movies on in iTunes in HD.
Yea, boo to them. I wish they did.
Well at least I have my Star Wars Anthology on blu-ray though![]()

Oops, looks like the movie studios forgot that if they don't provide customers what they want, there are easy (free) alternatives. And then they go around moaning about piracy. As long as they keep pulling stuff like this (removing Avatar from iTunes after releasing it on bluray, not providing HD options) I will have little sympathy for them. Their strategy is incredibly stupid.
Is this Disney's remake of Dances With Wolves?
Oh wait sorry, that was Pocahontas.
Or several months ago on Blu-ray.
It is truly and utterly ridiculous, I agree. Studios only have themselves to blame for, for the rampant pirating of their content. I also find it incredibly frustrating to see content constantly reshuffled around in the iTunes store before and after blu-ray releases. I understand the studios' paranoia with digital distributed content, but like you say, this attitude just reinforces piracy.
When things pop in/out of the iTMS (or Netflix for that matter) isn't about studio paranoia, it's about the bottom line. People with more money than Apple and/or Netflix are willing to spend are buying distribution rights to this content and are negotiating exclusivity windows for their top dollar purchases. I would agree that traditional distribution channels are worried about streaming/downloads cutting into their revenue but the studios are just going where the money is and right now the big money is still with TV and cable so those guys will get first bite at the apple. It is truly and utterly ridiculous, I agree. It is a movie for kids (or teenagers if you prefer). With that in mind it is good enough for it's target audience.
I read in the Guinness book of Records that every frame of this film took 48 hours to produce!

Avatar was such a piece of **** movie. I have no clue why it made over $1B
Why do you say that? It's a great movie.
Don't get me wrong, the cinematography was amazing, but I don't think it was $1,000,000,000 good. I expected to leave the theatre with my mind blown, but I left feeling like I had every other time I went to the theatre.
As for the movie, the story was average. Derivative, but what isn't these days? The special effects, particularly in the 3D version, were spectacular. Truly a beautiful film.

Great, now I can watch those excellent performances and follow the intriguing story without those distracting effects...![]()
