In recent history, say the last five years, has Apple ever released new products in the Holiday belt (between Thanksgiving(US of course) and Christmas)? Nothing for me comes to mind.

But I do recall that Apple has head the release of new products for MacWorld when you'd think that they just missed the boat of the holiday shopping season.

I don't remember any new hardware in November, let alone December. (Please speak up and correct me, what was the most recent Apple hardware both announced and released Nov.1 - Dec. 31)

If Apple's going to break this tradition for a video iPod, do it before Thanksgiving!

if the true video ipod is really coming will be before Thanksgiving, not after. They can't miss the biggest shopping weekend of the year.
So, is either before Thanksging or at MWSF or later. I hope it is the same of they will launch the Zune.

iPod Video Remote for iTV?

Many people seem to worry about the touchscreen thing. How about the apple remote then? Front Row works fine with it (it's still painfully slow but you get my point...). I can see a widescreen video iPod with those (existing) radio remote headphones (with the same controls as the apple remote and the shuffle) that you use just as you use front row. Add an infrared port so you can use the apple remote when your iPod is connected to a TV.

The only downside would be you can't really scroll well... maybe they'll come up with a small-sized clickwheel (basically the apple remote control, except that the outer ring can be used to scroll just like on the big clickwheel).

This may have been said (a few times) before: what if this rumored iPod video device actually works hand-in-hand with the iTV? Meaning, the iPod video could stream content to the iTV (as well as the iTV getting content from your Mac) AND also act as a remote (of sorts) for your iTV?

That might be neat...

If this appleinsider note is correct, MacBook Pro could be Nov. 1?

Either this thread is very dead, or no one remembers any Nov/Dec Apple hardware.

Since no one answered, I decided to look it up at

http://www.apple-history.com/

In Apple's entire history, they have "Introduced" 4 pieces of hardware in November:

November 1997
Newton Message Pad 2100 (Terminated by Steve Jobs 3 months later!)
Power Macintosh G3
PowerBook G3

November 2002
PowerBook G4 (1 GHz/867 MHz)

As far as I can tell, nothing released in December. Ever.

If we see an iPod video after Dec. 1, no way did Apple plan it that way. Could it be that the reports from thinksecret reflect the uncertainty within Apple itself?

i cant wait for the 6G iPod!
My 4G iPod has, for quite a while, been used as an external drive, since the screen is completely gone (i removed it after it shattered) and doesnt work for playing music.... i still love it though :)

tha last newton came out on oct ~ 20 1997. maybe we will see the iPod pro next year on the 20th? :D ....but then there the whole 30th anniversary factor.

I think Apple may be moving to fix the "scratching issue". Anybody here have a new nano?

I got a Red nano last week at the 29th Street Store opening, been using it every day without a shield of any kind and there are NO scratches, not even on the screen.
The old nano would look like it's a hundred years old by now without a case, I know, I've got two that have lived in Agent18 shields since they came out of the box. First nano I got had no case and got pretty badly scuffed before I sent it in for a bad display. The replacement is one of the two that never sees air...

The reason these rumors keep circulating is because Apple is months behind on the development of this product. They originally intended for it to come out around April 2006 but a redesign forced them to go back to the drawing board.

Nobody in their right mind would take a look at the pathetic 5.5th generation "upgrade" and think that was what Apple had planned all along.
