Returned BOTH iPad 2's due to backlight bleeding

Sorry, but I had to return both my iPad 2's for the issue of backlight bleeding. There is no exchange that brought me satisfaction to fix this stupid quality issue. I cannot believe a $500+ apple device bought on day 1 after waiting a whole 6 hours in line can result in such ridiculous quality issues.

Before you rant on about all the iPad 1's have this issue, both my iPad 1's did not have any issue like this nor dead/stuck pixels.

The quality of the iPhone 4 is a testament to how bad QA is from Apple these days. I'm not gonna play the lotto game so I'm returning for full refund. After a few months, I'm gonna rebuy it when I see signs of it being fixed.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE WITH THIS ISSUE TO RETURN THEIRS FOR MONEY BACK. Don't settle for a $500+ device and get something you'd expect from HTC, HP, DELL, and/or SAMSUNG/LG.

So I went back to another apple store: check out this post:https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/12161873/

Get over it. Mine has this issue, but I honestly don't give a rats arse. I enjoy using my devices, not obsessing over minutia.

To each his own. My iPad 2 has this issue (albeit very minor) and it doesn't bother me. I don't spend my time staring at a black screen, which is the only time it's noticeable.

From what I've read the back light bleeding issue is a temporary problem in that it fixes itself for some reason.

Do a search here and others have posted this very phenomenon.

So if you get another iPad and it has the issue, just wait a week to see if diminishes.

Don't delude yourself about your purchase. You got a faulty one. Backlight bleeding isn't listed as one of the features.

I have backlight bleeding but I will just exchange at the apple store. No need to freak out. On a side note I exchanged the first one for the same issue and got another iPad with an even worse screen. Apples quality has improved over the last few years. I exchanged my 3GS 8 times for various issues and have yet to exchange my iPhone 4

Explain how backlight bleeding can get better over time? It's been ~5 days now and the problem still exists. It's STILL YELLOW AS WELL. I've actually even turned on FULL BRIGHTNESS AND LET THE DEVICE SIT UNTIL BATTERY DRAINS OUT.

Still the same results. This is a defective panel - if you are saying otherwise, then you just feel bad about returning or exchanging or you just really try to hide the real facts about the issue.

8 times? You know, after the 3rd attempt, I'm asking for a full refund and that's already pushing it.

You guys crack me up with your loyalty.

dude, why yell, I just told you what others way stating, I don't even own an iPad2. If you want to cop an attitude, do that over at the apple store. People try to help here and there's no need for the yelling.

Who is yelling? the caps is to NOTE how the issue remains even after futile attempts to "fix" it.

This backlight bleeding issue needs to be heard loud and clear.

It's apparent by his profanity that his misplaced anger is based on having a faulty iPad and still trying to convince himself that it is ok. Any iPad with light bleed is faulty. If you keep it, you are thick. End of conversation.

What do you want to do? Wait beyond 14 day of the return policy to then say it's a problem?

The loyalty for apple products just amazes me. A truly defective iPad 2 and yet people here defend it as if they worked for apple QA/Engineering.

Have a beer and relax, you will feel better then :)

caps on the internet always denote yelling so when you put your text in caps,we readers of your post interpret that as yelling.

if you want to emphasize some text just use bolded text

Yes, I want to spend all my time searching for a replacement over an issue that is never noticed unless I go out of my way to reproduce it.

Whatever floats your boat. My enjoyment of the device has not been impacted by this issue and I am not about to get as worked up as the OP about it.

I don't drink. I've returned it and I feel good. Other than having to waste my 6 hours in line last friday and my hopes shattered and both my iPad 1's sold, I'm feeling pretty good.

I just want everyone to know about this issue and to do something about it. Don't "let it be" or "just accept it". It's not suppose to be like this!

That's probably the best route for you. It seems like all have at least some bleeding that's noticeable on a black screen in dark room with brightness turned up.

And some are really bad and is very noticeable in normal use when watching a letter boxed video etc.

Personally, I'm fine with the former, but would definitely exchange if it's as bad as some pictures members have posted and noticeable while watching videos at normal brightness etc.

Mine is getting delivered today, so I'm crossing my fingers that mines in good shape.

But it seems like all of these are going to have at least minor light bleed noticeable in current conditions since they just glued the thing together this time instead of using clips etc. to keep it tighter. So it may not improve unless they do a pretty big case redesign. For me, as long as it's something I have to go out of my way to notice, I'm fine with it. If I notice it during normal use then it will get exchanged until I get one that's right or returned if I can't get one without major bleeding.

The "backlight bleed" usually fixes itself after a few days of use, once the glue surrounding the lcd / bezel hardens and dries (which prevents the light from leaking through slightly).

It's not being worked up about it - it's being proactive about it. Posting on MR is the best thing to do to get the word out in full effect. Of course I'm po'd. I don't expect these sort of issues especially when Apple is all secretive about the iPad 2 without demo units until after 5pm launch day. Making everyone wait and not having a pre-order just to drive up hype and hysteria.

I'm not entitled to a damn thing but I'm for sure entitled to a working device that has no screen defects. The MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF THE IPAD IS THE SCREEN. For me, it's movie watching on the go for about 80% of the time on the iPad.

I'm not defending it, I'm just telling you that it doesn't bother me. If it bothers me even 1%, it doesn't offset my 150% satisfaction with the product. So, for me, I guess I'm 149% satisfied with my purchase. :)

Truth be told, if I had the same issue with my 50" Panasonic Plasma, I wouldn't take it back. But, that's just me.
