That would be nice.I'm betting on Apple ditching DRM. With Apple being one of the largest music retailers they are in position to tell the labels "We will no longer carry DRM'd music in our store." Would any of the labels want to loose their biggest reseller?
That would be nice.
No more DRM.![]()
Probably right.I doubt it there would be mumblings in the music industry before now
I like it - make your own reality!
Well, whoever is right or wrong on the new nanos, I think we all have the same view for 09/09: BRING IT ON.
I think it is very clear that Apple has been able to keep at least one secret. They are saying that this is going to be "big". But even if all the rumors are true it would not be "big". So either (1) it's something that is not yet rumored or (2) No one will ever take Apple seriously when they say "big" again.

The other thing could be a huge price drop. Like prices cut in half across the line.
I just don't see what can be that big about it. Even if ALL the rumors (complete redesign of iPod line-up, iTunes 8, iPhone 2.1) are true, I just don't see that as HUGE news. If you throw in some of the "fringe" rumors (Subscription service, Beatles on iTunes, etc.), it makes it bigger news. But, that would take a three hour event to introduce. This event has too much hype, even for Apple.
You know what would make it huge? Redesigned MacBooks! But I am admittedly a very biased opinion on that matter!![]()
I want one thing out of this show. Apple to fix the problems with the iPhone 3g and 1st Gen running 2.x software as stable as 1.1.4.
Give me a phone that is stable and I'll keep my 3G iPhone. If not I'm returning it and after 20x years of being an Apple Guy, I'll hold out for Android. My restocking fee is $30.00.
no problems with our 5 3G phones...
Yeah when you need to protect trade secrets and run a company in this day and age maybe prudence and some paranoia will save you from being stolen by the competition. Again 5 3Gs working flawlessly here....

Based on the banner and the name of the event,http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/editor/menupop.gif
I think we can be pretty confident that it will be iPod/iTunes related.
"Oh ... One More Thing" ... giant banner drops to
reveal Steve Jobs wearing nothing but this (awkward moment)
to do something on the EAST COAST!!!!!!!!!

If you have 5 3G iPhone's than I would expect one of two things.
You don't upgrade iTunes and you don't upgrade to the latest firmware. Otherwise you'd be experiencing the same problems as all the other people that go to this room.
When Apple puts on their own Support Page that if you are experiencing reception problems go outside or go to a window: There is a problem with the software or At&T either way it's my phone and I want it stable and able to make/receive calls.

Check with your carrier to verify that you have wireless coverage in your area.

Then again, they may be saying its going to be "big" because they are worried that none of the press will show up.
The current rumors really don't warrant all the invited press members showing up.

We have 5 not I alone. The problems are with AT&T and by the way, Blackberrys are having similar problems. AT&T is the new kid on the 3G block remember? I 'm not sure if they could have tested their networks with the current load.... so it stands to reason that they are using us as beta flies...

That is pure speculation. If it were true than Apple would have put out a press release stating it. If it's purely an Apple Problem than AT&T would have put out a press release stating it.
Truth is; nobody has any clue who's problem it is but AT&T and Apple.
Either way... it needs to be fixed because Apple and AT&T are losing credibility. And that goes even for the Apple OldTimer's and not the young ones that care just about games and catching the latest Twitter releases.
Some of us depend on the phone to actually work and make a living using it.

It's not pure speculations, it's an educated assumption. Articles all over the place and reports verify that all 3G phones are having similar problems. The cutting edge is always the bleeding edge. When you want to be the first to get new technology, you have to expect some stormy waters. Come on did the internet always work as fast and as fluently? Think about it and be reasonably honest. Yes, we all depend on our phones, computers etc..to make a living these days and there's plenty to learn from all experiences, but if your living is that important to you, surely you would think twice about leaping into uncharted territory. When the 1st iPhone came out, there were plenty of ATT problems which took a while to sort out - no one pointed fingers (Apple or ATT). ATT's new 3G network is new, unproven and spotty - that's a fact. It's still not providing everywhere coverage.etc... Remember - The cutting edge is always the bleeding edge...
He would have an out of the blue event to do that. He wouldn't do it on an event that says "Lets Rock"Steve: Its been 11 years since I returned to Apple. We've done some pretty amazing things. ::goes though amazing things:: And now it's time for another transition. Over the next few months I will be working closely with ::insert name here::. ::talks about the amazing things ::said person:: has done while they have been at Apple and how great of a leader and inventor they are. And by ::insert date here::, I will be stepping down from Apple as full time CEO, but remaining a member of the Board of Directors.
just an idea.
