We have 5 not I alone. The problems are with AT&T and by the way, Blackberrys are having similar problems. AT&T is the new kid on the 3G block remember? I 'm not sure if they could have tested their networks with the current load.... so it stands to reason that they are using us as beta flies...

If you read post #13 and subsequent dialogue on the link below, you will learn that by nature of 3G signals, regardless of who the carrier you are using is or what phone you are using, 3G signals are much more susceptible to interference. For example, you can be standing in line-of-sight of a 3G antenna and have 5 bars, but if you walk ten feet to your right and stand behind a parked UPS truck, your signal may go down to 1 bar. Read more about this here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/548847/
Regardless of whether you have 5 bars or 1 bar, the Safari connection speed it just as fast (based on my experience).

you. Don't speak for everybody.

Correct, just the educated few. :D

As always right after updates, Digital Skunk.

Have we ever been genuinely happy? I find in general the MacRumors community is happiest just before updates or sometime in between updates, but never right after.

Every time this is what happens. Expectations rise, rise, rise, rise and rise, and then once the announcement hits, there is no possible way it can please everyone and live up to expectations. You can't please everyone at the same time, and Apple isn't going to try to (as it shouldn't).

Agreed. I am not making any guess, especially the uneducated ones claiming or hoping for MacBook Pros and redesigned MacBooks. I am just going to sit back and watch... may even wait until the 10th to see what happened.

Some people are always disappointed no matter what Apple does.

Double agreed. People got a little too carried away with the Air launch. They got their hopes on some magical 11" 1 pound 12" Powerbook replacement with dedicated graphics and 4GBs of RAM. And were pissed off when Apple gave them what was technically feasible.

Likely

1. All Flash based iPods
2. Multi-Touch Nano
3. Programable Click Wheel
4. True Surround Sound on all iPods and the Apple TV.
5. iTunes 8.0
6. QT 7.5.5
7. Remote plays to the iPod Touch and the iPhone
8. Wireless syncing
9. OS 10.5.5 released
Don't think that we will see all flashed based iPods this time. Agree that we will see it in the future.

A Nano Touch would be interesting, but think we won't see this as the screen would be too small.

Wireless syncing would be nice.

The rest seem plausible. We'll know soon! :)

Fake!

That huge banner is soooo fake, even the bench is fake, look how it pixelates at the end, even the buildings are fake. And the sky? Who said sky was blue hmmm? :D

(Yes I'm being pretentious like all the other Photoshop 'experts' tht claim they can spot a fake)

Lol

Sorry - i forgot. My mistake. Anywho, twas interesting while it lasted.
(Something tells me Apple likes Tuesday the 9th's)

Umm, maybe it will be announced that this will be Steve Jobs last Apple media event and the "on more thing" announcement will be his successor.

That would absolutely KILL Apple's stock. Steve doesn't want to lose that much money (seeing as he has so much Apple stock). No way.

- new iPod Nano design.
- new iPod Touch Nano.
- high capacity 30 and 60 GB iPod "Classic" offered with flash memory only.
- Mostly DRM-free iTunes tracks.
- Mobile Me storage of your music, and streaming anywhere you are.

The last Apple thing I bought was an iPhone, on launch day (July 11).

I am suddenly overcome to buy something more. I don't need anything. I have a sweet MacBook and iPhone 3G. But for some reason I want a nano or a classic. Why??

I miss my 80GB classic, but I love my iPhone. What is a boy to do?

Apple TV

Apple's held events for less, but iTunes going all DRM free is nothing more than a press release. Special events are hardware focused.

Television shows in HD? Weren't Apple televisions rumored about once upon a time? iPhone/iTouch remote controls, Apple TV built-in, they've even tested a speaker system. The display is the easy part. Throw in some Ive design pizazz, and it's home theater Apple style. What are they waiting for?

Or maybe it's a souped up Apple TV/Time Capsule/preamp/receiver that can drive your home theater. Digital amp. QAM/ATSC tuners. One device to rule them all.

I would love to see an iPod touch-thin Classic. That would be awesome.

The one thing I miss is being able to control my iPod from my pocket, without taking it out. With the iPhone and iPod touch, I need to take it out to change tracks.

Yes, I know the iPhone has that little clicker thingy. But who uses iPhone earbuds anyway?

DRM...why do people care?

I'm seriously not trying to be funny. Can someone explain what DRM prevents and how this affects them. I've never had a problem downloading, transfering, or burning any of my albums and importing them into Itunes.

Free iPod Touch Firmware

Please no more paid upgrade for iPod Touch firmware. I believe I already got what I wanted for upgrading my iTouch to 2.0 the Apps. That is the only reason why I paid for this firmware. After this forget about future paid firmware update nothing revolutionary about it that supports the current version for iTouch. Alright Apple I'm done paying you $9.99 for the firmware I rather buy me a nice app than buying a firmware update this coming tuesday.

you can only put them on your iPod. you can put them on a third party mp3 player or your phone.

I've always thought that now would be too soon for a flash-based Classic model, because flash memory is too expensive.

But...you can buy a 32GB CompactFlash card for $100, stuff it inside an old iPod Mini, and you basically have a 32GB flash-based iPod right there for $150. So maybe Apple can do a 32GB flash Classic for a reasonable price after all.

I have always been attracted to the thought of purchasing a Nano, the only thing holding me back thus far has been capacity issues.

For about the past 4 months I have been using an orange iPod Shuffle as my mp3 player of choice for running/car/home etc. I enjoy the portable size and the random song play in the car, but I would eventually like to choose what I listen to besides flipping the in-order/random switch.

That being said, I hope the Nanos come with larger storage capacity. If they were to announce a 32GB nano I'd be all over it. On the other hand I'd love to get an iPod touch, but for as active as I am I don't see the convenience of having a touch with you while running, or for that matter even car use.

Either way, this whole debut will be cool that they're doing. My true excitement lies in the hope that they announce the laptops everybody has been aching for.

If you have 5 3G iPhone's than I would expect one of two things. You don't upgrade iTunes and you don't upgrade to the latest firmware. Otherwise you'd be experiencing the same problems as all the other people that go to this room. <SNIP>

I've never had problems with my iPhone, nor have the handful of friends who also have iPhones. But I am in Japan, and we have relatively good 3G networks here. I have said it in the past, the fact that Japan iPhone's don't have a 'fall back network' - aka Edge - that the Iphone seems happy to play along by itself on the 3G. I think this is the issue with the software for the US as the iPhone gets itself a little confused and drops calls as it tries to decide 3G or Edge. That being said, it needs to be fixed.

And I hope the event does fix it, and the iPod nano is not the candy-bar orange one as i still don't think I like it, not that I have any say as to what would be a hit or not - just my opinion, new designs on th iPod touch to bring the features just below those of the iPhone, better mobile me intergration of all products - it is 'mobile' me so put the 'mobile' in there for better use, and possible new features on newly designed MacBooks and MacBook Pros - multi-touch trackpads across the line, with more touch functionality - and dare I say it - a MacTablet with full touch screen.

I have to agree. I hope Apple releases an iPhone / iPod touch remote (one that looks cool and doesn't have a mile long cable) that can clip on nicely and have a headphone jack for those who want to use better headphone. Or Apple partners with a quality headphone maker to come up with a better sounding set of Apple headphones.

Global store

iTunes store goes global starting in all countries where iPhone is sold. Purchases will be of course DRM free. But to get agreement for that from labels Apple agreed to provide also subscription scheme. DRM for subscriptions will be licensed also to 3rd party hardware producers. Some major partners will be announced.

subscription won't be happened this time. never. global store? it can't happened neither. copy right management is big trouble in some countries like China, Korea, Russia. we can't see it yet. there are a lot of songs already DRM free.

I can't wait!! Even though its just a day to go now, I'm seriously tempted to buy any IPod Touch I can lay my hands on. Yeah, I know how dumb that is. Don't tell me!. BTW I'm just curious about the fact that the net is swarming with the (so called?) leaked photos of Nano (I'm goin to kill any1 who tells me that its actually 'IPod Nano' ) and there are no solid rumors regarding IPod Touch, barring the random spectulations that it might have a camera and/or GPS. Anyways, I just wanted to ask that when will these IPods be available in the market?? On the day of the launch or does it take a couple of days? Also, will it be available in all the countries initially? Is there going to be a price drop?
