Just donate them.
The Pixel ships without headphones. Likely other Android phones as well.I thought US federal law *mandates* the inclusion of a hands-free piece with all handsets sold in the country. I could have sworn I read this many years ago, but now I'm having a hard time finding where I read that.
People are dicks so the rest of us must suffer? That doesn't really go to my point, though, since I suspect most people have lots of unused chargers and do not donate them, thus resulting in waste.
I’m starting to second guess AirPods. Worked great for some time. Then in the last 2 weeks they don’t connect to my phone. I’ve had tons of issues. I’ve reset and re-paired them multiple times.
Honestly, not including all these accessories in the box and having them as optional extras sounds like a win to me. Most people have chargers and headphones already, filling every box with e-waste is not a responsible move.
I get that people will perceive it as Apple trying to double-dip on sales, but if they price things just right and explain that the cost hasn't actually gone up, they could frame it as a win (i.e. only pay for what you need, if you have a charger and earphones then you can save $20 or whatever they cost).
Next UP: 2021 iPhones will ship without a back cover.
Except Apple being Apple, the accessories are rarely particularly cheap. Even the little headphone jack dongle costs 10 euros and that is a flimsy piece of crap.
Current iPhone 11 Pro is 1179€ for 64 GB model in my country. They could market that the iPhone 12 Pro phone is now say "starting from 1120€" and then as you choose options you start to get things like "+ Apple Pro Charger 39€", "+ Apple Lightning Cable 20€" and "+ Apple headphone adapter 10€" and then you are back at the original price and left feeling you have are forced to buy all these things just to use your phone normally.
At least personally I either give my old phone to either a relative, my girlfriend or sell it on the used market, including box and accessory bundle.
Including airpods with Pro models would be so weird. Most likely they would bundle the low end ones, but if you are spending $1200 on a phone, chances are you will spend the extra money to get the higher end headphones.

I’d be good with that.heck.
when I buy one just ask me if want a charger. One time free w purchase. Default to no.
Won’t happen any time soon. On the one hand apple is switching to higher wattage chargers to enable faster charging. If they drop a wired port, then you revert to very very slow charging. The two concepts work in opposite directions. This is highly doubtful but does raise an interesting question... When the port is finally (inevitably) removed, will the phone ship with a wireless charger?
heck.

I remember reading about a similar law but I can’t remember if it was a certain US state or another country. The law of course was to keep people from holding the phone up to the ear while driving since hands free is the law in some places. The Pixel ships without headphones. Likely other Android phones as well.
Honestly, that would be a really weird law. What would a law like that intend to accomplish other than ensuring lots of cheap headphones are made?
Apple is widely expected to release four new iPhone 12 models later this year, and ahead of time, analysts at British bank Barclays have outlined their expectations for the devices based on discussions with multiple Apple suppliers.

In a research note obtained by MacRumors, the Barclays analysts said that iPhone 12 models will not come with EarPods in the box, in line with a prediction shared by Ming-Chi Kuo last month. Oddly enough, the analysts also heard that iPhone 12 models might not ship with a power adapter of any kind, leaving only a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box.
While there would certainly be environmental benefits to Apple not including a power adapter with the hundreds of millions of iPhones it sells each year, such a move would obviously be inconvenient for customers without a spare USB-C charger. Apple's basic 5W power adapter can be purchased separately for $19, while the 18W power adapter included with iPhone 11 Pro models can be purchased for $29.
Earlier this week, the anonymous Twitter user Mr. White shared photos of a 20W power adapter that he suggested will be included with iPhone 12 models, which clearly contradicts with what Barclays analysts are hearing.
Barclays estimates that mass production of iPhone 12 models is four to six weeks behind schedule compared to a usual year. The analysts believe that Apple will still announce the new lineup in September, but at least some models might not be available to order until October or November, as was the case with the iPhone X and iPhone XR in recent years.
The analysts expect the two higher-end iPhone 12 Pro models to feature a triple-lens camera system with a LiDAR Scanner, first introduced on the iPad Pro. This would pave the way for new augmented reality experiences.
Barclays also said that it has heard about a potential iPad Pro refresh later this year, but it has no further details right now.
Last, the analysts expect third-generation AirPods to launch in early 2021.
Barclays analysts have a mixed track record in relation to Apple rumors. Their accurate predictions have included True Tone coming to the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, the removal of the headphone jack adapter with iPhone XS and iPhone XR models, and the removal of 3D Touch on all iPhone 11 models, while they were incorrect about the iPhone XS possibly having a smaller notch and the base iPhone 11 having 4x4 MIMO.

There are certainly laws against holding phones while driving, and they are at the state level. No federal law requiring that phones ship with the means to avoid that, though. And, in fact, wearing earphones while driving is against the law in many states.I remember reading about a similar law but I can’t remember if it was a certain US state or another country. Because they are designed to work with iphones, which come with a charger that works with AirPods Pro.*** AirPods Pro ship with no charger *** just saying
i'm sorry, did you mean earpods? if so, what's weird about that - they've always done that. if you meant to say airpods, your comment is based on an assumption about who will buy what, no?..
