I meant AirPods. For the past year we have had reports that Apple will switch to bundling AirPods with iPhones. Removing EarPods would make sense if they planned to do that. The issue is that Apple sells multiple tiers of AirPods and it's unlikely that the unit they will bundle will align with the unit people want.

aha. i never believed those reports. they sell those puppies for what, $160-250 and all of a sudden they will include them with the phones despite the fact that they still haven't included a fast charger? and you're right, i can't stand the pro airpods, so if i buy the pro phone, i'll be standing there exchanging with someone who just bought the lower end model)))

Exactly. Who would ship a phone without any way to charge it? Think of people who are buying their first phone and don't already have a collection of chargers. That's a stupid thing to report.
You forget this is Apple. And if there is a way for them to milk money from ppl. They will find it lol.

I thought US federal law *mandates* the inclusion of a hands-free piece with all handsets sold in the country. I could have sworn I read this many years ago, but now I'm having a hard time finding where I read that.

I don't think so. I bought a Nexus 6P in 2016 and it had no headset in the box.

I’d be good with that.

Won’t happen any time soon. On the one hand apple is switching to higher wattage chargers to enable faster charging. If they drop a wired port, then you revert to very very slow charging. The two concepts work in opposite directions.

It’s happening next year lol

From my perspective, 10-bit color "capture" is what I hope for the most !

It was back in March of 2016 that AAPL first began supporting Display P3, which was a good move, but would have been a great move if they had ALSO begun offering 10-bit color capture AT THE SAME TIME !

So here we are 4+ years later, & still NO 10-bit color capture !

4B-aligned per pixel BGR10A2 is the 32-bit format they could easily offer it up in, right off the Image Signal Processor !

As a reminder, OR for those who are UN-aware, that's UN-compressed data ... 10-bit bits of Red, Green, & Blue, with 2-bits of NON-used Alpha for alignment purposes.

If Cook wasn't such a Bean Counter AND/OR Schiller had (at least) some Software Dev Experience, we / I wouldn't still be waiting for something that AAPL should have added to it's products 4+ years ago !

I’m starting to second guess AirPods. Worked great for some time. Then in the last 2 weeks they don’t connect to my phone. I’ve had tons of issues. I’ve reset and re-paired them multiple times.
Oddly enough, I’m experiencing this same thing the last two weeks (gen 2 w/ wireless case). I figured it’s because I was using them a lot more often for calls lately. But interesting it’s not just me the last two weeks.
You're not the only ones with BT (audio device) problems, nor is it just AirPods. I've had connection glitches as well as a VERY annoying bug, especially if my BT speaker disconnects due to power save, during the next use, the volume control is non-effective. Typically, if I go through the process of re-pairing the device, volume adjustment will work again but not always.

Basically, I think, Apple has somewhat broken their BT drivers -- not exactly the first quality control issue in recent times though.

One of the problem would be the included Cable is *USB-C* to Lightning. Not that many people have a USB-C charger, while USB-A is everywhere.

I am thinking if this set stage to maintain the same price as previous iPhone model. But the BOM cost saving is tiny, less than $5 in total, including any shipping savings. Those dollar likely went to Qualcomm.

The obvious and simplest solution is to price the Pro starting at $1099, that is 5G, including mmWave. Starting at 128GB, seems reasonable, but we are in pandemic, price rise aren't exactly popular. But getting rid of $5 cost doesn't seems to make sense either.

I am thinking if there are may be $1 saving in shipping, Apple could have half the volume of their iPhone size without charger and hence ship more per flight. There would likely be some saving there.

The cheapening of the Apple purchase experience continues apace with miser Tim Cook at the helm.
Steve Jobs was all about an elevated experience and creating a mystique.. Steve Jobs would have included AirPods with iPhone purchase. Tim Cook even took away the cheap plastic EarPods case and replaced it with a paper holder than can't be used as a case.. what a douche.. Tim Cook has ruined Apple

Apple love to give a poor value proposition for the lowest cost device, so I could totally see them skipping the headphones and charger for the cheapest version or maybe all of the 5.4” models.

People getting up in arms over the possible chance from one guys guess.

I'm cool without the inclusion of such. I have more iPhone accessories than I'll ever use. At least a half dozen headphones and chargers sitting unopened. They'll just end up in the landfill.
My loft is overflooding with chargers and EarPods accumulated throughout the years. I wouldn't miss either of them.

Sure if you add 250 onto the price
That's why it's "Mini", it's basic enough to charge your phone wirelessly while not being complicated, expensive and 'luxurious' like the original AirPower (I'm talking as if it was ever released lol)

The idea that apple is “ruined” because They stopped shipping the annoying clamshell plastic case that everyone threw in a drawer because it was too hard to wrap the cord around it every time you put your EarPods away is perhaps the silliest thing I’ve read on the internet this week.

As Craig Federighi would say, Barclay’s are being ‘tools’. It will include a charger and this is just outside of the normal tech bubble analyst who just doesn’t know what they are talking about.
