Well if thats what Soriano wanted to do, then good for him. As for the Yankee vs. BoSox, I hope it is on TV. Hopefully Johnny jacks one on them.
7pm YES and NESN.

His offensive statistics may not have sucked for a second baseman but his fielding percentage was horrible compared to others at the same position.

fielding percentage is an absolutely worthless statistic, it means nothing at all. then again, he still is an awful defensive second baseman.

I was thinking Jose Canseco. :)

yeah, but Canseco always played the outfield, he was doomed from the start. i mentioned Knobbie because he made the same move: from second to left field, with totally disastrous results.

I get it. But I'll bet he never had a fly ball bounce off his head.

Come to think it, maybe that wasn't a disastrous result. But it sure was a comical result.

Perfect. The look on the BoSox will be great

Thank you.

The sox are only sending one starter and Pap to pitch. Remember, this is spring training. Look at the standings, the sox, yanks, chisox, etc are all WELL UNDER 500. Then you have the traditionally "bad" teams and they're all excelling. There's a reason for that.

Sox fans and (informed) Yankee's fans can still be friends for a couple more weeks.

Ben

PS. I just looked and Pena hit his first shot in his uniform, but then again, so did Bernie.

Dave Roberts wasn't so shabby either. Saw him steal four bases in one game.

I like Dave Roberts and I'm glad he got to play more with other teams. But his OBP was too low for me to put him among really good leadoff men.

I know that this is only spring training and that the standings are nothing like they will be in the season. It is just still great to see the Yanks and Soxs play. Especially if the Yankees win.

Any final thoughts before the season starts on Monday, The American League looks strong this year and I don't see one team running away with it as a lot of teams are fairly even. How I see it Yankees in First in AL East White Sox in Central and Angels in the West. Wild Card is up for grabs with Toronto Minnesota Boston Cleveland and Oakland all contenders.

Those standings sound like normal results   nothing to far out on the limb

Ok National League, Braves and Mets fighting for the NL East but I don't know if the Mets can hold off the Braves, They should have a good shot this year. Cardinals again should take the Central and I like the Dodgers to take the West, Wild Card might come from the East but that is anyones guess.

Final thought: The Yankees bullpen is going to be lights out good. Farnsworth setting up Rivera, and, when Dotel gets back, Dotel in the middle innings. Dotel 6 and 7, Farnsworth 8 and Rivera 9 -- who needs more than Shawn Chacon?

The bullpen might be great but the starting rotation is still up for grabs. Randy has to be perfect Mussina has something to prove and who knows about Pavano.

I call ChiSox central, Angels in the west and Boston in the east. Toronto pulling out the wild card in a close one with NYY and cleveland.

lemme hear your picks then:rolleyes:
OK, I'll play.

AL East
1 - NY Yankees
2 - Toronto Blue Jays
3 - Boston Red Sox
4 - Baltimore Orioles
5 - Tampa Bay Devil Rays

Yankees, Blue Jays, and Red Sox fight it out to the wire. Yankees bash their way to victory.

AL Central
1 - Chicago White Sox
2 - Cleveland Indians
3 - Detroit Tigers
4 - Minnesota Twins
5 - Kansas City Royals

Chicago wins it going away. Indians, Tigers, and Twins in a battle for second with the Royals far behind. Tigers are my surprise team here.

AL West
1 - Los Angeles Angels
2 - Oakland A's
3 - Texas Rangers
4 - Seattle Mariners

In a duplicate of last year's standings the Angels win in a closer race with the A's. The A's are the wild card team.

ALDS
Yankees over A's
Chicago over Angels

ALCS
Yankees over White Sox

NL East
1 - New York Mets
2 - Atlanta Braves
3 - Washington Nationals
4 - Philadelphia Phillies
5 - Florida Marlins

Braves finally fail to win division, but still make it to the playoffs as the wild card.

NL Central
1 - St. Louis Cardinals
2 - Houston Astros
3 - Milwaukee Brewers
4 - Chicago Cubs
5 - Cincinnati Reds
6 - Pittsburgh Pirates

Nothing much has changed here. Cardinals win in a walk.

NL West
1 - San Francisco Giants
2 - Los Angeles Dodgers
3 - San Diego Padres
4 - Arizona Diamondbacks
5 - Colorado Rockies

Giants stay healthy enough to win division.

NLDS
Mets over Cardinals
Giants over Braves

NLCS
Giants over Mets

World Series
Giants win over Yankees (payback for '62)

Wow thats a stretch, First off I don't see Toronto taking that many away from the Yanks or Sox as they play both teams I think 40 times this season, The AL East will beat the hell out of each other but I don't think the Blue Jays will make it to the final bell.

The Mets I can see taking the Braves if health issues don't get in the way, but I cant see them beating the Cards in the playoffs. As for the Giants, it all hinges on Bonds' health if he goes down for any amount of time the Giants are done, I don't see the Giants beating the Cards so I predict Yankees Cardinals World Series.:)

Anyone want to post some over unders

Yankees under 96
Red sox over 92
Blue Jays under 90
White Sox over 94

I take that it's "Yankees over Cardinals" right? Have we any other players out there who wish to risk being held up to ridicule in October? IJ, aloofman, anyone?

I wouldn't make any major changes to MacNut's predictions, except I'd go with the Braves over the Mets, and I wouldn't commit to anything in the playoffs.

I am unsure about the Mets this year, on paper they should win the east but in reality they always find a way to screw it up.

What a homer pick. I'm not gonna run the whole divisions, but I think Milwaukee will finish better than Houston, and Cleveland will beat out the BoSux for the wildcard.

I could care less who wins the NL east as long as the team isn't the 82-80 Padres of last year.

Excuse me? As opposed to the choice of the Yankees? Give me a break, I'll take the Giants starting rotation over the Yanks any day. My worry with the Giants is in the division. They match up well in post season play, but the question is can they stay healthy over 162 games.

btw, the Padres are in the NL WEST.
