Here’s another test to offer a counterpoint for the other that fulfilled people’s expectation of worse batter. iPhone 12 non pro vs iPhone 11 non pro with the former lasting longer.

The 12 pro may be slightly shorter due to supporting extra RAM but battery size and internals otherwise the same.

So I made it through a typical work day and noticed an improvement compared to my XS Max.

Started using my phone at 9AM
Occasional social media use
Listening to music and a 1.5 hour podcast
Light web browsing
iMessage

Finished the day around 45% on the 12 Pro.
My XS Max usually hit the 20% warning by end of day (Granted the battery health is 89%)

Does anyone know how far out the cameras sit on the back of the phones? The 12 is thinner than the 11. I’m wondering if they could have kept the same thickness while losing the camera bump and stuck a bigger battery in. Just thinking out loud.

The hump itself seems tiny... it's the actual lens (circle) parts that stick out the most. While I don't mind them sticking out, I sure would have loved a better battery. That said... I have no reason to want one. I ended my day at 74%. Yeah, I'd love a week battery but.. I also love the feel of this phone in my hand. :)

So far I’m resisting temptation and sticking with my 11 so I can’t say anything the 12 battery life. I’ve never had any problems with battery life. I was just wondering if what I’m thinking is even possible or worth it from a technical point of view.

I’m actually really happy with my 12 Pro vs my regular 11. I unplug at 10am and usually plug in at around 2am with 25-30% left.

My usage is web browsing, audiobooks, music, maybe one or two short YouTube videos, YouTube background audio (mostly debates), iMessage and Facebook messenger. I am usually on WiFi with airplane mode on.

I have a mostly slow job and can use my phone as much as I like during the day. The lowest I’ve gotten is 5.5 hours of SOT and highest is 9 hours.
