What network are you on?

I'm in the UK, on Three, carrier settings are 17.0.
I'm going to tweet them to see if that's the latest version or not.

I am on Verizon Wireless LTE in the US. My carrier settings are also 17.0.

----------

Have faith, I expected the poor battery life I'm experiencing. Therefore I'm not disappointed. Nothing will change until next model. More new improvements will be included next year. I have confidence.

I just don't understand how some of us can consistently get 4-5 hours of battery life while others can consistently get 7-8 hours and beyond.

Not happy with the results I've got the last two days at all.

Yep, same numbers here - 5.5 hours. I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing with Apple and trying to swap my device out for another or to move up to the plus. Still, if I'm only getting 5.5 hours from the 6, then that put me at 7.5 hours or so with the plus. A measly two hour increase in battery life. Don't know if that's worth the tradeoff of having to carry a bigger phone around.

----------

I am on 3 Mobile...
I noticed that when I lower the screen's brightness the battery seems to last longer.

That's the thing, I just switched from an iPhone 5 and I don't feel any improvement yet. I know it might need a few charging cicles before I jump to conclusions.

My screen brightness is set at about 60%, which I don't think is excessive. I literally have every suspect configuration turned off (e.g. location, automatic updates, spotlight, background app refresh, parallax) and still I can only achieve 5 hours of battery life.

Looks like this may be a solution.

"I spent several times in Apple Care Suport ( CASES 590332090 AND 590610977 at 03/20/14 ). An senior engineer guide d me to put my IPHONE 5S in DFU MODE and reinstall firmware! Further we created a new ICLOUD ACCOUNT because I realized that when ICLOUD was activied temperature increased so much! I make an appointment in Apple Store and in 10 minutes they conclude DFU MODE. I restarted using my new icloud account. After then my phone is normal now. Battery is during by 12-10 hours! I have 2 iCloud accounts now."

That's a tad frustrating.
I wonder how easy it is to transfer Contacts and other stuff from one iCloud account to another?
Granted, that may not be the best thing to do if it's a contact causing an issue, but may be something I'd end up wanting to do at some point.

I suggested on another thread that I would make a form to collate some battery life results. Link to the form is below.
Please fill it in :)

Soooo I had some time to kill, and created a form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1BXvQW-gRP1GQvx06ElACCTu3dPhOe9JX42P22Z6VVwI/viewform

Google docs form, asks questions about device model, size, brightness setting, usage time, standby time.
I've only entered options for iPhone 5 and later (5, 5S, 5C, 6, 6+).
If there are any questions anyone can think of to add, let me know.

Once there's a fair amount of results, I'll put some stats of some sort together (ie, average time per model, max, min).

If the area you are in has low cell coverage, I find that that drains the battery rather quickly, as does leaving open large apps in the background.

If correcting those issues doesn't help, contact Apple and ask for a replacement

I got my 6+ at roughly 530pm yesterday, it was at 62%, I messed with it until about 2am- video, camera, activating, issues, gps to get home, restore, web, random apps, streaming music and case review videos while out and about today. It is now 4pm and it's at 18%, BT on, location on, screen 50%, I love this thing I'm sure I'll make it through 2 days easy.
I usually have my screen at 25% and BT off unless I'm in the car. I got a little over a day out of my 5s, so this should be a cakewalk.

You defy the laws of physics on ur 5s or U never use it and it sits all day.

isnt the 6 suppose to only be barely better than 5S. and worse in some use cases like watching video. 5.5 hrs was good on the 5S for me. Therefore we shouldnt expect much more should we?

According to Apple, it's supposed to be at least as good as the 5s in all scenarios, and notably (if only slightly) better in most. I know that not everyone was thrilled with the battery life of the 5s, but I've always found it to be sufficient, so any improvement at all in the 6 would just be a welcome bonus to me.

Yesterday i was on for 10 hours, likely ended up with 8hr30min to 9hrs

Today i was down to 75% and 1hrs 30min hours of usage. So not that great but during that time i had taken 130 photos, 19 videos with 7 of them being slo-mo

I assume video recording uses slightly more juice than photo capture but i have geo-tagging turned on so i get a faster drain too. Likely i would have ended up with 6-7 hours usage. Still think thats decent. No complaints here.

Remember there are a lot of factors to battery life, two of the big ones are network you're connected to, both on WiFi and cellular. Weak cell signal results in poor battery life, due to the phone having to work harder at higher power levels, and slower speeds so it takes longer to sync data. The second is WiFi, not all WiFi is the same. Just as an example, my home wireless will allow me to go several hours and not drop from 100%, however at work our corporate wireless causes severe battery drain so by 4PM I have to recharge.

Not really, but I'm not gonna play the "I can't get those results, so it must not be possible" game. My 5s consistently went day with some left to spare.

Either way I posted in the wrong thread by accident, as I have a 6+. However my wife has the 6 and she's making through the day easy, and she's one of those screen on the brightest settings and 20 apps open type of people.

iPhone6 battery is terrible, hoping the 6+ is better

I originally preordered an iPhone6+ which arrives today, but also bought an iPhone 6 on launch day to try out the smaller screen size. The battery size of the 6+ was one of the main selling points, so I was interested to see how both phones compared to each other and against other android phones that I have owned.

I decided to test the new phone during a weekend trip to Sydney, which is a good test of the stamina of a phone. I carried both an iPhone 6 and a Samsung S5 and purposely mirrored my usage on each device to test each device against each other in a controlled manner. I bought 2 prepaid SIM cards with the same carrier and if I did anything on the iPhone, i would repeat on the S5 such as taking photos, messaging, using maps, checking email, ordering Uber taxies, search etc.

Overall the S5 powered through the weekend it would consistently survive a full day and late into the night (around 1-2am) without hitting 10%. Anything below 10% it would switch to powersaver and survive through till 7am where I could charge it and it would be at 100% in about an hour (using fast charge). Unfortunately the iPhone 6 would die at about 4pm and would need to be topped up with a portable battery pack.

For 'normal' daily usage I expect the iP6 to survive a day with about 10% battery before I go to bed, but this is still quite poor after being used to my S5 having roughly 45% battery before I go to sleep. Hearing reports that the 6+ battery life is significantly better than the 6. Can't wait for my 6+ to arrive today so that I can test these claims out.

Galaxy S5 active. 48hrs of constant usage. At 10pm I put a fresh battery in. I use it a little then sit it next to my bed. Wake up and use it all day long. Come 10pm I swap the battery again before bed and it's around 50%. 8:18pm right now and it's at 84% I keep it at 100% brightness. Have never plugged it in. Enjoy.

Judging by less than 2 days of usage, I will estimate that the 6 battery is about 10% better than my 5s.

I am having extremely good battery life on my 6, I am actually suprised how good the battery is and performance.

The thing is when I get a new iPhone I always set it up as new, but I have everything still backed up I just put the photos on manually, and brand new install of all the apps I use, notes, etc, all that manually, doesnt take me long either.

I feel like people who use recover from a older iPhone going to a new iPhone always brings some kind of battery bug glitch .

The battery life is pretty dam awesome on the 6 for me (Verizon), I suspect some apps are probably draining the battery more then usual since they aren't fully updated yet to iOS 8, plus iOS 8.0.1 is coming soon so quirks will be ironed out fast

location services on? push/fetch settings? There's actually alot of battery saving options in iOS

little things like turning off Vibrate on ring helps if you don't mind no vibrate on ring ( i dont ) and bunch of other things.

some apps arent fully updated yet and probably arent as efficient as they should be yet but .

How do you transfer your photos back to the phone when setting up as new?

Iphone 6 plus, day three
4 hrs 4 min usage
9 hrs 34 min standby
69% left.

This thing is crushing my old 4s which I would have had to charge 3 times by now today.

Yeah but, touch whiz and android tho....

How do you transfer your photos back to the phone when setting up as new?

On a Mac, transfer the photos to the Mac (use iPhoto) then in iTunes, when you sync/backup/restore/update the iPhone, there's a Photos tab. On there you can choose to sync photos, and pick which albums you want on it.

On a PC, transfer photos using the image capture tool (pops up automatically I think, or you can go to (My) Computer, and I think right click the iPhone to find the option).
once they're on your PC, similar thing on iTunes, on the Photos tab I think you can select file/folder locations.
Gotta be honest, I've never tried it on a PC since getting a Mac, so may suggestion my be way off.

There'll be a guide somewhere, should be a quick google search

Has anyone here used a battery case? I know that the phone probably hasn't been out long enough for anyone to make them, but I'd imagine that they'd be useful for people who are serious power users. I was looking on Amazon and for the 5S, the MaxBoost Atomic S case seems very well liked. Hopefully they'll make one for the 6 soon.

Thanks. It seems like syncing back from iphoto might be difficult with three years of photos.

The first day I had to recharge by mid-afternoon, but I was using Google Maps a bunch.

Today I'm at 29% with 3 hours, 43 minutes usage - 9 hours 16 minutes standby. I used Google Maps a bit today but it managed to chew up 55% of the battery. The next highest battery usage app was only at 8%.

I usually give it a week before I start gauging my battery life. The first week we are all constantly downloading apps, changing settings, basically using our phones more than we normally do. Give it time.

The majority of you guys are light users . My battery life sucks on the iPhone 6. That being said I'm not having the same memory issues like I was having on the iPhone 5s which caused me to get the Note 3 last year. And only 2 apps were unstable after downloading 161 apps which is understandable. Having 128GB is definitely making the phone much more enjoyable compared to the 16GB I got last year. I laugh at app sizes now!!!

We need to correct Apple's small battery mistake with a nice battery case.
