My Nike 44mm is on it’s third day currently on 48%. The more I use it, the better it seems to be.

Although I did turn off a few background refresh options that I don’t need which have probably helped.

That’s impressive. Which ones did you turn off? What watchface are you using?

Great news. I think the explorer face is exclusive to LTE watches, because I don’t have it. My problem is also that I really like having a calendar complication on my watchface indicating my next event... I don’t think any simple watchface does that.
The Utlility face does that

I second that. I use the Utility watch face almost exclusively for that very reason, I like the preview of my next calendar event. I find the Utility doesn’t drain the battery significantly more than average. (That is, on my S4 40 GPS, if fully charged at 7:00 am, I usually end the day around 9:30 pm at about 60%.)

Three days with no charge and you’re still at 48%? You’ve gotta share your settings, top to bottom LOL.

My 40 AW battery progress.
Usage 4h 36 min.
Standby 1 day 13 hours. 18% left.

I used it twice to monitor my sleep ( each time drained 18% of the battery) and once 60 min. High intensity workout ( 10% ). Alarm used two mornings ( I love alarm).
Background refresh off except couple apps.
Brightness on lowest.
Fall detection off
Stand reminder off
Daily coaching off
Wake screen on wrist raise off ( blinking screen was distracting me at the gym)

Without sleep and workout monitoring I think my watch could easily go another full day

Why even have the watch?

What do you mean ?

It's still very bright on lowest. I lower brightness a lot on my phone, computer too, because I like it that way.
I always turn off app refreshing on my phone, it's the first thing I do when I get new phone, so it's off on my watch too.
I don't need fall detection, because I do very active workouts and risk unwanted emergency calls. I will turn it back on when I'll need it.
Wake screen on wrist raise is distracting me, so it's off not for saving battery purpose.

So is it pretty much confirmed the more complications on your watch face the faster the battery drains? Makes sense of course, has to update more info for when you look and wake the screen but just checking it’s not something else.

I’m definitely getting worse battery on mine compared to the Series 2 I had, that was using either the X-Large, Modular usually on the Series 2 and either of the new Infograph faces on the Series 4.

Losing about 10% more today in work than I normally do with Series 2, going to try sticking to the older faces next work day and see how that is.

Yes pretty much. When using complications on a face each item that is on the face has background app refresh enabled, regardless of your settings it will be on for those apps. Taking this into account and using the Infograph face for me totally makes sense for the extra battery drain - if I use any other faces I get a lot more battery life out of my watch.

I think a lot of people (including me) got their new S4 watches and wanted to use the fancy new face, saw the battery drain and assumed that it was the S4's fault when in reality it's because you've got a face loaded with 8 complications all running and updating whenever you raise your wrist.

i use infograph face with all the complications.. battery lasts only 1 day.. i needed to charge during dinner a couple of time.

i have it since last week, so i think the "wow" effect and the fact tha i'm constatly using it, changing faces etc. has its impact, but i hope battery life will improve within the next weeks.

to me it's important to use all the fancy capabilities of the watch, otherwise i would have continued using my € 15 casio watch :-D

I’m not sure that it’s just the faces/complications causing drain.

My series 2 would often be 100% 6-7 hours after taking it off the charger and sleep tracking (I had a simple red display with alarm and weather complication - this predated theatre mode). I would switch to it before going to sleep. Even when theatre mode was enabled, I used this method as it was habit. So, it could have turned on over night.

With my Series 4, I’ve been putting the watch in theatre mode overnight and it will have drained 6-8% in about the same time period. So, the watch shouldn’t have been turning on and updating complications. As a test, one night I also switched back to my old red faced/simple complication face before sleeping and found the same results.

At the end of the day, I think the series 4 is doing a little bit better than my 2 did.. trying to get 2 days of use out of the series 2 was risky where as the series 4 seems to much more comfortably make it. Maybe the drain percent on the series 2 was misleading and the capacity was lower than it led on when I awoke in the morning..
[doublepost=1539777973][/doublepost]To add - by saying 2 days above, I don’t necessarily mean a full 48 hours - usually more like 42-44 (get me back in range of bedtime the second day)

I turned off the "raise to speak" setting on my AW4. That helped battery life significantly for me.

I do have the infograph watch face running so I know that drains a little more battery over the others.

With the raise to speak setting on, I was finishing out the day in the low 60% range for battery. After I turned it off, I end up in the mid- to upper- 70% range.

Took watch off the charger 8 hours ago at 100, left it on my nightstand overnight. Woke up with the watch at 93 percent with 17 minutes of usage....

Just doesn’t make any sense.

I exchanged 40mm to 44mm.
44mm
usage 1h 27min.
standby 15h 23min. 76% left.

Monitored my sleep and I was playing with siri a lot this morning and last night. I think battery of 44mm watch is even better. I'll see how much it's going to drain after workout monitoring today.

My S4 44mm seems to discharge at an average of 2 minutes/hour through the day, such that so far, after a typical 17 hours of use each day, it has shown 64-70% battery.

My S2 42mm was typically 68-73% over the same daily usage.

What are you doing to get this amazing battery life? Please share!

the apple watch doesn't officially support sleep tracking because the battery isn't there yet, what else do you need to know?

I always charge my watch sometime during the day and appreciate the sleep tracking info I get from my sleep tracking app over night. I usually charge between 30-40%. When I wear the watch over night I typically use 7-9% with sleep tracking. Not sure what you are talking about.

I would be interested in what you turned off too.

I hate testing the watch in the summer as having a watch on each arm gets strange looks from people.

I put one of them on my leg to see if heart rate still worked while running ( it did) but the next day someone asked why I was under house arrest.

That happens when you turn everything off lol

My series 4 usually last me two full days, for some reason today I’ve noticed it’s been draining faster than ever. I took it off the charger at about 545 this morning and I only have 38% battery left. How do I figure out what is suddenly draining my battery?
