You seem to have ignored the fact that i am also using the phone in such a way that Apple likely did not use their phone during their battery life tests. I had to turn my screen down to 20% to get those numbers. If i did anything intensive, i'd get much worse numbers. If i turned on LTE, i lose about 3-4 hours.

I did not call the phone defective. I said i was unimpressed that i had to turn off so many settings aka neuter the phone in such a way to even get remotely close to the listed figures.

My point was you are using third party apps; regardless of crippling the phone those may not be quite as battery optimized as stock apps.

Do you have the same battery life with Safari as you do with Dolphin?

I also suppose Apple's testing was done with full strength 3G and LTE and a strong wifi connection. Signal strength is my personal biggest battery drain, cuz the phone sometimes has to strain for LTE in a spotty area or something.

Dude that's pretty solid! Especially with Spotify streaming on 3G.

Yes I guess that's not too bad, especially seeing as this is the first time I've used spotify on this phone so there wasn't any cached songs. Everything had to be pulled over 3G.

My 4S would have had to have been charged once throughout the day and 99% of the songs I listened to on there were cached.

This has been mine on my 6 pretty consistently. Medium to heavy usage with wifi/lte mixed as well as pebble connected for half the day. Good enough for me :) way better than my nexus 5!

You're the first I read who has the same (bad) experience as I am having . Please keep posted what Apple is saying to all that.

Maybe there are some faulty phones around....

I'm also having a similar problem. Getting about 5 hours of battery life, really considering exchanging it for the 6 Plus.

Just got my iPhone replaced no questions asked at the Apple Store. Showed the Genius the screenshots of the battery life I've been getting and he agreed that it was definitely not normal even though diagnostics showed my battery at 100%. I'll report back later with how this one does in terms of battery. Let's hope this solves my problems!

These all might be more useful for comparison if everyone were a bit more detailed about what they have turned on/off.

Without this info it's difficult to know if those of us getting under 7 are normal.

Examples:

Screen Brightness
Location Services
Background App Refresh
LTE, 3G, WiFi
Bluetooth
Mail Setting (Push, Fetch, Manual)

Also whether you set it up as new, or restored from backup (and whether that was from iCloud or iTunes)

Have been using the 6 for 5 days now. I use it mostly for texting, phone calls, snapchat, instagram etc. and in the past 5 days I haven't got more than 6 hours of usage. Standby times are great but usage never exceeds 6 hours. Don't know if that is supposed to be good or too bad to be eligible for a replacement but my previous phone (4S) had literally 5 hours of standby time so I had to charge it at least 3-4 times a day and refrain from using most of the time. Also it shut down randomly around 20% sometimes and would never go below 10%, would definitely shut down way before.

At least now I know my phone will get below 10% (real battery percentage indicated)

p.s. brightness medium, LTE always off since I don't have LTE where I live. Wifi/3G mixed usage (50-50)

How does this look. I guess I still haven't put the phone down really since I've had it and it's been crazy slow at work so I'm waking it up a lot of the time. Also been on LTE all day.No don't think it's that impressive.

Also just realized that wifi has been on all day and not connected. Idk if that has an affect on battery life.

Is it me or does the battery life drain at a great rate until about 96% and then speeds through battery?

Using instead of wifi will definitely drain the battery faster, particularly if you were using it for facetime. Facetime over LTE is one of the more battery intensive things you can do on an iPhone.

I recommend giving it a few days before judging, because initially you're going to be using the phone obsessively because it's new and awesome, and inevitably the battery will drain.

In all instances, though, you'll save battery by disabling background apps that are non-essential (I only let the stock weather and calendar apps update in the background on mine), disable push notifications for apps that are just going to annoy you with spam, and try to keep connected to wifi where it's available.

Oh, and definitely cut off location services to any app that doesn't need it. For instance, if you let Google Now run in the background (via the Google Search app), it'll quickly run down your battery tracking your location.

I have a 64 gig 6

So you're on track to get 16 hours with an iphone 6 4.7in ..i just find that hard to believe..that's the best report ive seen..i'm sure thats the best in the WORLD..want to tell us all your secrets?

this kid claims to have the best battery life in the entire world..I"m pretty sure that's news worthy...when nobody else comes close to what he posted..

I wonder if its because its Rogers network that doesn't have super fast LTE or crazy battery draining network sniffing technology that it lasts that long. 10 hours is amazing! Is your screen brightness usually manually at the lowest setting?

10 hours seems to be a bit on the high side I think... I haven't seen that one either.

Wifi all day and podcasts. I think it might be a one off thing, too. Still getting great battery life. 5% at 10:00 at night

Glad they gave you an easy time. Hopefully the new Phone fixes things (although the few others in the thread that made the exchange didn't seem to improve their results).

There's no secret to it, really. If you look at his screenshot his main App usage is audio related. I get extended battery life as well when I listen to podcasts (when it's playing audio the screen is off). Because the screen is off the usage time grows while sipping very little power. A lot of us listen to music/podcast at least an hour a day so take that into account when looking at different user's screenshots.

The main battery drain is the display and bad cell signals. Stuff like 100% screen brightness and 1 bar of signal will kill a battery very fast.

And apparently the game Godus :)

...

Just wanted to make a quick little update, but I manually restored the new iPhone to iOS 8.0.2 (as in I went to IPSW Downloader, downloaded the IPSW file for my device, option-clicked and restored my iPhone from the IPSW I just downloaded, let it set up and then restored my data, apps, etc. from an iTunes backup (not iCloud backup)) and it's got all the same apps, photos, data, etc. and battery life seems much, much improved.

I haven't yet been able to put it through a full day, but it's already significantly better than what I was seeing from my old iPhone 6 and as I said, this is with the exact same type of usage, settings, and apps. I'm gonna charge it up fully tonight and run it till it dies tomorrow and will post screenshots then. So far, though, things are looking good.

battery life is terrific. 2 full days of minor usage (but with 2 email accounts popping off with emails throughout the day)

That's awesome that things are looking good with the exchange. Maybe there are just some bad batteries out there?

From 6:20am to 11pm

What I'm noticing as a pattern among good battery life is a lot of people with tapatalk among their top apps. Last time I tried tapatalk it didn't work with macrumors. Also I thought it was a paid app before?

Anyways I just downloaded it from App Store and am surprised that it's free and works with macrumors now. It's got a bit of a learning curve but works much better for moving the iOS text cursor around than going through the mobile site on Safari like I did before.

Hopefully I can squeeze even more battery life by using safari less.
