On a more intense usage routine, I usually get about barely 8 hours, as well. First time I let the battery just completely drain was when I was at work with horrible reception. Kept switching from LTE to 3G to GPRS constantly on 1 bar. But battery holds up very well in my experience with the phone so far.

9 hours? How is that possible? Is the battery lifetime of the iPhone 6 better than the battery lifetime of the iPhone 6 Plus?

All in all, I'm very happy with my iPhone 6 Plus 128GB battery life. Easily twice what I was getting on my iPhone 5s, both standby and usage. This is with lots of push e-mail going on.

Looking at a the disparity in battery usage here and people ogling at other peoples stat ...all this because Iphone give useless battery stats.

If you use a touch screen phone long enough you should know there are just 2 broad categories of battery usage, screen on and standby. When you on the screen in a standard lit environment you are looking at 10-20% drop per hour (the high end being you play cpu intensive game and maybe 15% if use data) for iphone 6+. But if the screen is off you are looking at 0.5-3% drop per hour.

So the deciding factor is always the screen on. But apple usage stat is USELESS because it lumps together usage when screen is on and off together. "Usage" is actually a misnomer because you are not really using the phone when the screen is off but iphone still records usage time.

That's why you you dont see Android users in such a state of confusion with regards to battery life. Android gives you screen-on time and standby time. Using these 2 factors independently can give you a pretty accurate comparison of battery life.

My latest usage only 3g/4g

iPhone 6

Usage 7 Hours 20 Minutes

Standby 2 Days 4 Hours

Battery 2% left

iPhone 6 Plus

Usage 10 Hours 5 Minutes

Standby 3 Days 3 Hours

Battery 3% left

This sounds very much like mine on moderate usage. For both the 6 and plus, as yours shows.

I disagree. There are many cases where someone can be using a phone with the screen off. Listening to streaming audio (Pandora, beats, iTunes radio), being on a phone call with the phone in my pocket and headphones on, using bluetooth headsets or using handoff for a phone call (which is now possible) and syncing wirelessly all count to me as usage, even if I'm not looking at the screen or the screen is off. I think the usage stats would be incorrect is these weren't counted.

agreed you have to count streaming with screen off

It just would be fair if the phones showed usage , standby AND screen time. But the result would clearly show users that android is superior regarding battery runtime and that's why apple's not doing it

its all subjective anyways and not all apps are equal

using app (A) for 20 mintes might use more battery than app (B)

all i know is my highly detailed android usage phone needed to be charged mid day, with the same usage my iphone 6 gets close to 2 days

I Need to Charge my phone in the afternoon to not run out of battery when going out in the evening. This is just with mild usage of safari, whatsapp and Facebook.
A task my ****** Samsung S4 mini handled with ease.

what is apple's incorrect usage number showing?

also I find my iphone 6 when it says 40% remaining I am not worried about it lasting the evening/night, when my s3 said 40% I knew it was dead early in the night

I actually get what you're saying.

I see why people might be getting wildly varying usage times. It all depends on what that usage is.

If you look at this screenshot, you'd think I am getting this 10 hour + battery life with playing so much Asphalt. But actually, a lot of that 'usage' in terms of time was from listening to an audiobook for more than an hour and then listening to a podcast for a while on top. That extends the time but doesn't pop up in the usage screen so much because it doesn't draw as much power from the battery as say half an hour of gaming.

So the comparisons would be more accurate if we were comparing screen-on time.

but screen on time is still not apples to apples

screen on for half an hour of asphault is not the same battery comsumption as half an hour of safari

bottom line is you have to be happy with your battery in terms of normal use not try to compare with others
